I've seen Ellen 6 times now and I am really impressed. She uses Japanese acupuncture rather than Chinese. They are shorter needles and connect with cords or wires. I have intermittent hip pain, neck and shoulder tension, and tension headaches. Treatments have been able to greatly reduce my pain and tension. She also sells Chinese herbal medicines formulated in California that are very pure and clean. They are subtle, but work together with the acupuncture. And she has given me exercises that help relax the muscles in my neck and shoulders. The atmosphere in the patient rooms is quiet and relaxing, Ellen is sweet, caring, and gentle, and she is excellent at finding the problems in your body's energy and treating it. I have been to other acupuncturists, but Acupuncture at Riverside is at the top of the list. read more

Ellen truly cares about her clients. She's been able to rid me of many pains and symptoms. I highly recommend her to anybody desperately seeking help for their pains and anxieties. She has helped me to enjoy my life again, and to know what it feels like to be calm and without pain. read more

A Real Angel Acupuncture At Riverside I was suffering from lower back and hip pain. It was difficult to walk in the morning, and at night, sleep was difficult and fitful. I continued to see a chiropractor but the pain was getting worse. There was serious talk of using surgery, or an epidural. I finally decided to try alternative medicine. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Acupuncturist Ellen Leonard was able to bring me back level by level. Blessed with the hands of a surgeon and the touch of an angel, she is well versed in the art of pain management. I hardly ever felt a needle, and I'm a sensitive guy. There was never any discomfort. Her skills include different needling techniques as well as the use of herbs for treatment, if needed. She is very empathetic and has a very good bedside manner. Costs are reasonable and are covered by most insurance plans. She also works with our vets with PTSD and their families at no charge. I highly recommended her. You must give them a call. read more

After earning a 4 year masters degree in acupuncture from New England School of Acupuncture, the oldest acupuncture school in the country, Ellen ran a clinic in Cambridge, MA for 3 years. But having earlier attended graduate school at Cal State, Hayward, her heart belonged to the West Coast. So she found her way to Grants Pass in 2004 and has been in private practice here ever since. Ellen Practices Japanese acupuncture which is based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) but has some key differences. The needles are hair-like filaments that are inserted very shallowly so patients don't feel the pain or headiness of DEQI experience from bigger Chinese needles which are inserted more deeply. This allows for a painless experience. Japanese style also use far fewer needles, can treat multiple problems at the same time, and is extremely effective for emotional issues such as stress, depression, anxiety, panic attacks, and PTSD.

Ellen Leonard has been in practice for over 15 years. She had her first clinic in Cambridge, MA, before moving to Grants Pass, OR, in 2004. She has been at her current location for over 10 years.

Meet the Business Owner: Ellen L.

Ellen grew up in a small village near Buffalo, NY (where it REALLY snows!). She received her undergraduate degree in 1978, a masters in education in 1988, and her masters in acupuncture from the New England School of Acupuncture in Boston, MA, in 2001. She ran a large clinic in Cambridge until 2004, when she was able to return to the west coast and continue with her work. She has a second degree black belt in karate, and now has 3 hens, 2 koi, and 1 stray cat. Every Friday morning for the last 9 years she has held a free, 2-hour clinic for veterans who suffer from PTSD.

He is very conservative and tries to do the best, checks the results, and then proceeds with further treatment if necessary. In fact, I used to drive to Medford thinking that dermatology office would be better. For years the dermatologist I went to said i did not have a skin cancer on my nose. i finally went to Dr. Young's office and, yes, I did have skin cancer on my nose. i'm glad I decided to stick with Dr. Young.
