Everyone from the front desk to the imaging area was so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. The nurses were thorough, professional, and caring. The radiology tech was one of the nicest people I've met in a minute! The doctor actually spoke to me like a real person. This was in stark contrast to the CareNow clinic I visited earlier in the day wherein the doc stared at his computer screen as he typed the whole time he was in the room with me. At Ally, the doc had a conversation and let me have a voice in my care plan. She actually seemed like she cared about what was going on with me even though we didn't really figure it out. She made she I was safe to go about life and try to figure it out with my pcp, which was all I needed. I had seen the Ally logo around but didn't know what it was. Now I know they are my emergency medicine ally! Hope I don't have to go back, but know I'll choose Ally over anywhere else if I do.

In my brief time as a patient of Roots Behavioral Health, I have received the worst treatment I…read morehave ever experienced from any establishment, medical or otherwise, in my entire life. For context, I'm currently taking two common psychiatric medications (bupropion aka Wellbutrin and duloxetine aka Cymbalta). Both of these drugs are highly physically addictive and cause horrendous withdrawals if you stop taking them. In fact, Cymbalta's withdrawals in particular are so infamous that they even have a name: Cymbalta syndrome. We're talking shakes, chills, sweats, dizziness, tics, palpitations, diarrhea, puking... definitely not a state that's conducive to being happy or productive or even functional. This practice dropped me like a hot potato, with no warning and no recourse, while I was dependent on these incredibly addictive drugs. And this was just the cherry on top of a long list of rude, dismissive, and sometimes outright disdainful behavior from these people. To start with, communication with this practice is nearly non-existent. If you are the type of psych patient who needs to be able to communicate with your clinician, tough luck. During the short time I was seeing one of their clinicians, the practice could only communicate with patients through an incredibly janky portal program called Klara. Klara requires three-factor authentication (not a typo) every single time you log in. Its minimalist user interface is just a plain white void with no settings or options, so it's not like I had the ability to make it any easier to use. Due to the jankiness of Klara I ended up missing appointments with these folks three separate times - twice because Klara has some kind of final step to finalize my appointment that I somehow did not see, and once because their scheduling system straight-up deleted my appointment. Three times I logged on for my appointment and nobody showed up. To their credit, Roots has since switched to an easier-to-use portal software called Athena, but this isn't without its problems, either. Way back in September they sent out messages saying that they would stop using Klara on October 1st, 2024, and that all patients would have to make Athena accounts before then. I tried several times to set up an account but Athena kept throwing up error messages. I have other doctors who use Athena and I don't have the same problem accessing my accounts with them. When I sent a screenshot of the error messages to the Roots folks, they had no solutions other than to try using my phone instead of my laptop to access the portal (not an option since I have motor skills issues that make it very hard for me to type on a phone). They also confirmed that use of the Athena portal was mandatory in order for me to remain a patient. Since it looked like this was not going to be possible, I sent them several messages requesting help in finding another med management practice whose communication options were more accessible. Big mistake. Unbeknownst to me, Roots has something in their fine print that says they will automatically dismiss anyone who makes noise about looking for another doctor. Something about "ensuring continuity of care". Seems like dropping people without a backup plan is the opposite of continuity of care, but what do I know? I'm "crazy", after all. I don't have enough information to speculate on how this could possibly be legal, but evidently it is. My requests for help finding another practice went unanswered for weeks. Instead, one (1) business day before my next scheduled appointment with Roots, I woke up to a text that said I had been discharged from the practice and that no further communications from me would be answered. They did reply to my frantic messages on Klara enough to explain about the fine print that I had violated, but stopped replying after that. And that was it. Cut loose while dependent on two highly addictive meds, and no way to get more. So now, at nearly 40 years old, I'm having to worry about crapping my pants in public due to the combination of GI symptoms from my untreated anxiety and GI symptoms from medication withdrawals. I have since found another practitioner, but NOT with any help from Roots. Avoid these people if you can. Utterly psychopathic behavior from people who purport to be in the mental health business. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Nurse Patty is amazing! She answers questions and is very patient and thoughtful. Dr. P is wonderful! He is down to earth and takes time to answer questions and make sure that you are comfortable with the treatment plan, but he doesn't take a long time like a lot of doctors that seem to love the sound of their own voices. They set up supply delivery that is on point and has everything that we need. If you are someone that wants wonderful, respectful care, but doesn't have the time or need to drone on about their problems, then this is the place for you.

She said it WAS delivered. 2nd nurse Patty, said 1st nurse gave wrong treatment instructions for 2 weeks. Dr did not seem concerned and said not to worry bout Rx HE initially said was needed asap. Said just watch the wound. Nurse Patty said it's not her problem that messages didn't get thru After she said messages were her responsibility. I hope to never have to go there again.

I filled out an online appointment request for AMBH right after that happened and I never heard back. So when I was within a week of my medication running out I sent a desperate email begging for an appointment (since every other provider I had contacted in my area on my insurance was not accepting new patients). I immediately heard back that they could fit me in, but then I got a separate email saying I needed to call my insurance company to coordinate benefits, activate my account, and also that I needed to fill out the new patient forms that day. I have a PPO and have had no issues using it with other specialists so it didn't make sense to me, but I called United Health. I spent an hour on the phone, talking to three different people, who told me it made no sense I had to call in because my insurance is active and they saw multiple 2021 claims on my account. I had meetings that afternoon and I finished working at 7p. I go to start start on the forms when I get an email from Sylvia saying my appointment was cancelled because I didn't fill out my paperwork by the end of the business day. She never told me that there was a time deadline for the forms, and she didn't even say due by end of business, she just said "today" in her email. Had I not spent an hour going back and forth with my insurance company for absolutely no reason I'd have had time to do the forms in the only gap I had in my schedule that afternoon and I would easily have gotten them done within the imaginary deadline she never gave me. The only other appointments available were the following week, past when my medication needed to be refilled, and she knew that based on our previous communication. Cancelling my appointment after business hours did nothing but leave a gap in Dr Kahn's schedule. If the forms were due by a certain time in the day then she should've told me that. Considering this is a mental health provider, the office staff should all know how important staying on medication is. There's no way I would attempt to reschedule at this office if this is the way the staff treats prospective patients, especially desperate ones.
