Saw another doctor at another clinic that did end up sending me to PT. PT gave me back my mobility and decreased pain. Doctor # 2: Given outdated and unnecessary paperwork to complete (according to my insurance and the UW customer service)- haven't these people bothered to check in the last 4 years what papers are in patient care packets? Called in for a serious reaction after surgery- could be blood clots they said. Then said would set up appointment for procedure to check on possible clots (their words, "possible blood clots")....still waiting....sent email asking about appointment...still waiting on response. Guess I'll be going to the ER to get this checked on then? Why put the idea of blood clots in my mind and then drop the follow-up to get me seen for this life threatening condition? Customer representatives when you call into the clinic are rude, curt and useless. When I have been in the waiting room, have heard them taking about patients, mocking them and making fun. Shame on you making fun of sick people in pain.

I called on Lake Washington Foot and Ankle on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and was told each day they couldn't find the referral but would call me back later that day. (They did not call back). Finally, on Thursday I did got a call from their office that they had found the referral but were NOT taking any new patients. It sure would have been nice if I had been told when I called that first day on Monday that they had told me that they were NOT taken new patients as that would have caused me a lot less pain and suffering because of the now delayed treatment!

I have permanent, complex structural deformities of the foot and ankle, caused by neurological disorders and previous trauma. I went to Everett Bone & Joint where I saw the Foot & Ankle Surgeon declined working on my foot, citing it was too complicated and did not think the outcome would be favorable. He wished me well and that was the end. My family suggested going to the UW and that was how I was introduced to Dr Prakash . He admitted me and created a treatment plan that had some of the most time-intensive and technically challenging work ahead. My foot was infected to the bone and was on IV treatment at the hospital. I hit the lottery with Dr Prakash who had assessed me and set a surgery/treatment in motion. Many of my CMT or Charcot Marie Tooth (what a name!) deformities are a result from a combination of muscular, anatomical and neurological dysfunction and just wreak havoc on your neuro-muscular foot structure . I had surgery November 2023 and as of today (March 2034) and I have finally healed with a "normal looking foot" something I had not experienced looking foot in over 5 years. She had reasons why, but it took quite a few months before she finally took an x-ray that showed a bone hanging low causing the pain. So then she had to go back in and screw the bone up where it belonged. She wasn't happy about it I felt like it was my fault. She turned defensive. A few years later I started having pain on top of my foot. Arthritis had gotten so bad I needed to think about fusing my foot. My feet were hurting so bad from the arthritis I wore sandals with a lot of very spongy support. They were sandals that had a lot of straps and they made it easier to walk. I went back to Dr O'Rourke to see her and she was furious at me for wearing the sandals. That was all she could focus on. So I decided not to see her anymore. Then she retired. And also sent me a copy of a letter she wrote to put in my file. It was very vindictive,, said I don't heal well, I am a bad patient and I wore sandals. She mentioned the straps but still it was very bad. . I was shocked that she took the time to write such a letter. Very unprofessional. But I thought well, she is retiring and that is a good thing. I was surprised how double sided she was. I hope she has a happy retirement- it was time.

His surgical skills are outstanding and without question was the most recommended. I had no difficulty at all post op. My surgery was done at Proliance Surgical Center and their staff are the best (not surprised) and Dr. Christal's support staff at the Proliance Orthopedic Center in Edmonds were responsive, friendly and very efficient (again, not surprised). Another very important issue is the thoroughness with which Dr. Christal prepares his patients for surgery. He builds into the process the conscientious attention to detail and in particular his instructions regarding limiting the chance of infection by starting "decolonization" five days before surgery and setting PT goals early were appreciated. His pain management is stellar and I recovered with lightening speed. [My physical therapy was handled by Evergreen Home Health, so see also their yelp review.] I would recommend Dr. Christal to anyone seeking knee surgery. A sudden mobility issue happened back on 2/17/26. Working with my primary care facility and…read morephysician at Pacific Medical Center - Shoreline, I was referred to, had Xrays completed and evaluated at Swedish Edmonds Urgent Care that evening. The PA-C seen referred me to Edmonds Orthopedic Center (affiliated with Proliance Surgeons), located also at the Swedish Edmonds medical campus. My initial evaluation was with Michael Lee, MD on 2/23/26 where it was determined a MRI was needed to make a definitive diagnosis. This was completed at an affiliate site, North Puget Sound MRI in Mountlake Terrace on 3/6/26. My MRI results and next steps were addressed again with another appointment with Dr. Lee on 3/12/26. The MRI brought to light my current situation and potential future issues to be made aware of. I also received a cortisone steroid shot to help reduce discomfort and inflammation at this visit. My recovery is still ongoing, just thankful no physical therapy and/or surgical intervention are needed at this time. Yes, one has to deal with the wait (blame the insurance and medical care system in the US). Overall, I have been pleased with the professional care provided without the hassles of having to see similar organizations in downtown Seattle. It is much more accessible as a Shoreline resident to be seen at northend sites in Edmonds and Mountlake Terrace. My interactions via phone, online, and onsite have been favorable. Pro tips: Understand that time is needed to have referrals reviewed and approved by one's insurance coverage, especially if there were any policy changes. This does affect scheduling and copays. Exercise your patience, do your due diligence to follow up, ask questions and for clarity to advocate for the best outcome for your care. Give yourself extra time to locate parking, whether on the adjacent street, main parking lot, or parking garage whether you are dropped off or driving yourself. It does get congested and not fun with limited mobility and inclement weather. The common areas like lobby, elevators, and waiting areas are busy so be proactive to wear a mask and/or use hand sanitizer. Complete any online check-in requests prior to your actual onsite appointment. This will streamline your check-in process. Copays can be paid ahead or at the check-in counter. This is not acceptable in a Doctors office. Next, xray and no other thing, just leave an wait and see if ankle gets better. No mention of PT or if not better in xyz weeks, maybe an MRI or something. No just come back if you are still in pain. Not sure why, oh yes so I can be billed for that next referral to the MRI or something. I really hate that waste of time. I cannot just take more time to come in and here, yea we cannot help without more information so go here and then come back again. I will just be calling my primary and figuring it out. Just not pleased with this clinic unfortunately.

I was very impressed with the various diagnostic equiptment used to determine my condition of complaint. I have been under care of two other podiatrists and neither of the previous did any of the diagnostics or actually listened to me, as Dr. Berg did. He was the only one to actually look at my walking gate- which in my opinion is the foundation of foot health. All of his staff treated me in a friendly caring manner. And although you may not hear what you want to hear, you will receive expert experience and superior care. I would highly recommend this office and the care of Dr. Berg to anyone suffering foot issues. You will find no better care anywhere else.

The portal notes are empty and they won't answer messages there. Calling only gets you their "network team" who won't transfer you directly to the dr's office front desk. I tried THREE TIMES! I only wanted to discuss my previous care and get pricing for shockwave therapy (something we discussed). They said I had to schedule an appt. I shouldn't have to spend time, gas, and a co-pay to get simple questions answered. Finding care elsewhere now.
