We don't have stores like this in my state! So my kid was blown away when we walked through the door! And it turned into a fun stop for both of us! Erik what was the first to great us at the door. Absolutely amazing customer service! He was fun and patient with all our wide-eyed 120 questions! He showed us fireworks that would be great for daytime. I shoot off that were kid friendly. He also showed us that there were QR codes on some of the fireworks signs that took us to YouTube showing us how they look and work. The store also had a bunch of TVs mounted showing live videos of their employees shooting off the fireworks so you can see how they worked. SO MANY COOL FIREWORKS OF ALL TYPES! They also had a buy one get one for $.99. No matter the cost. (Pay full price for the highest, next one $.99!!) They had 3 fun "manager special packs" with different price ranges. Nice for the indecisive people like me...or if you are on a time crunch and need to get in and out. I found out that most of the staff are teachers on summer break from the local school. And that cool guy Erik is a high school band director the rest of the year. Curious car that I am, I love asking questions and found out they are local owned shop that is only open from Memorial Day thru July 16th. And had 2 shops in the area (3 miles apart) As I was heading to checkout, I noticed they had a sign up to win almost a $3000 huge human tall collection of fireworks (hey, if I win, I'm more than happy to drive back and find some new friends in WI to help me light them off!) This will absolutely be a must stop place every time we happen to drive thru this time of year! I wish I could give them 10 stars!! They staff were all friend on and amazing!!

Maybe if they decreased prices I would give a better review, but over $100 for a lower end 500 gram cake is absolute insanity. Would not recommend, go to fireworks forever or wholesale for better value.

No, you can't really light off fireworks in their parking lot. We asked.

I went on line to find the closest fireworks store to Rochester, MN but most were closed by the time I was done working. Maximum Load Fireworks in Arcadia Wisconsin was opened till 9pm. Even though they were over an hour from Rochester I went and figured I'd just follow the river going back home and treat it as a mini vacation because it is such a beautiful drive. Don't be surprised that it's not easy to find because my GPS didn't bring me to the right spot and the store is in a very remote area. After calling the owner they directed me to the store and I found it easily then. When I pulled up, to my surprise it was a real fun looking place and there was a bunch of cute fun teens out front shooting off fireworks - I thought what fun place. When I walked in there was a lot of friendly and knowlegdeable teens to help you decide what to get. Right away a baby goat came trotting up and my heart just melted. They let me pet and hold the goat, it was only a couple of days old. It was sooo cute! They not only had fireworks but they had a petting zoo and fairy garden too, outside. After I purchased my fireworks thanks to the very helpful staff a very cute teen girl gave me a tour of the zoo and fairy garden. I had so much fun. Even though I live 3 hours away from Maximum Load Fireworks I think I will make this a yearly mini vacation and bring my family with next time. Thanks so much you guys.

Had a group of friends who all wanted to go this season to Miracle at Big Rock…read more Frankly though, I wouldn't refer to it as a miracle... $22/per person entry fee definitely felt steep for what it was... a small RV campsite dressed up in holiday lights with the occasional firepit burning low-grade wood and hot beverage cups. (I watched as countless guests discarded their cups on the ground rather than in appropriate trash bins... despite there being plenty of trashbins around for use... if they'd been willing to carry their empty cups just a few more feet... like seriously, are you teaching your children to litter? Then I watched as employees took those cups, plastic covers and all, and tossed them into the fire... Idk about you, but breathing burning plastic into my lungs doesn't sound too wonderful to me. Maybe we could teach our employees proper disposal of materials too?) The campgrounds were loosely divided up into themed zones, such as Frozen and Whoville and Ice Age (did they have the rights to use these characters? I'm guessing not from the low-budget costumed characters they had roving about... To be clear, I'm not against copyright infringement of large corporations that have too much money already, but frankly, I'd like to have seen more creativity in creation of zones that didn't rely on the crutch of media that's overpopularized... doesn't risk a lawsuit that way, and is way more unique and special). One of the themed zones was a military zone that felt... cultish and made me distinctly uncomfortable. Using the holidays to celebrate war and death with lit up displays of tanks and guns is a big no-thanks, imo. We've got holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day to celebrate these things... it doesn't need to be dragged into winter festivities too. The string light covered fire truck was cool though. I did like that they had a free-for-all style sledding area (nothing too steep) that you could enjoy without paying extra. It was a little too chaotic with tiny bodies for me to partake in though. I also appreciated the port-a-johns available around the site. There's a food court area with trucks serving stuff like sausage, BBQ, pizza, mini donuts, kettle korn, and shaved ice. In addition to the several hot beverage stands across the park serving up hot cider, hot cocoa, and various hot alcoholic beverages. Prices were actually what I would consider reasonable, taking into account their location (where the rules are no outside food or beverages). There's a big heated "barn" where you can browse vendors; none of them caught my fancy, but it's stuff like candles, ornaments, apparel, bread, and randomly, all-terrain wheelchairs. There are toilets available in the barn too, which had an insane line because everyone was being really prissy about doing their business not out in the 9° weather with the outhouses, LOL. Reasonable number of photo-op worthy light displays, so I got a few pictures as we ambled around. It was all okay, just not really up to the hype they gave it, y'know?

People are not US based Somalians or somewhere from that side of the country Because I could not hear them talk properly. They were dealing with illegal drugs and the park was so dirty and nasty that you could see used condoms all over the place. If you're going with the family I strongly recommend you avoid this side of the park because it's not very safe. We feel really insecure and left that place although the park is very pretty we could have stayed longer, but we didn't feel safe with the amount of people coming in there with the law-enforcement can make rounds in this area. Here's a weird fact. When I lived in Rochester, I never dropped by Silver Lake Park. I always drove…read morearound it to get to and from my home to the downtown area and beyond. The only explanation that I can muster is that I had a park within walking distance from my home. I visited that park often that I didn't think of visiting others. After having a decent lunch on Saturday afternoon, I decided to drop by the park to finally check it out. There are a number of parking spots. I backed my car into an available spot and walked around. Rochester is unique in that it's the only city in Minnesota that has manmade lakes. I believe that the number of lakes in Rochester is in the double digits these days, but the lakes were designed for cooling. Specifically, Silver Lake cools the Rochester Public Utilities power plant. The park surrounds Silver Lake. You can get quite the workout walking around it. I walked maybe a quarter of it. I had spotted a swing that had enough space to comfortably seat two adults. There were indeed two people on it, so I decided to walk somewhere else. When I noticed that they were walking towards me, I headed over to the swing. I like a good swing. This one faces the lake and it was enjoyable taking in downtown Rochester and the view while swinging on it. There are geese in the area. They are known as Canadian honkers. They have longer necks than your traditional Canada goose, which I didn't know about until I learned that Canadian Honker, the restaurant in town, was named after it. Cool! If you do see these birds, you can feed them. There isn't a bylaw that says that you'll get fined for feeding them. During the Fourth of July, fireworks happen in this area. It's definitely a smaller version of the Victoria Day fireworks at Ashbridges Bay in the Beaches in Toronto, but it's pretty decent. I never watched it from the park, but admired the display from afar. This park has a memorial dedicated to fallen firefighters. I also like that each tree has a sign that identifies what you are looking at. It's a cool place to walk around, and learn and discover on your own. It was great getting to know this park instead of driving around its perimeter! I look forward to returning and checking out the rest of it. (140)
