Just wrote up a review on here for Dr. Kuzel himself and realized I should do one for the actual clinic as well. I've had an issue with my achilles for some time now and Dr. Kuzel and his staff have been amazing in my recovery. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating that it's actually a pleasure to come in for follow up appointments. He's done a wonderful job in hiring people who have the perfect mix of professionalism, bedside manner and people skills. I had an emergency that happened on a day when they were in surgery most of the day. Rather then send me away or reschedule me, they stayed until almost 7pm to take care of me. I can't tell you how far that goes with me. You just don't see that anymore. And to top it off, they were all pleasant and genuinely concerned with my issue. Hopefully I'll never have to go back once my issue is resolved but if I or anyone I know needs their services, theyll be the ones I turn to. read more

I'm actually amazed at the fact that I'm the first "Yelper" to offer a review of Dr. Kuzel's services, but--as the five stars attest--more than happy to testify as to the brilliance of his practice. The short end of the backstory: I'm thirty-five years old and have suffered from various knee and ankle ailments for the better part of my adult years. I was advised to take up a cardio regimen to battle migraines last year by my GP, and decided that I'd make a go at doing some fun-running as a means to keep my motivation up: things started off well, but--as always--hit the wall within a year and a handful of 5K events, as my Achilles began to burn with pain every time I took a step. No amount of rest or downtime seemed to do anything to improve the injury, so I opted to hop-step down the street to Dr. Kuzel's practice, as it's within the neighborhood. Now, the middle bit: I've had diagnoses on my feet before, and they usually come down to a poorly-healed broken bone from my teenage years and genetically lame ankles. I've worn orthotics since 2002, and--even with that--have just managed to basically "break even" in terms of my overall movement and footprint. I told Dr. Kuzel all of this during our first meeting, and he sat there as rapt as if I were recounting my adventures in the China Sea, or something: not a fakey "nod and hmm"-type response, but real, serious listening. Shortly thereafter, the man went right to work. He ran a sonogram (!) of each foot, broke down the inflammation that he was seeing, and noted--just by touch and sight--that my feet bend way too far inward whenever I take a step. This was all new information to me, as previous podiatrists had focused on the old damage and ankle area, rather than the movement of the foot itself: with that in mind, Dr. Kuzel suggested that I get a new pair of orthotics that would encourage a "lockstep" motion, and even offered to have new casts made of my old, busted-up pair for more casual purposes (and for free, I might add). Now, a month and a half later, I'm pulling between fifteen and seventeen miles a week, and doing so without ANY pain. I'd dust off the chestnut about reclaiming my teenage stride, but facts maintain that I probably never ran THAT far (At least intentionally) as a kid, and certainly not in any time in the last fifteen years. I've got three 5Ks lined up for August and feel like I might actually push for a 10K or two before the weather drops in October. I was just hoping to regain a basic half-speed jog with Dr. Kuzel's help, but he's managed to basically put a new set of tires on me. Plan on spending $400 for a wart appointment. When I called to question the 3 charges I was told the procedure "99202 was the "office fee", the $195 for scraping of the dead skin so that I could apply my own topical wart ointment (they did give my daughter 2 bandages at first visit) and $72 was for an ultrasound for the wart. Dr. K was nice enough and we really liked his assistant Sarah but the front office staff was not friendly at all. My other issue was that they scheduled a follow up appointment on a day Dr. K was at his Seattle Office. I'm sure I didn't have it wrong as my daughter and I both wrote it down when we were standing at the desk. When we arrived for the $200 follow up and the doors were locked we called. There as no apology as we rescheduled. Needless to say we won't be returning. read more

I was searching around online and found Dr Kuzel and his wonderful team. They were very welcoming the minute I walked thru the front door. I knew I had found the right place as soon as I walked in. Dr Kuzel came in met with me and looking at the area of my feet he knew exactly what the issues were and educated me the issues. I was given different options I can try before considering surgery. I left the appoinment feeling very happy and at ease. Very excited I was doing something about the pain and try the foot serts he had told me to go and purchase. I went back for my second appointment the following Friday and let him know that they were still bothering me and I decided that I needed to get the surgery done on both feet. Dr Kuzel wanted to make sure I thought it through about getting both done and the same time because they rarely do it and it will be a rough recovery. I told him I understand, but with my busy work schedule I have to set something up really fast before Thanksgiving . Dr Kuzel scheduled me for the surgeries on 02Nov two weeks from that day. I was very happy that he was able to accomodate my busy work schedule. The surgeries had taken place at their Edmonds office. I walked in nervous of course and again was met by his wonderful and friendly staff. The anesthesiologis went over the procedures that were going to take place for the next few hours and told me that he would be there with me the whole procedure. The local anesthetic they used was was pretty interesting. I have had quite a few surgeries and have never been aware of the procedures that is taking place. A few hours go by and I am ready to be on my way. As soon as that last stitch was done they raised the chair had me move around a bit to get the blood flowing and was out the door. I was actually able to work once I got home, taking phone calls, sending/answering my email, eat. You never would have guessed that I just got out of a three hour surgery (minus the walking). It was definitiely a long and challenging recovery and I am still recovering. I have had follow up appointments every week since the surgery 02Nov. Dr Kuzel and his staff are always making sure I am doing ok and calling me reminding me of my appointments. I ran out of pain pills one night before one of my follow up appointments and I told the nurse that I would be ok. The nurses called me back at home and let me know that they had called in a prescription to get me thru the night until I got there the following day. WOW! I just moved here and was nervous about this whole experience without my family. I have soo much respect for Dr Mark Kuzel and his amazing staff. They made me feel like family and welcomed me into their home. One of the nurses was so kind and told me she and her family would love to have me over for Thanksgiving dinner if I had no where to go. You just don't run into that kind of love anymore. That made me feel so happy and thankful that I had found this place. THANK YOU DR KUZEL AND STAFF!!! I have had to have two procedures at Active Foot & Ankle. I have had a similar procedure at another office and it was very painful. At Active Foot & Ankle Dr. Kuzel was not in a rush and the experience was pain free. The staff are very caring towards the patients. read more

Very old-school type place. I have to say I feel borderline-scammed here. Went in for orthopedics (ie. make mold of your foot and give you inserts). On my initial apt. the dr. said, your big toe looks like it might have some early stage of (xyz) - so he stuck an ultrasound probe on it - then said, nope. Then checked the other side just for the hell of it too - nope. ok, no biggie I thought. Except later when I saw they billed my insurance $420 for this 30second ultrasound of my toes ($210 per toe). Next I got the molds done and picked them up a month later, then I was supposed to come back in 3 weeks to report how they felt, so I did. At my apt, the dr. said, I really should have had you come back at 5 weeks because 3weeks isn't enough time. $70 for that non-office visit. Ok, I said, and came back 2 weeks later. Inserts still felt good at the 5 week mark. So, he wanted to adjust them to see if we could make them "better" then just good. Now they don't feel as good as they did before - so I am supposed to go back AGAIN to put them back to where they were originally (another $70). It wasn't until I requested a detailed bill from the office (which is extremely confusing to try to make sense of) that I realized I was racking up all these charges for what could/should have been two simple visits. read more

I absolutely love Dr Kuzel and his staff. I have been going there almost 2 years. Dr Kuzel and his staff are down to earth and very friendly. They really make you feel comfortable and almost like family. Dr Kuzel himself is a great Podiatrist and so easy to talk to. I actually look forward to my appointments! read more

I have mixed feelings about this place but decided to go with the overall experince for the rating. We went for my sons twisted ankle. Dr. K was nice and advised what should be done, no criticism there. But the lady who does the billing screwed up and wouldn't admit it. The problem went back and forth for several months. I had to re-explain to both thier office and my insurance several times. After several conversations with the accountant/ billings lady, she finally admitted she mis-billed us and wanted to inconvience me to make the correction. After all this, she never apologized once and was extremely rude on the phone. I understand human errors but not willing to take responsibility for those actions is wrong and unprofessional. The fact is, there are other places to go, even if the doctor is nice the overall service was stressful. Since we didn't go back, it's difficult to say how great Dr. K is but I'd like to give him the benefit and go by first impression. read more
