The positive...when my last fridge died, I went to Acme and they got me next day delivery. The negative...it was kind of pricy for a no-frills fridge and the screws for attaching the handles didn't come with the fridge. Also, it had a faulty defrost timer right from the start. In the 2 1/2 months I've owned the fridge, it hasn't stopped running once. Then, when frost build up caused the refrigerator to stop cooling properly, I called because they advertised that they service their appliances but they don't have anyone who works on refrigerators and didn't know what the issue might be. read more

We live in Warren, PA. and ACME delivered (on time!), set up, and hauled our old one away for a small fee. Owner was sarcastic and rude when asked how long for oven delivery. Was told free delivery initially and was charged. Took almost 6 months for oven to be delivered. When I made follow up calls, owner was again rude and obnoxious. Reminded managent to please include a plug, including 3 days prior to delivery. Oven was delivered by owner but we had to help remove from truck and place on porch. Stove didn't have a plug. I called the manager, he said he'd forgot it and became very nasty. "What to you expect me to do, drive the damn 4 dollar plug back to Olean?" I'm not sure what ever happened to customer service or just being polite. read more

Checked out a refrigerator at Home Depot. It was on sale but they wouldn't deliver it to my location. I called ACME APPLIANCES in Jamestown, NY and not only would they match HD's price but they would deliver it free at a specific time and date. The driver called to say he was on the way. When he got close he called again. Two young fellows delivered and set it up in record time. They were fast, efficient, and polite. Bottom line: Before you buy from the big box stores check with Bill at ACME and get the same item at the same price and efficiently delivered and ACME IS A LOCAL BUSINESS. read more

Our fridge started making strange noises then stopped cooling while the freezer went belly-up at the same time. I planned a run to the Lakewood big box store but a friend recommended Acme for their price match, free delivery and setup and removal of the old unit. I went to the store and the unit I wanted was 40% off with the delivery (et al) included. I bought the unit at 10:30 am and it was in our kitchen before 2:00 pm on Memorial Day weekend! The delivery crew worked quickly and were gone, with the old fridge in 20 minutes. I am happy to recommend Acme for all the reasons above. Supporting a local business couldn't be easier! read more
