Ultimately i got let go because i took a trip to montana for a family reunion and they believed i was going to transfer to a new mine up there. the supervisor's are insanely political, you'll get no where without planting your lips on someone's ass, and if you have any moral fiber kiss that goodbye if you work here. I understand it's coal mining and it's to be expected but some of the things i heard down there were simply mind blowing, along with depraved. all that being said, it is a fun job the work is interesting albeit dangerous, and everyone does look out for everyone else, one of the safest mines i've seen, but, it is a mine. some people can thrive in this enviroment, but me, i don't much like having to take up a new hobby i hate, just so i don't get fired...cause that's what it's like with management. if you don't worship the ground they walk both on and off the job, you won't have a job long. All that being said this is an excellent job for what i used it for, pay off your bills, get out of debt, and then get the hell out of there. the money is very good.

My boyfriend has worked at Twenty Mile Coal for just over a year now and he really likes it. It's…read morehard work, and it's dangerous, but they do the best they can to keep it safe. He works as much as he wants, but the work schedule is nice. It's either four 10 hour shifts or three 13 hour shifts. They pay is good and they give out bonuses for just about everything. He's been rewarded for good decisions and really takes pride in doing a good job. He also really likes that he doesn't have to deal with a lot of drama or politics at work. When he goes in he does his job and that's it. Obviously, it's impossible to like everyone, but this is as close as it's ever been with a job. He comes home happy and stress free almost every day (never seen that with any other job). The perks are good and plenty. There are also a lot of incentives to do things the right way the first time to keep things running smoothly and safely. We live about 20 minutes from the mine and it's a pretty decent drive, but can get a little hairy in the winter, which isn't a problem with snow tires and being careful on the roads (that we both drive frequently). The area is beautiful! We've seen elk, deer, eagles, beavers and all sorts of other wildlife around here and the fall view is breath taking with all the aspens. The people in the area are neighborly and friendly. We couldn't love our situation anymore than we do now. We've become good friends with others that work at the mine. And spend time with them outside of work. The guys (and gals) there, for the most part, are all pretty decent. And I always know that the people he's working with have his back if the worst happens. I would say it's not a job for anyone who is claustrophobic though. The long hours underground, in the dark, can be intimidating and it's definitely not for everyone. I've known people that didn't like it there because of that. I've also known people that were extra sensitive and didn't care much for the jocular interactions between the guys. It's like working around men anywhere, they joke around a lot. So, if you don't like that kind of thing, it's also probably not for you. Otherwise, if you're hard working, and enjoy getting paid well for the work you do, this is a great place that really does what they can to take care of their employees. Extremely unorganized. When asked for assistance on selecting beer installation options, the recommendations changed every single time. Jeff came out twice, once before and the final time today. Prior to and in between visits, we talked over the phone and email. Based on Jeff's recommendations, I had preexisting holes in the wall patched up because we were going through a different route for a beer tower. On today's visit, he said we should reuse these very same holes and recommended I install a walk-in cooler for keg storage. Told him this is why I needed him onsite earlier when requested so we could AGAIN confirm the plan based on the prior phone conversations after the initial site visit had him with no recollection of the job (1 week after meeting), then altering the equipment suggestions. And now this today. When I told him that this inconsistency has caused a month delay, cost me money having walls patched and painted, and wasted my time, he copped attitude with me so I told him to leave. Then he asked me outside to fight upon leaving! Great, great business! Stay away. There are plenty of other beer techs in Colorado. The "eruption" came when Jeff said that I "f***ed him" because I asked him to make two site visits. I have two witnesses and camera footage with audio to boot. This guy gets over on the insurance company and the locals.
