Perhaps something for everyone here. It's largely clothing, but has household items, some small Appliances and sporting goods. I'm got a glass vase for a specific decorating purpose. Easy to donate goods in the front. Furniture and construction materials go to their location on Western avenue on the other side of town. I thought the prices very reasonable. This is one of our favorite thrift stores and it's one of the better ones in the upper Midwest. For one, it's big and the variety and quality of items are pretty good. Furniture and electronics take up a sizeable part of the store, the whole right side of the shop, in fact. Another plus is the number of dish sets that they have for sale, whether sets of china or stoneware, you'll have well over a dozen sets to choose from at any given time. Books? Yup! Sporting goods? Uh-yuh! Clothing? Lots! Renaissance Fair mugs? Maybe! Glassware? Tons! There are three or four fitting rooms and people have been nice to us. Prices are variable, but they're usually good for the quality. You might get better prices elsewhere, but the items might not be as good. Plus, those rows of bright fluorescent lights are things of hypnotic and ordered beauty! We go out of our way to shop here, and we'll return. read more

Hope Gospel has a wide variety of items and a large store, but I have to agree with the other reviewers that their prices are abnormally high for a thrift store. I have perused the furniture section and seen price tags as high as $500. Now, you're getting donations free from the community, and I understand the point is to turn a profit, but that's kind of ridiculous, at least in my book. Clothing is fairly expensive as well, although I will say that if you're a nurse or need scrub tops/bottoms, they have a great selection here and you'll pay substantially less than buying them new, and they're almost always in great condition. They run promotions where on different days, different colored tags are cheaper, but even so, they're high priced, all things considered. Good for books though, they usually have good deals on those. read more

Very sad to say I may never go back. I have been a long time supporter, donor, and shopper. I walked in today to see several unmasked shoppers and EMPLOYEES. I thought caring for your neighbors meant keeping them safe? I thought respecting the laws of our community was something this organization would support. The blatant disregard and disrespect and prideful behavior on display was so disappointing. Do better. read more

I went here with my brother to pick up some new clothes for him and this was the first time I'd actually stepped foot in the place--it is HUGE. Things I like about Hope Gospel compared to a Goodwill or Savers 1.)Better Prices, I think the highest price on a pair of work pants was 7.99. Not bad. 2.)I didn't notice price gouging just because something was from the Gap 14 years ago. 3.)Huge selection of furniture: Instead of having "onesie twosie" random pieces you can actually get sets of furniture from here--they got it all covered! 4.)They have 2 colors going at the same time for clothing: 1 color @ 25% and 1 @ 50% off. A lot of the other discount stores around the twin cities have discontinued this practice so its nice to see it alive and kicking here. My one complaint was about the cashier, she did not mutter a single word to me or my brother. It makes for a rather awkward ending, especially when he purchased $80 worth of clothing. read more

The finest, highest quality furniture I have ever seen at a thrift store. I just happen to be in town so I didn't buy any but it was amazing. I kind of want to go back and rent a truck to bring it all back. Amazing quality and great prices. If I was a college kid or anyone for that matter in the EC area I would be here before I dropped a bundle on new stuff from Slumberland. read more

Not only are they over priced just like goodwill on donated items. But when you call for an oversized item pick up, you wait a week. Then you have a driver that talks down to you and laughs in your face. If he does not like the item they do not take it. He needs to learn to be a nicer person and not talk down to people. Hello this is a donation and without donations you will no longer have a job or a store to sell items. I will never help them again or their homeless shelter. read more

Clean, pretty well-organized, and they've got a big store, leading to a big selection. Because it's all donated, you'll find new things every time. I've bought a couple of pairs of clothing from this store, and for cheap. If you look hard, you'd be surprised at what you can find in your size that looks good. read more

I've been to a lot of thrift stores in my lifetime, and I mean a lot! This is the absolute nicest thrift store in the Midwest. They had a large variety of everything: housewares, home decor, books, clothes, shoes, etc; all at good prices. The merchandise was nicely displayed and the staff very friendly. Stopped here today to look for dishes and also to see what they might have for vintage Halloween items. I eventually went to the cashier and said that I saw where the fall and Thanksgiving stuff was, but maybe I had missed the Halloween stuff (most other thrifts tend to have it grouped in a single aisle so it's easy to find). The cashier said that they didn't sell anything Halloween. I asked why and all she could say was that it was store policy. I wanted some additional information, so I asked to talk to the manager. The head manager apparently couldn't be bothered to come up to the front, so they sent an underling manager. "Store policy" was also all he could offer as a response. I asked, "So if someone donated a package of napkins that had Jack-o'-Lanterns on them, this store wouldn't sell them?" "That's right", he answered. I asked what happened to such donated items and was told they were sent to the landfill. I quizzed further. Why does the store have this policy? Neither the cashier nor the underling manager could (or would) say anything other than it was store policy. All they knew was that there was some policy, but supposedly didn't know exactly what it said or why the store had the policy. So either they are very uniformed or very unforthcoming about the reason. Now, the instant I heard "store policy", I knew the reason, but that fact that no one at this business was willing to actually articulate it is why they are getting a one star rating from me. If a store is going to set standards for a particular reason, they should be willing to openly share that reason, not hide behind "store policy". read more
