Really impressed with this tattoo shop. I found that they turn away a decent amount of work because they want to make certain the customers know that weight loss will reposition the tattoo, and other things like that. They require ID to be tattooed/pierced as they don't do any work on minors. I think these guys have a strong ethical compass, and they are true artists. I would not hesitate to recommend either of them to a friend.

I mean it was just a name and a certain font but he took the time to ask me why the name and the font. I told him that this was the last of my kids that I needed to get tattooed and now I could get some other artwork done that I had been planning. The artists name is Manny. I thanked him for the work and that I would be back. I came back today. I stopped by the shop, Manny was there. I knew he wasn't going to recognize me, no big deal. But I wanted to make sure that I gave him the work because he seemed to be a nice hard working artist who can only get better. I pulled out my phone, showed him some pics of the work I wanted done. It was 2 bands on my right arm and before I could tell him that I wanted Faith written in latin, he cut me off. He said that the bands wasn't difficult to do and that the bands wouldn't be straight. They might look straight on one side but they would come out crooked on the other side. Then he started telling me that he doesn't do trendy work. Tribal, bands, and he went on to mentioned other styles were trendy and his professional opinion, he doesn't do trendy. I felt like a complete fool. Prior to coming into the shop, I looked up the history, culture, and any background information I could find on the band tattoos. I wanted to make sure that I didn't offend anyone or a culture. What I found was that the band tattoos have become very popular. In some articles I read, the cultures that embrace this art form encouraged this tattoo because some folks educated themselves on how/why people got these band tattoos. The tattoo symbolizes a loss, mourning of a loved one, or a great or significant accomplishment. Manny went on and on and even mentioned that in his professional opinion, he wouldn't do the tattoo. Yes, "professional opinion" was mentioned more than one time. So I asked, so you wouldn't do it? He said well no but maybe we can do something different, put a spin on the tattoo, make it different. I then said well, this tattoo is for my daughter who serves in the US Navy. Again, I couldn't finish what I was going to say when he said, Oh bro ya we can do it definitely, we can do it. I don't have time this week but next week. I said ok, I'll be back. I couldn't walk out of there fast enough. The folks in shop sitting behind me, I felt like they were laughing at me. I felt like a fool. My daughter, in the US Navy, and I are working on getting tattoos that have meaning to both of us. I'm not trying to be popular or follow a trend. I want to look down at my tattoo and smile thinking about my daughter. Already making plans to meet her in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area later this month to get the tattoo up there. Neal mentions customer service, this wasn't customer service. Maybe update your website to inform your potential customers that you're no longer tattooing certain but more focused on another style. Writing this still doesn't make me feel any better. Thought I found some I could trust and appreciate their work for years.

My body is already very sensitive with piercings! I even asked my piercer about this and the worst part is... HE ALLOWED me. It was my FIRST time getting piercings on my face. I'm currently writing this from the bathroom floor at 4:25 AM, awake from the pain, because I did not take the time to read the reviews on this place. I am so bummed out. I have been cleaning them, washing them with alcohol free mouthwash, putting antibiotic cream on, literally doing the most for them to heal properly. It's no surprise only my nose healed properly since I specifically chose to do a stud because I know cartilage piercings are SUPER easy to get keloids on. From personal experience. Might just have to take them out and try again at a different piercing shop once the tissue heals (hopefully). They also look crooked. My friend just recently got her first tattoo with Pablo Moreno (whom I now found out used to work at Dark Side of the Moon) and loved it! I'm not trying to give the place a bad rep but.... I think it's safe to say they don't really care for their customer's safety or health as long as you hand them that money and walk out of the place. I'm leaving one star cause at least my nose piercing healed fine (no thanks to them because my piercer was telling me it was up to personal styling decision whether I wanted a stud or a hoop). SKIP IT!

I came to Ace (Alvaro Cardenas) for a cover up on a garter tattoo on my thigh. I wanted a bouquet…read moreof flowers, assorted colors, styles & sizes. As an artist, he claimed what I was asking for would not work. I trusted his opinion as an artist. I am not a tattoo artist, I am not 100% sure of what can be done as a tattoo, much less as a cover up. I had a friend who had several pieces of ink done by him, so I went ahead & began my tattoo. Mistake 1. I asked for sunflowers along the side of my hip & thigh, & a bouquet of flowers wrapped along my entire thigh. My sunflowers came out as regular flowers. The outline looked good, so I allowed him to continue to work on me. At the next session, he tattooed the color. He did each of the 4 large flowers one solid color. I voiced that flowers are usually multicolored to add dimension & make the colors pop. I was told, "it's not done, I'm going to add more black to make them stand out." 2. While the first portion of my tattoo was healing we began on the top half of my thigh. At the start of this session, I once again showed him examples of the bouquet I wanted. He has me lay down while he tattoos. I sit up, & to my horror, he tattooed 5 more of the exact same flower. I tell him this is not what i wanted & we did not agree on this. He tells me, "i thought this would look better." Should have been the end, but I expected him to "fix" it. 3. I go in for the color on the flowers. Again, does one solid color, not even completely colored in. I tell him it looks childish & i don't think we should continue our work. He tells me, "it's not done. Trust me, i know what I'm doing." 4. I am skeptical to continue. I once again voice all of my concerns. He "pretends" to understand. We get a stencil done for my ship & octopus tattoo, and begin my other thigh with an underwater tattoo. He COMPLETELY ruins the octopus. The tentacles look absolutely nothing like the pictures I had shown him, nor do they look like the stencil he had put on me. 5. Payment was agreed as "half to start, half to finish." He tells me before the last session, "I just paid all my bills, so I'm gonna need you to bring more money." That was not the agreement; your "bills" are not my concern. I attempted to be a nice person & gave another partial payment. At that same session, he adds "filigree" to the flowers on the top of my thigh. Problem being, for the THIRD TIME, he does something different than what we agreed upon. The filigree he added is not what I told him I wanted. It is ugly as hell & the lines are jagged as well as scarred! And on top of that, the entire piece was supposed to be underwater, but he tattooed waves on the bottom of the octopus. 6. When I got home, i realized what an awful job he had done on the octopus, and the fact that he took it upon himself to change my tattoo several times without consulting me. He tells me "I'm sad you're not going to let me finish." What! He agrees to give me a (very small) partial payment. Not only did we not complete the first half, but he changed a lot of things AND as the sessions went on, his work got worse & worse. After agreeing to a payment, he tells me to stop by the shop that weekend for my money back. i do, but he does not have my refund. He then proceeds to ignore me for over a month now. if pictures could be posted I would show the horrible evidence. Twice the time and money are going to be needed to fix this. The worst part is that he was careless with a tattoo that is permanently going to be on my body. Many changes are going to be needed to make them look better & in the end, regardless of how well my cover up turns out, it will still be something different than what i wanted originally. DO NOT GET A TATTOO DONE BY ACE @ Ace's high tattoos. Currently located on Commerce in Harlingen. (Google has not been updated, & the address is still listed as Sam Houston in San Benito) This man is a con artist, at best.
