I was in the process of transferring my bank balances to Achieva, went in and spent a good amount of time speaking to a friendly clerk, but wasn't ready to make the transfer as I was waiting for 1 account to straighten out. Low and behold, I get a letter from Achieva telling me they are sending me to collections. First of all, I never left a dime there initially, and to get the letter.....how repulsive. Has anyone else experienced the nightmare of a rollout on the Credit Cards for Achieva initiated on July 26-27 2025? Customers have lost all online access to bank statements and credit card activity. My accounts backed up on external drive and pdf show I paid my credit card bill in full on the due date, yet it was not reflected prior to becoming invisible during "system maintenance". Not only that, almost $3000 of MY money is NOT in my checking account, and I have been assessed late fees for non-payment. The CEO Eric Jenkins has been in charge less than 6 months and is in charge of this debacle. He owes every one of the members an explanation, in public, in person. Stop pretending we don't know what's going on. Issuing generic messages at random times for "patience" are disingenuous and a waste of my reading time. Give us SPECIFICS on what you, Jenkins, are personally instructing your hapless inept credit card vendor to do to fix this debacle. You have created a financial mess the likes of which many of us have never seen in a credit union. My CU experience started in 1981, and will end with Achieva - one way or another. read more

The only part of Achieva Credit Union was the excellent interest rate when I refinanced our home from a 30 to a 15 year home loan with the same Achieva Credit Union. Their policy regarding release of hurricane insurance money is ridiculous. Our balance is only $90,000.00 yet they won't release all of the insurance money. We never miss a payment and our credit rating is +800. We are responsible homeowners who detest having to beg for our insurance money for which the credit union would not release completely. I have been communicating with one representative for several months. I even threatened to pay off the loan completely so they have to release my money. They don't appear to be concerned. So they will lose thousands of $$ in lost interest rates instead of accommodating our simple desire to get our money available. With management like this Achieva will be closing offices with attitudes like this. Along with Bank of America and Achieva Credit Union I will be keep our money in a different bank/CU. So real estate is not selling and thousands having to walk away from their homes. I understand that they have an interest in our home loan. However, we detest having to be subject to the credit unions "mood". Releasing all of our insurance money will not reduce or detract from the value of our home. Our little 2015 2/2 block home sits on one acres on Pine Island, Florida. Fact is even if we just walked away with the remaining $57,000.00 the credit union would not lose anything. Service simply keeps getting worse and worse......If it wasn't so hard to change automatic deposits I would close my accounts. Can't even get a roll of quarters without a problem, took 15 minutes to get quarters even when I gave them $20, then followed me out....(I've been a member for over 30 years).......horrible........They do have one fantasic employee read more

My daughter went to the Achieva credit union on US 19 in Palm Harbor and deposited cash and checks into the ATM. Three weeks later, she receives a debit from her account for the amount of the check that she had deposited. She went into the Palm Harbor branch, and they basically told her that on that day their ATM was updating and didn't accept the check. Even though she had a receipt saying that it did. They told her to re-deposit the check which she didn't have anymore or that she had to go get a new check issued from her employer. This is completely unacceptable. This was not her fault, It was their ATM problem yet, they would not rectify it. We are so disappointed in Achieva credit union as we have been using them for years. Now my daughter is out $133.00. This Credit Union is the worst banking institution I have ever delt with. They allow you deposit money and have a safe deposit box. That's it. They bombard me with emails to apply for their credit card. Okay, I have applied 3 times in 4 years and NEVER got any kind of reply. No denial, no acceptance, NOTHING. I recently deposited a fairly large sum of money and asked about refinancing my car loan. They DON'T do that in house at Port Charlotte. WTF? They had to send an email to someone that would contact me. NEVER happened. I go into the local office to inquire why my NEW and UPDATED BILL PAY is so screwed up. Also asked about not hearing from anyone about a car loan. I had actually called a week before to inquire about the loan. NOW they sent checks to 2 different mortgage companies and I just got a rejection notice from ACHEIVA!!! read more

I would'nt do any more business with them. I should have paid attention to the ratings before I transferred from an even poorer customer service at Suncoast Credit Union in Florida. The account is just a month New and I have had more anxiety than I care to chat about. An account was opened without my knowledge which they said was Fraud and want me to file a Police Report for them opening an application for me to transfer my Credit Card from one Bad C.U. to another. Not Buying it! . The 5 days before the end of my 30 day hold period on my checking account I was told that it would be 9 days but the Customer Svcs. Rep. wrote in 13 days. What? Ugh! Unfortunately my experiences have been poor with this credit union. For starters, each time I call to make a payment(their website is horrible) I either get a rep who only asks a couple of security questions or a rep that may as well get a blood sample. Also, I called my branch recently to discuss a home mortgage refi. I was advised to set up a time to meet with someone at the branch to discuss the loan; once I got to the branch, the rep had to call someone at another location who tried to answer my questions. I get in the drive-thru line today at 5:10p. Twenty minutes before closing. I wait 20 min. Ten minutes in after the line has moved nowhere, the red 'Closed' sign comes on. Ten minutes to 5:30. Each person in front of me took 10 min to serve, and then JUST as its our turn you close the f window on me right at 5:30p sharp even though I've been in line 20 min. You don't accept Zelle because you're a credit union. Your mobile app doesnt work on my phone all of a sudden so I can't do digital deposits as I have for the last 3 years - and then you close the drive thru curtain on me because I have to bring a physical check and your tellers are very slow. Thanks for staying open 5 more min to fit me in. I'm glad I left work early just to do this bc were all in this together. Going back to big banks asap. They are ALL open until 6 today. This applies to Achieva as a whole, not this particular branch. I joined some 40 years ago as a teen when it was call Pinellas County Teachers CU. Over the years it has grown, mostly by merging with other CUs. About ten years ago it started to change. Now they act as a poorly managed bank looking to generate fees than a CU that takes care of its members. So between now and summer I will be closing my credit card and moving my banking to USAA. Bad company policies. I have had a car loan for the past year with Achieva. With auto-pay, I never miss a payment and never late. My insurance increased this year so I shopped around and switched to a different carrier. I made an error in the new policy start date by one day. Achieva, along with their insurance partner, two months after the missed day of coverage, bought me an insurance policy for the day I missed two months ago. The charged me for 30 days of the policy even though it was in effect for one day. The answer I got from Achieva customer service was - that's their policy. The value of the assessed charge is equal to one month of interest they get from me for my loan. With 3 years left on the loan, they will lose a whole lot more from the lost interest than the fee they assessed as I am moving the balance of my loan to Suncoast Credit Union. read more

I went into the branch at US 19 Palm Harbor and used their check-in tablet. They eventually got to me and said it would be "a minute" and someone could help me. They said that they couldn't read my handwriting from the tablet. I mentioned that it was typed (kinda' snide) and they said "okay". A short time later, I was approached by a young man who said they were short-handed, might be a half hour or more and suggested I go to the closest branch in Eastlake. I thought that was rather rude to go from 1 minute to a half hour. Anyways, I went to Eastlake branch the next day and was approached by a pleasant young woman. Terri is unprofessional, rude and has a terrible attitude. After being belittled over a simple bank error that had been cleared up and paid for, I asked her if there was a problem as she was clearly being judgmental. She freaked out, YELLED AT ME, before storming out of the room to go find her branch manager. Who, by the way, everyone had a different story about where he was when asked to speak with him. Needless to say, my boyfriend and I walked out. Tried to call and speak with the Assistant Branch Manager, Joshua, about the experience. But he never called back. Which was one of the issues we had in the first place as the Branch Manager was supposed to call us weeks prior. Terri is a flake who needs proper training in Customer Service. Not to mention she was writing personal information, like my boyfriends social security number, on a NOTEPAD. What?! Who does that? Especially a bank! We went to the East Bay Chase. Harry West helped us and was kind and accommodating. Save yourself the headaches, lies, ridiculous fees, mistreatment and unethical practices and go bank with Chase. If you're looking specifically for a credit union. Florida Central Credit Union in Seminole is also fabulous. I'd give them 0 stars if I could. I've been with Achieva since they took over for Pinellas County Teacher Credit Union. I have had multiple loans, heloc, vehicle, personal ect. I have credit cards with them as well. I have never missed a payment or even been late, ever. I have never missed a payment on any debt I have. So when they tell me I'm denied a relief loan during the pandemic, it makes me question how much they really want to help people. read more

Wish I had read the reviews before deciding to bank with Achieva. Recently refinanced my primary home and wanted to get a home equity at the same time which I have done many times with previous homes. I was told no problem and when I closed I was told wait two weeks. I waited two weeks was then told by a different employee I need to wait six months. They're not "banking for good", they're banking on you. Been with them for years and the people at the local branches are awesome: the problem is corporate. I have a newer business account for a passion project that I occasionally get to work on, and I woke up one day with over 450$ in over draft fees from it looks like two attempted transactions (They just kept trying to hit... and finally courtesy pay kicked in) I Asked to speak with a manager since customer service can't reverse more than one charge, but did not hear from a manager until almost end of business after the weekend (understandable, but what if this was my only account?) manager said they can't do anything, because they get charged a fee from the other bank? Lol, okay: BOA can do it, no questions asked.... work with me, tell me reference numbers and which bank to call, and I'll get your money back, if that's the case... To me, this is very predatory since a lot of people are living paycheck to paycheck, inflation, etc... in my situation, I've been waiting to get paid from a slow to pay vendor and didn't realize it was still hooked up to my PayPal to absorb charges. So at the end of the month, they lose me, a customer of over a decade, the 4 accounts that go with me, and a few of my friends as well Who joined because I adore the people at my local branch... that's a lot more than the 450 it cost me. side note: Suncoast CU was was easier to deal with while getting a vehicle loan late last year.... Achieva took days to get back to me throughout the process: Suncoast had me funded in less than an hour. read more

This is a great institution when you don't have a problem. When you have a problem the customer service experience is pretty horrible. They rarely can resolve an issue. Their policy is that you can never speak with a supervisor by phone they have a 24hr call back policy. Customer service should be key I'm sure everyone who has a problem and is requesting to speak with a supervisor loves to wait 24hrs to have their issue resolved.Today I had a very rude member services advisor who was no help accused me of lying and now I'm waiting 24hrs to having my issue resolved. I many have to reconsider my banking needs and the ability this credit union has to meet those needs. read more

been a member since when called teachers credit union. tried to withdraw and close me acct under radar by taking 10k -1 dollar out over several days and each time i was harassed. even had someone from another branch on voice with the seminole brach lady in the office and he wanted to know why I wanted to w/draw my money. i asked him if it was ok to record what he was saying and he declined. well i finally got my money out and then decided to reopen at this branch asking me to pls do business in the future. now they are telling me that i can't put the money back under radar and they are closing my new acct. I loved this credit Union when I joined a couple years ago, but when Bob Asaro was transferred from Cape Coral to St. Pete ... This branch became a horrible place. My daughter received different misinformation on two occasions regarding the same issue with their cellphone protection that is part of the checking plus service that costs $6.95/ month. I was given different information than either of the procedures she was told and then I was told to look online. This pay Saturday, I called and spoke to Justin at 12:30 and told him I was coming in to open an account (getting in my car at that point would be there shortly) ... I was bringing someone I had referred with me to open an account. There was no parking so after circling the lot for about 7 minutes we walked in at 12:51. When we walked in the gentleman (I'm assuming was Justin) never looked up. The lady told us they close at 1:00 and opening an account takes 30 minutes, so we'd need to come back another day. She was snide and suggested we come on a weekday. I know this may be a shock to the banking world, but most people work during the day on weekdays. Some of us even work on Saturdays. We were there during the time the branch is open. Perhaps they should post their hours as open to 1:00 but only working until 12:30. I have sent at least 10 families to open accounts at Acheiva now I feel like I should apologize to all of them. read more

Achieva has changed a lot over the years. Before they used to be the Pinellas County Teachers Credit Union. This was a fantastic bank. Wonderful customer service, great auto loan rates, the works. What you would expect from a local credit union. A lot of this has changed in the last few years. It appears new interests have taken over and customer service has dropped dramatically. Fees upon fees now exist, and its worse than the major banks. $0.25 fee every time you use your debit card was the first big one. I've since changed banks. I do not recommend them, as they do a disservice to the credit union name. read more

My husband died a year ago. He has a car loan through Achieva Credit Union. They won't give me, his wife, access to his account so that I can see what I'm paying towards principle, interest, etc. I called them yet again today. They keep telling me he is the only one that can get information!!! Really?? From the grave?? And everytime my son goes to the bank to make the payment, they give him a hard time.....really? Just take the money!!!!  I need to SEE the infomation. How much do we owe? How much interest are we paying? Are they calculating it correctly? When is the final payment due? How much ahead have I paid?? What are they hiding ? Are they ripping me off? Maybe the loan is already paid off and they are just taking my money!  I need answers And Achieva needs to be transparent in their business practices. I mainly deal with the Largo Florida branch. Let me start by saying that my review is not specific to the Pinellas Park branch but an overall review of the credit union. I only gave it 2 stars for the good ole days; otherwise, I would rate them as a 1 (or lower) star financial institution. I've been a customer for over 10 years and on 7/31/17 they converted to a "Plus" checking account charging a ridiculous monthly fee of $6.95 for services that a major credit card would offer for free. Also, they advertise that the fee is justified for their "high yield" interest. This only applies to savings account and not checking like the previous Emerald account. I'll be closing both my accounts and spreading the word. Worst checking account and implementation of a new product. read more

Gladly, Achieva is not a big bank atmosphere. Since technically, I'm part owner as its a credit union, I walk around like I own the place...which technically I do....since its a credit union. Kidding aside, I've never understood that aspect of credit unions. I realize I'm a shareholder by being a member, but of course that's honorary. Service at Achieva's branches is always efficient, friendly, and accurate. They are always willing to help with any account issues and do their best to provide loans to members when they need them....good credit score required of course. I'm glad I made the switch to credit unions years upon years ago. Do you see a big difference in daily life...no. However, when you need assistance with a problem, try getting it resolved at Bank of America....the tellers and customer service staff just laugh at you while trying to evict you from a house you own. I am only giving them 1 star because I have too. This credit union tries to pull all the tricks they can to steal your hard earned money like the big wall street banks. I have caught them Twice trying to get me for $34.00 in return item fees that they think most people would just overlook and pay. And today they are trying it again. They also tried to charging me 2 extra points on a car loan and I caught them doing that. I'm done with them I want I bank I can Trust not have to watch all the time to make sure they aren't trying to rob me of my hard earned money. I joined Achieva 7 years ago after being tired of the big bank's fees and lack of customer service. Unfortunately, Achieva is no better than Wells or BofA as they are just looking for ways to bring in extra revenue thru hidden fees. I have both of my company accounts there plus personal because when I signed up they were free accounts but I just realized today that they have been charging me $6.95 per month to have a checking account that was supposed to be free. They "took the liberty" of upgrading me to a "better" checking account without ever even notifying me there was a $6.95 fee each month. Even though I run both of my companies thru their bank, they only agreed to credit me back 3 of the charges even though they admit that they enrolled me in it without my permission. I'm done with this shady company and it sucks that I have to now go setup all my bill pays and corporate accounts at another bank but I have no choice as this place has gone down hill! read more
