Randy did a fantastic job removing some significant dents from a vintage Conn 8D Horn I had…read morerecently purchased. The instrument was, annoyingly, damaged during shipping from the seller. Randy's work was marvelous; one must look carefully to see any trace of the previous damage. Additionally, his prices were very, very reasonable given the quality of the work. I will be bringing him instruments in the future for normal maintenance as well as any emergencies. Highly recommended.

Could not be happier dealing with Randy. My hometown instrument tech (in the Norfolk area) retired,…read moreleaving me (and a stable of saxes) bereft. I heard great things about Randy on the noteworthy Sax on the Web board, and tried him out with my near-junker alto. He spotted a couple pad leaks, regulated some wonky keys and generally made it sound better than I had ever heard it sound. Then he took on the acid test: An overhaul of my 60-year-old Keilwerth stencil bari, an absolute screamer pro horn. Full repad, tone-hole leveling, general tightening of the mechanicals. But what really blew me away was his attention to detail: "Yeah, this one rod was a little worn after all those years ... so I took it off, moved it a couple millimeters and re-soldered it." Oh, and he was apologetic that he delivered it a day or two late ... because Navy and Marine band players came in with emergency repairs. When the pros-of-pros are coming to your tech, you know you're found a good tech. My horns certainly agree.

ZZ is the best!! I…read morebrought in a violin to his workshop a few weeks ago that I'd played over two decades ago that had several issues that required the right luthier's TLC. I was hoping ZZ could repair it for my Mom, as her birthday was coming up soon, and I was hoping to gift my violin to her. She has always wanted to learn how to play it, but never had the chance until recently after she retired. As a child of working class parents in a small town, her parents simply couldn't afford the materials and lessons for her to follow her passion. ZZ did a phenomenal job examining the violin and walking me through the various options for repairs and what they would cost. In addition to his true professionalism and extensive knowledge, he is also delightfully down-to-earth and lovely to work with. I continue to be impressed with his craftsmanship, and am eternally grateful to have found him on my search for local luthiers! He has completely transformed my violin into a beautiful looking and sounding instrument that I know my Mom will treasure for years to come. Cannot recommend him highly enough for those needing expert violin repairs and advice!
