The classes are circuit style with a mix of cardio and strength training. The trainer, Jana, is very knowledgable about pre and post natal fitness and makes sure you get a good workout in a safe way. The studio is up a flight of stairs. It's a nice clean space with everything needed to keep babies occupied while you exercise. You can pay for drop in classes or take a package of classes which is less expensive. There are also regular fitness classes without babies but I haven't tried them. If you want a great class in a supportive environment with other moms, this place is definitely recommended!

Maybe it's the idea of turning this thing that people associate with putting the female body on display for men around, and looking at how incredibly physically challenging and artistic it is, to the point where it becomes a popular competitive sport. Maybe it's that I can be wildly klutzy and awkward and learning a sexy swing is nice, and when I fail at it, is hilarious. Anyway, I'd always wanted to try it. So I went! The studio is clean and bright and overlooks Jean Talon market, and it's covered in these funny and welcoming posters that make you feel like it's totally ok to be a complete awkward beginner at pole dancing and to try it anyway. The owner has a great welcoming energy, she's funny and upbeat and intent on making a non-competitive fun space. The studio is tiny and classes book in advance, so take advantage of the online reservation system. I took a class for beginners and most of the class was not beginners and that was intimidating, but I loved it anyway. We did a whole simple routine by the end of the hour and I was bad at it but it was deeply satisfying anyway. Can't wait to go back.

I've sampled five or six prenatal yoga classes at different studios through my pregnancy and Clearlight wins, hands down. She has this combination of wisdom and calmness that touches even the most anxious mom-to-be. Her class is as much about preparing you for birth and motherhood, as it is about surviving pregnancy. By contrast most prenatal yoga is merely, normal yoga with modifications for poses you can't do when pregnant. Added bonus, Clearlight pays far more attention than most yoga instructors, to where you are in your pregnancy and any particular issues you may be having, and helps you modify your yoga practice accordingly. Some of the other yoga classes? do not care if you're 20 weeks or 36, if baby's breech or cephalic, if your sacro-iliac is blowing up on you or your tailbone aches, etc. We also took Clearlight's half-day couples workshop, which was a great way to get my other half on the same page as me, about how I need him to support me and what his role is during the birth. Afterward we were inspired to work together on some meditative practices that really brought us closer and more in tune with each other and the massive undertaking of parenthood that lies ahead. I seriously credit Clearlight for all of this. I have spent a ton of money on baby and pregnancy related stuff over the past few months, and these classes are the one thing that I would spend on again in a heartbeat.

So far I am…read morevery happy with the class -- small size, plenty of attention from the instructor, well-planned, the right level of challenge without being impossible. The instructor is familiar with each of our physical limitations and offers personalized adaptations when giving instructions. The studio is large and clean, full of all sorts of Pilates toys, including an ancient Reformer from the 70s (!!) There is a washroom, a change room, and a bowl of chocolate in the reception area. Je crois que les cours sont offerts uniquement en français. I will definitely be back for another session after this one finishes. It's such a treat to have an excellent Pilates studio right in my neighbourhood in Ahuntsic. The only drawback is that the studio is right across the street from an excellent bakery, tempting me to undo all my good work each week.
