And when you ask questions, they make it seem like you're asking too much or tell you to do better. I prefer the girl chiropractor but she's only there one day a week. Expect to explain why you're there for your insurance even though no other chiropractor does this. And you can't use work. Just a very unwelcoming environment when you first walk in. No one says hi.

I don't need to watch videos or have anyone explain to me the benefits of going to a chiropractor. I just need an adjustment. Plain and simple. Maybe some people need this, but I don't. Don't treat everyone the same. I don't have time for the BS. I understand the process of initial assessment on a first visit, however I expect to get at least one adjustment on my first visit so that my back pain could have some relief. But nope, not here. Maybe on my second visit? Nope. I had to come back again to watch some videos and then possibly start having small adjustments done little by little each time I come back. This Chiropractor doesn't want to go fast. Great, but I still need some relief. Instead, He wants you to come back at least 3x or more a week so he can slowly start working on you. This is a great money maker for him because it requires people to come back over and over and over during the week and hopefully get some relief. I've been to chiropractors on the West coast and they do adjustments on the first day. My last Chiropractor who I miss dearly helped me out right away when I first came in to see her. No videos, no long talks about chiropractors ext... I was only required to come back once a week for adjustments. I understand some people need to possibly come back for more adjustments during the week, but not everyone. This is how this place works. Everyone has to pay up before any real work starts to happen. I've talked to other people who have gone here and they say the same thing. Unfortunately, there are not many choices in Mason city and people don't know better. It shouldn't cost you and arm and a leg to go to the chiropractor. You shouldn't have to make multiple appointments just to get some relief. That should be done right away. Anyway, enough of my rant. Needed to take my mom in for an evaluation and adjustment. The last chiropractor she had was a bit…read morerough so I wanted to try out this place. I was able to make an appointment right away since my mom was in severe back pain. This place is snuggled between two other businesses and you could almost miss it. It's clean and the receptionist was very nice. We first had some x-rays done to see what the issues were with my mom's back. Eventually, the Dr. came in to give an evaluation. He talked to us explaining what the issues were and how he could help. He did some physical adjustments, showed my mom some excercises, put some KT tape on my mom's back and told her to drink a lot of water. I'm glad the Dr. was able to do some actual physical adjusting instead of using an adjustment tool. I do believe adjustment tools work for some areas of the body...but not the whole body. I am also glad he didn't do a sales pitch about a product or show us videos on how great chiropractors are. I already know they work. SooOOo anyway, made another appointment for my mom. Hopefully, my mom will start feeling better soon.

Receptionist is super friendly and caring. Dr. Voortman is understanding and very knowledgeable. My first appointment consisted of an initial nutritional response testing and orientation. It lasted about 20 min. Next, I was advised to take some whole food supplements (Standard Process) to detox my liver back into shape. I made another appointment for the next week and off I went. Week one: took Spanish black raddish, and congaplaex. First week I was fine. Week 1-1/2: Went to the next appointment an my liver is starting to heal. Nice. 3 days days later...my body really stated to detox. I ended up with a fever, body aches and the whole wham bam detox from hell for the next 2 days. I called Dr. Voortman and told her my body is not doing well. She told me to come see her right away (without charge) and she tested me for some things and then suggested to take garlic for drainage... Hopefully, I will be feeling better soon. I will update this when I do. But either way..Dr. Voortmans office has been very understanding and helpful and I would recommend them.
