It took them more then five months to complete a…read morebasic non-business personal related tax request, initial inquiry in May and being completed in October- I had to give the same information over and over to different people and would have to follow up multiple times while they left me in the dark for weeks multiple times. I was rushed into signing the approval documentation without even being told the amount I would be paying to the IRS or their business and was left taking a hit of 6k unexpectedly less then 24 hours later without any option for a payment plan, disclosure on the amount etc- they told me there was nothing they could do to stop the charge and apologized profusely. They accepted blame for the situation and admitted that the service I got was unacceptable and when I asked for my money back- as ANYONE WOULD when being given awful service, I was ghosted for two weeks before being told "I got the service I paid for" which was no communication, poor management, them admitting wrong in the situation and stress. I felt like I had to follow up with them to do their job and I paid them $300 to just be put in a stressful situation. Absolutely do not recommend, super poor management and awful taste left from the experience. Cannot warn anyone enough how AWFUL Rick and his employees were with handling the whole experience. I was even told they would "rectify it however they could" but when I said the proper solution would to be to refund me for the amount of time and stress their business caused I was then responded with "you got your service no matter how bad it was, I wont go back and forth on that..." so how were they going to rectify it then? A flower basket? Literally lost my entire savings in one day because of them. Rick said in emails he wanted to better work on the business and cared about client satisfaction, but has left me in such a financial hardship and depression with no way to solve the problem they caused. During this entire process I NEVER received a phone call except the last day to make sure they got paid. Literally go use turbotax.

HR Block states that they give 100% guarantee while filing your taxes and if you get a bill they…read morewill pay for it..so not the case they only give you 30 days and you have to pay EXTRA for the "piece of mind" I thought them giving a guarantee was piece of mind, guess not. So because THEY messed up because they hire average joes and not accountants I have to pay over $1300.00 to the IRS. I should have stuck to my gut and just done them myself, like I have every year EXCEPT this one. And they charge you $400 to enter information into the SAME EXACT website if you were to do it on your own....don't come here, if you can't do it yourself go to a TRAINED professional!!! Not only that they are rude A.F., I'm sorry you messed up, well no I did because I trusted you with my return....$1300 that I don't have laying around..( zero stars is my actual rating) THIS EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!!!!!!!! Now I owe 1500+. One thing changed in one year on my taxes, they charged me extra for it and it finally caught up with me years later and the folks at the office said there was nothing they could do. So after paying extra for this certain tax document to be filed and them making a mistake, I the customer have to now face the consequences. Not recommended.

The people make the difference there! BUT...So did their prices tonight! Don't get me wrong - I had some tax issues over 2016,I knew about them and was ready to deal. What I was not ready to deal with...THE PRICE. The price tag of tonight's visit, over double what I paid last year. Tonight's grand total - OVER $500 - YIKES!! And this was H&R Block's fee, due to an extra form that was necessary for a 401K account! It was not a government fee, not the accountant's fee, but an extra 401K form, H&R Block fee. If you have this kind of money to blow - I still recommend Fran. And if Fran ever leaves H&R Block - I will follow her! But until then...this was my last time using H&R Block. --------------------------------------------------------------- I wrote this in February 2016, under the Boston location, when I could not find the Mansfield location, so here it is ... MANSFIELD MA LOCATION... Why is there no option for it, as it deserves the following... In 2015 I unexpectedly needed a new accountant. From the minute I walked in the door, I was a satisfied client. The welcoming reception, the fact that I had a very energetic 5 year old with me, meeting Fran, Fran even interacting with my child and making it 'not so boring' for him. This year, I returned to H&R Block, and it was the same experience as last year! Warm, welcoming, genuinely not forced friendly - and my new accountant, Fran! I have already recommended her to family members. The returns she has got me in a matter of minutes is nice, but it was really the all around customer service that made the difference!
