called ace dispatch, quoted at $85 to tow my car home 4 blocks, driver hooked up car and demanded $160 on the spot or he would tow back to their yard till I paid. I called ace dispatch and the same dispatcher said "oh drivers can charge their own rate if they want, too bad" after i paid he just dropped the car in the middle of the street and damaged front alignment. read more

After today I would never ever recommend them to anyone. My father called Thursday of last week (It's the following Monday today) to schedule a tow for Monday morning. He told them everything up front, that it was on the third floor of a parking garage, gave them the clearance of 7 ft that was at both entrances and let them know my appointment was at 10:30 am at the dealership. And most importantly that I did not have ANY keys for the vehicle. That was why it was being towed to the dealership. To have keys cut and programmed as I lost the only set I had. He gave them the year, make and model as well as the VIN number. They said because it was on the 3rd story of the Village at Bayers Road shopping center parkade behind the Petro it would take 2 drivers and 2 trucks to get it down because they would need to push it down "by hand" as they could not get any of their trucks up there, so I would be charged for 2 tow trucks and drivers. They said to meet them there between 8 am and 8:30 am as my appointment at the dealership was 10:30 am. And that I would need to show them proof I owned the car. I walked there for 7:45 am just in case. I waited till 8:45 am (2 hours standing out in the cold) and they never showed. I called and was told by the woman dispatcher that they were still trying to get together 2 men to come out to tow my car and to give them a half hour more and they would get back to me. At 9:45-10 am I called back to see if they were still coming. The same woman dispatcher said it would be at least another hour. Apparently giving them 3 days notice was not enough time for them to get it together and figure out how they were going to do this and call in enough staff. I called the dealership and they said it was fine they would work on it whenever it got there and not to worry. At 12:30 (4 hours after my initial "appointment"). I still had not heard from them so I called again (for the 3rd time) and they told me it would be another 2 HOURS!!! I was seriously mad. I asked to speak to the manager and was told politely that he was "too busy" to take my call. I said to the woman that I was really not happy and why would they commit to this tow job if they did not have a way to do it and she says back: "Well I'm not to fucking happy either". I hung up. I called back not even 5 minutes later after I realized I just left myself with no way to get my car to the dealership. At this point I was determined I was going to speak to a manager, who was surprisingly available. I explained what was going on. Got a simple "Sorry we'll be there we when can" and hung up. They showed up an hour or so later. I thought the ordeal was over... But apparently it just started! The two guys who showed up could only be described as an Abbot and Costello comedy routine or 2 of the Three Stooges (unbeknownst to me the 3rd one was downstairs eating a sandwich in yet another tow vehicle). They were nice enough guys and one of them mentioned that they had just done the same thing the other day at another 3 story parkade. Should be simple enough. So they get the car open and try to find the override to put the car in neutral. After about 25 minutes of them swearing at and beating up my car one of them reaches over and opens the glove box and pulls out the car manual and flips through, finds what he is looking for and reads out loud (loud enough for my boyfriend and his father to hear): "To put the car in neutral without the keys: Contact a dealership or call a professional towing company". The other guy says "Awe, seriously?" I felt bad for him for a second. He really sounded dejected. My boyfriends father mutters under his breath "Professional being the key word" and shakes his head. In the meantime the other one is making calls trying to find someone to help them. They eventually find the manual override for neutral, get the car on a dolly type thing and start walking across the top of the parkade, they get to the FIRST speed bump and the dolly thingy they had under the front wheels falls apart on the passenger side and the wheels fall off it. So what do they do? They get fed up and get one of the two trucks that they initially brought which they said would not fit in the parkade and proceed to easily drive it up to the third floor, get the car on it and we are on the way. They apparently could have done that to begin with! We get to the bottom and there was a third tow truck from another company waiting for them. The one guy hops down, talks to him for a few minutes and then goes and gets into a 3rd vehicle! All of which I was charged for! Not one sincere apology, no offer of a discount, no credit, nothing. All I got at the end was excuses about how the truck was too heavy to bring up the parkade ramps, which is bull, when full there is over 300 cars in there, it was not even 1/4 full, if that and that they company is having "issues". Needless to say I will not be calling them back ever again. read more

WARNING!!! NEVER USE ACE TOWING!! This company has terrible customer service and gives inaccurate estimates. They took my car giving me an estimate of $115 for a tow and it ended up costing me $215. They said that they would not accept credit card because my car was in the lot over night even though they accept CC as a form of payment for most private towing services... explain that to me please??? When I asked for the reason I was told that "I didn't need an explanation and if I didn't get my car today it would be kept until the folioing monday at $70 per day" and then I was hung up on. This company is inconsiderate to their customers and do not make any effort to assist a customer in need. They use your car as leverage to take advantage of customers and are extremely rude to deal with. I will never use them again and will tell everyone not to trust them. They are rude, they lie, and will make you drive to prospect to pay in cash even though they accept CC. read more

Never again!!!! Called Ace Towing at 8:40. My car, which was low on gas, now thinks it's OUT of gas because it's parked on a downhill slope ... Can you bring me fuel, please? How long? "We can have someone there in 30 minutes," she tells me. Great. How much? "$45 plus the cost of the fuel." Ugh. Okay. 45 minutes later I call to see if they're almost here, 15 minutes later than she'd said. "Need another 15 minutes," she says. Okay. Life happens, I think. 45 minutes AFTER THAT the guy shows up with a tiny gas can and empties it into my tank. Car won't start. "Wonder if it's the fuel pump or just not enough gas yet?" I ask. He thinks it's probably the fuel pump. $62 for this "service" so far. Can you tow me a half-block to the mechanic?, I ask, reluctantly. "I'd have to charge you another $75." WHAT?!! So after waiting an hour and a half when your dispatcher told me 30 minutes - "Ma'am, I have no control over that," he says, extremely rudely. - and now you won't tow me 1/2 a block, after $62 for this, without me paying you another $75? "Nope." Just give me the bill, I said. I paid him. Rented a car, thinking I'd need it for a few days while mine's in the shop. On second thought, after getting that car, I went and filled up my 5L gas can, poured it in my tank and ... voila - enough gas to fire right up. Moron! $62 wasted on essentially a complete LACK of service. Never, never, ever again. Could have had a roadside assistance membership for $85 and had this covered. You can bet I will never make this mistake again! No wonder Ace Towing "doesn't work with CAA," as Mr. Moron told me. I'm thinking CAA doesn't work with Ace is more likely correct. read more

These folks have real poor customer service. My car was towed here and I couldn't get my car out because it was blocked for two extra days due to snow banks and them not having the proper tow trucks to get it out. Now does this make sense for a towing company not to be able to get my car out? I went there three times with no luck. So I asked them to adjust my bill and they simply laughed at me. The lady I dealt with should not be dealing with customers and the owner was too busy to talk to me. I left my number and never heard back from them. So is this fair that they bill customers for every extra day our cars stay there but not the other way around? They also damaged my car and said it wasn't them and I couldn't prove it. I hope more competition shows up in the HRM! I have complaints into the HRM staff -- the people that use these guys all the time. read more

My car died in the Windsor St exchange in rush hour this morning. I called Ace and they were there in under 10 minutes. The driver made sure I was safe and warm in his truck and took excellent care of me and my vehicle. Polite, kind, professional - the guy really helped me out. I'd recommend to anyone. read more

PLEASE DO NOT USE ACE OR ANCHOR TOWING (OWNED BY THE SAME PEOPLE) !!!! My car stalled in a busy intersection this morning. I am not familiar with Halifax towing companies so I did a quick search on google and found ACE Towing I was told it would be a 45 minute wait. After only 5 minutes it became apparent that the location of my car was dangerous as cars came around a turn at high speeds and with the glare from the sun could not see my flashing lights. I then called a second company Anchor owned by the same people as ACE to see if they could get there sooner as I felt this was a dangerous situation. Let me say that I am a responsible person and had they been able to come sooner I had every intention of calling ACE back to let them know. The lady who answers the phone starts yelling at me "you called two towing companies, you cant do that". She repeats herself several times and wont let me explain. When I finally was able to get a word in I politely explained that I was concerned about how safe the location of my car was and I just needed someone to get here sooner than 45 minutes. I then said i was going to call the other one back and cancel if they were able to come. She yelled more, asked me whats wrong with me? and told me she didn't care about my problem and she was cancelling the first tow truck. I asked what kind of customer service this was and she clearly stated I don't give a #$@ about customer service and hung up on me. Thankfully I was able to reach another tow company who was there in only ten more minutes. This kind of business does not deserve any ones business. read more

I have found that Ace towing due to their years of Towing and their practices of towing heavy trucks is by far the best company for the Maritime s. I believe that some comments on here were placed by competition or wanna be companies who haven't got the knowledge nor the wherewithal to complete some of the heavier jobs or movement of Substantial loads safely. Some people want allot in getting their cars out quickly, I prefer having the work done safely and having it delivered in one piece, And if the roads are bad maybe people shouldn't be out on them, it takes time to drive a truck to a job in this area as some people when they go off the road here it is always dealing with water and granite, and it takes patience to get a vehicle that is wrapped around a hundred ton boulder and have the car be extracted so not only is the environment protected but the people living down the road able to get home without having the road tied up for days so if a vehicle is off the road then it can wait until traffic is done, and we don't have any roads with light traffic in this area. But if you want your vehicle back and to keep the environment safely kept in doing so, These are your guys. The most experienced fleet of the entire area. read more

Ace Towing, what can I say that everyone else on here hasn't already? What a joke of a company. I needed a shed moved. Not far, only about 50ft. I decided to Google companies that might offer the necessary services. I knew in the back of my head that most flatbed and craning services would be able to hook me up but I figured I would look. Sure enough Ace is the first name in the Google search. Figured I should give them a call and see what the cost would be. I tend to be a very pleasent on the phone when calling people so that they will be at least mildly helpful. Wellllllllllll then I get the dispatcher. "I was wondering if you could quote me a price." She quickly snapped at me "what it is", in the tone I would expect of someone who was just asked to sacrafice their first born son. "Just a shed." Her response? She quickly snapped again, "we don't move sheds" ***click***. It actually explicity says on the website that they do "small building" relocation. My biggest question now is if a shed isn't a "small building" then what is? This is not my first experience with Ace however. My first time dealing with them was when my car got towed from the DND Dockyard parking lot (I know it was my fault). I then was told that I would have to call the different companies because the commish who writes tickets apparently doesn't log who towed the cars. Brilliant. So I called the other companies who DND uses. Both said basically the same thing: we have no record of having towed that plate number. Cool. That was easy. Called Ace. Asked if they had towed a car with my plate on it. The response: "how the hell am I supposed to know?" Hah. Fantastic. I had a fuel sensor go on my car. My car went from just under 1/4 tank to thinking it was empty. Called the dealership because I had free roadside assistance. They sent Ace with some fuel because the service manager says that it should work well enough to get me to the dealership. The driver shows up and literally called me an idiot for running out of fuel. I asked if he was being paid to deliver it. He said yes. Are you a mechanic? No. My response: "then shut up, do what you are getting paid for and get out of here." Just to yourself a favour and call ANYONE ELSE! read more

I can't believe I'm forced to leave one star. Clearly, way too much credit. I WARN you, not because I'm bitter, but because I'm honestly saving you from tragedy. This is by FAR the worst company (not just towing) but in general I have ever had to deal with. I would have rather pay 5 times the amount then go through he hell I did with them. I was left convinced the entire companies reps had just been plagued with a Terminal disease. I was qoutes 50.00 bucks literally pull my car about 10 feet out of ice. Which took about 5 minutes. That jumped to 100.00 bucks. The guy was an absolute moron. Lecturing me about how "stupid" I am for getting my car stuck. On 3 occassion I asked him To leave the car and beat it. Just kept working. When I called to speak to an owner or manager (I was yelled at) and told I could speak to the dispatcher. Some lunatic woman. Believe me. Unless you want to burn your money, get lectured about how you're a terrible human being you are, and get hung up on. Do not call these losers. You're better off sleeping in your trunk, writing up a business plan whilst in there. Applying for a grant. Opening up your own towing company and getting yourself out. Beats calling these jerks.
