Dickie offered to go to his next stop, come back and force flush the remaining sludge in order to perform a full and complete pumpout. I agreed, and within 2 hours he was back, ran hoses again and was successful in dislodging and completly cleaning out the compacted sludge. Instead of charging me for two pumpouts, as would be customary I'm sure from any other company, we agreed pn a very reasonable extra charge for the additional time and work. Five years ago, my entire basement was flooded in 2 inches deep of water at 2 AM. First, I ventured into the pool in the basement and turned off the main intake valve for the house, then at 2:30 AM I phoned his emergency hotline. A half an hour later, at 3 AM he phoned me back. He instructed me that as long as the water was not turned off, he would send someone at 8 AM. Sure enough, two plumbers arrived at my doorstep at 8 AM, and located and fixed a busted valve. Six months ago, his crew replaced the faucets on two sinks and fixed a leaking drainpipe on one of the sinks. But five months later, the drainpipe began to leak again. This time, Ed himself arrived. As usual, he fully explained to me the problem. I did not hint that maybe the leak had not been properly fixed six months earlier, and was ready to pay for his visit and quick fix.
