This drives my costs through the roof unnecessarily as David embarks on a quest to use my project needs as a springboard for his career. While this is understandable it isn't acceptable. His rates are astronomical. He is essentially a glorified interior designer parading as an architect, with little to no new construction experience even though he has been in business "nearly 20 years". Numerous times I have accidentally overheard him berating and belittling his employees to the point I felt uncomfortable. I am surprised there are no claims or lawsuits filed against him yet (although I have not checked) or had a visit by the state labor board. In that respect apparently his reputation precedes him. I have also overheard him berating clients privately to his employees and others, not a very good practice for someone who calls themselves a "professional". I would recommend anyone considering this "architect" to evaluate him and his practices with a keen eye and a assure yourself that this is really a good fit for you as well as someone you would want to support considering his real experiences and the way he conducts himself. My personal experience has been one of trepidation, delayed deadlines, excuses, expensive invoices, scope creep, poor performance, over-promise and under-deliver. Proceed with caution, regardless of the "awards" he touts, most of which have been found to be acquired in conjunction with a friendly connection or a paid advertising model of some sort. In addition to our kitchen, we were working with Scott to do an addition of our upstairs to include a master bath suite and closet as well as adding a fourth bedroom. Scott was very much involved with every aspect of the "leg work". He attended countless meetings with our General Contractor, recommended a fantastic structural engineer, and worked closely with the surveyor. After hearing our initial concerns, Scott advised us against doing this addition as he felt that it would not be a good return on our investment. I was so very impressed by his honesty!
