I go to this locations to get something for lunch, I work close by. They always have a great variety of take out sandwiches, pre packed. They have a nice variety of take out chicken, hot. The place is really clean, wide selection of wine and beer. Centrally located near a bank and target. The employees at the Deli counter are self checkout are nice. Prices are prices. read more

This location is not good. They have 10 self checkouts for express only but only ever have one cashier on and it's the wine/beer line. This means all customers with over 15 items and anyone purchasing alcohol are in that line. Line is always long and if you are a poor person buying one 6 pack you have to wait forever to make your purchase. My suggestion go anywhere else. It used to be a nice location but not anymore!!! read more

OMG, what a tough crowd here for these reviews. It is not as nice as Paoli, nor nearly as big. But it does the job for standard items. True, if we didn't use WholeFoods (like 0.1mi away) for most of our grocery shopping, I'd complain, but we don't, so for the rare need to stop here, it works for us. They have a big-ish wannabe beer-garden area right at the front, like that's the main business, which I have not seen so readily obvious in other Acmes. Selection is sparse, though, true. I have searched for many an item that they just don't have the space to carry. So this is like a convenience-store Acme, as far as we regard it. It's by no means a one-stop shop. Checkers always look miserable, and they almost have me wishing for that obnoxious TJ's chipper crap. ALWAYS some kind of redic line at customer service, too, for the oddest customer issues I've ever seen, normally involving lottery tix and old people. Got a bunch of balloons to fill my husband's car for his b-day a couple years ago, and the woman in floral who did the balloons, was really helpful and sweet. * * * TIP * * * Devon Acme's Fried Chicken is consistently the most meaty & tender of all surrounding Acmes. read more

This location is a sad excuse for a grocery store and a perfect example of a firm that has to question their commitment to the foodservice industry. I was in there buying a full cart of food, on a Saturday afternoon and they only had two checker lines open. Acme Management your local competition has a full complement of checkers ready, willing and able to eat your lunch. It's time to think about the future of Acme in the area. read more

So, I went grocery shopping here and all of the human cashier aisles were closed and I had to self check out. There was what seemed to be a nice little old lady there to assist if anybody needed help. From the first four letters I could see of her name tag it started with Yola Well this old lady literally stared and stood right next to the kiosk I used the whole time I bagged my groceries. There were other customers there but she solely had her eyes on me. She even went as far as to tell me I need to skip bagging instead of putting my items in the bagging area. That's cool but I didn't ask for help. I don't like how she tried to belittle me, she also laughed at the way I was bagging my items and I find it very disrespectful. She did not behave that way with the white customers. She is a older person so she was around during the most racist times of America and I think she doesn't know how to let that go. Black people are not your children! I am a grown woman. I do not need you to tell me how to bag my groceries or what to do if I need help I'm sure I know how to ask you while you're staring at me bagging everything. It was very awkward. Thanks read more

It's almost embarrassing that this acme still exists. Where should I start? First, the produce there is always terrible! In fact one time I was trying to pick out parsley and next to me was an employee that unpacking some onions on display. I pulled out a bunch of parsley and accidentally dropped it on the floor. The employee say this happen so me being nice, picked it up gave it to him and apologized. He then proceeded to tell me to just put it back because people should be washing it any way. I could go on and on about how rude their staff is or how dirty it is in there. Their parking is ok except for the arrogant people who park right next to the building and leave their cars unintended! I once watched an old lady almost get hit by a passing car because the driver never saw her leaving the store. I told the manager about this and he told me to stop policing their lot. They have 2 lines open during the busiest hours of the day and got rid of their self check out lanes. So if I have 3 things I have to wait in line for 20 min while the slow employee scans all 40 groceries that the person in front of me is buying. Their meats are disgusting! Make sure to wear gloves while handling their packages unless you want salmonella. The only positive thing about this acme is that it's down the street from my house so when I'm done I can get home in 2 min to drink and complain to my wife about how crappy that store is and how a 15 min trip took an hour! read more

Ever wonder why Wegman's is packed and ACME is empty, despite ACME's convenient location in Wayne? Lack of quality produce, meat and seafood is just the start. The employees at the Wayne ACME are incompetent and rude. They blocked up the aisles, chatting with each other during price changes or stocking. You have to ask several times for them to move, then you get the evil eye. They are incredibly slow at check out. It seems like management is afraid to coach, discipline and fire these folks. If you insist on ACME at least go to Paoli, where the customer service team makes an effort. read more

Abysmal. Couldn't find anything. Store is akin to a poorly run zoo. Also, every employee Ive come in contact with is an absent minded cave dweller with no knowledge of where anything is. They are actually cheating on the prices. An example is that they told you buy 1 get 2 free for pork ribs and and gave a product name "Genuine Pork Spare or Baby Back Ribs", but they never gave you the unit price and you even couldn't find the ribs by name from their website. Actually buy-1-get-2-free was for previously frozen ribs with a unbelievable high price about $11 per pound. read more

I was a loyal Acme shopper for decades and I have decided Acme is the worst supermarket in the western Main Line area. Prices are high and customer service are low relative to Wegmans, Trader Joes and in some cases, even Whole Foods. Yengling Lager is $5.99 per six pack at Whole Foods and over $8 at Acme. The entire beer section at Acme is poorly implemented and the pricing is insulting. Whole Foods and Wegmans rock for beer pricing. Acme sucks. Cooked, ready to eat chickens are $4.99 at Wegmans and $9.98 at Acme. Trader Joes offers bread and eggs at $2.49 and $1.99 everyday, Acme is much higher. The Acme in Strafford with die slowly as the Kmart has. The employees are not helpful, the self-check-out is gone, the pricing sucks - actually, the store sucks. read more

I can't shop here anymore. I've tried justifying their higher prices with the convenience of their location. I will drive farther away to go somewhere else. Whole Foods across the street has better prices and FAR better quality. Yesterday I went in to pick up a watermelon for a cookout that I was going to. The bin the watermelons were in was a mess. There was a rotten watermelon attracting flies and all of the watermelons were past their prime. A soft shelled watermelon has to be brimming with rot. Can't believe Acme was seriously trying to sell bad watermelon for $6. I promptly left the store, went across the street to Whole Foods, picked up a perfect watermelon for $3.99. Sadly, this is not the first time I've seen rotten produce in the store. I picked up a container of moldy blueberries recently. They need to pay better attention to turning their stock over more frequently. read more

This acme is the worst of them. Staff is rude. Store isn't kept up. Most Acmes are unimpressive, this one is worse than that. If you need an item at Acme, drive to the one in Paoli. Much better store and the experience won't ruin your day. read more

I had forgotten my wallet in acme today didn't know till a few hours later panicked, called acme they said they had it, Denny and Denise in particular were so sweet they kept it safe and the most adorable gesture was when Denise offered to hand it to me in a bag so my 3 year old wouldn't tell her dad about my carelessness wonderful people! I refer to this store as the crap-me. They are always out of what I need, frequently sell expired products, and I swear they bus in their employees from rudeville. When I lived in St. David's, I would drive PAST this store and PAST my house to go to the Genuardi's. read more

They seem to be improving, the deli sandwiches are yummy and affordable. More checkers are on duty, there used to be only 1 and one on 15 items or less. The meat department has expired meats. Everyone is making an effort and I hope they can turn it around. Devon is such an upscale area with Whole Foods, Farmers Market and other choices.(Wegmans) This store could really be something. The staff are friendly and have been there a long time. The pharmacy is great. But the store is drab and the produce is old looking unless you purchase the featured item. I'm afraid to do fish. I only go there when I need staples and usually find some good items, but it is not my go to store. read more

Checking ID is fine scanning your ID is completely wrong. The Acme store off of City Avenue had someone by the name of AMIE working as my brother was attempting to purchase 2 bottles of beer. he didn't have his ID so he asked me to purchase it with my ID. AMIE initially refused to allow me to use my ID to purchase two bottles of beer for my brother, both of us in our late 50s. AMIE said that it was store policy that I could not purchase it for my brother and refused to take my ID. I clearly stated to her okay I'm purchasing it for myself. so what's frustration teeth takes my ID card and starts to scan it she said that my card will not stand properly I refuse to sell the bear. why are we standing the back of ID cards when all the information is clearly printed and valid on the front. This is so wrong on so many levels and the attitude and the response of AMIE was uncalled for. Liz the store manager failed to resolve the matter. So my brother and I was forced to go to another store which welcomes are ID and sold us the beer thank you Shop Rite. read more

I don't really shop the store, I just work in the area. I go there to buy a specific product and they have raised the price one dollar in a week after it has been a dollar cheaper for the past three weeks, claiming i am saving money. Also they are in the process of removing the self check out lanes and replacing them with express lanes. I have a finite time for lunch,and don't want to stand in line at the mercy of the register attendent who doesn't care much about anything. I'm not planning on returning. read more

Was happy that a local supermarket was now selling beer but this place is just not ready. With beer sales, they removed self checkout and open checkout lanes are non-existent. Moreover, the beer selection is stagnant and boring. Prices are just okay. Worst part is checking out. They card everyone and scan your ID which is annoying when you're clearly middle-aged. This isn't required at Whole Foods. Worst of all, the sour-faced guy who is always working the beer section is curt, not at all helpful, dismissive, and has a horrible attitude. Don't shop this store. They start closing the fresh areas down 30-40 minutes before the store closes, the people who work there are foul-mouthed, and literally dirty, and could care less about helping you.
