I called the number for Avis every five minutes for three hours and no picked up. I was transferred to the main reservation number and asked if my rental had been closed out. The agent said she could find no record of my reservation. I decided to call Enterprise because the MFE desks are next to each other to see if indeed someone was at the desk. The very courteous rental walked over to Avis for me and confirmed there was an Avis agent there. I immediately hung up and called again for the next hour every few minutes and they still didn't pick up the phone. This is unacceptable! I am a member of their rewards program as well. But will NEVER rent from AVIS again. Pick up the phone! It's one of your responsibilities especially if you aren't busy as the Enterprise agent confirmed. Be very wary of renting from this location.

I presented the documentation they required and I was done in just a few minutes. The car I was assigned was a new Toyota Prius Hybrid that gets over 51 gallons a mile. Considering the price of gasoline these days that was a plus. I did not pay for the navigation software, but the car allows you to connect your smartphone and use either Google Maps or Waze which appears on the screen of the car. My only complaint is that the screen was too bright at night and a distraction while using the phone app navigation and I could not figure out how to dim it. There probably is a way; I just couldn't find it. Apart from that very minor detail everything was superb. Though I have to say, driving across the State of Texas and back in a hybrid with California plates, I'm pretty sure I got the "stink eye" from a few locals... (ha ha) I used the car for 5 days and around 1300 miles, and enjoyed the way it worked. It was my first time to drive a hybrid. Returning the car was also easy and smooth. Based on my experience, I recommend Avis.

DO NOT RENT WITH THEM: They consistently overcharge & engage in fraud! I had a pay later…read morereservation which I cancelled when I made a pay-now reservation about 2 weeks before my arrival. They double charged me when I picked up the car, charging me for the full pay-later reservation. When I provided the credit card statement showing the pay-now charge, the pay-now reservation confirmation, and the pay-later reservation cancellation, they claimed they had no record of the reservation (despite me providing it) and charged me for the difference, saying the difference was just "taxes and fees." Even with "no record" of the pay later reservation, they knew exactly what the difference was. They also overcharged me on a rental the week prior and tried to on the week after, but I caught it before it was too late. Do not rent with Hertz, Thrifty, or Dollar at MFE (but probably everywhere). They clearly engage in fraud and just hope they're not caught by the customer.

Routinely overbooks and leaves you with no cats. Reservations don't mean anything to them. This is…read morethe 3rd time I walked away with no car.

I had reserved a car for a certain date and for a certain amount of days. When I reserved it online…read morethrough Hotwire it gave a price to pay at pick-up and this isn't including the deposit. So when I get there they had up graded me to a bigger vehicle cuz they didn't have the one i had reserved so i was Ok and they gave it to me for the same price. After signing and declining the insurance my total was 3times higher the rental was supposed to be $228.00 + $200.00 ( deposit ) and my card was charged a total of $620.00 I didn't find out about this until I got an email for my banking statement. They refunded the $200.00 deposit back into my account but I don't know where this extra $192.00 came from I tried calling Thrifty but every time I call the billing department is closed. I GUESS I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN. Oh and REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE WHEN YOU CALL THEM.
