After talking to the doctor you agree on a treatment plan and you get a nice half hour to chill out while the needles do their thing and the doc mixes up a batch of herbs for you. I was expecting a tea to brew but these were actually a powder. I came in with several issues the most pressing of which would take about 4 months to resolve. But in the meantime I also had an ear ache and soar throat which was treated through acupuncture as well. I felt better at the time then worse when I left also my ear was nicked a bit and had a bloody mark. Took a Claritin when I got home and felt better again. I might have been down for the count but am certain that the acupuncture helped prevent it. Although the goal is overall wellness this is a major commitment both lifestyle and diet not to mention the cost.
