After initially contacting them in October of 2022, I didn't receive an estimate until the end of December, but I told them I didn't mind waiting until after the new year to begin. In February, we made some adjustments to the design & finally had a solid plan & an AGREED UPON PRICE. I was told they'd send me a 3D rendering of my kitchen in 2 weeks so we could choose cabinet & counter colors. In March I still hadn't heard anything, so checked in to see how things were coming along & was told by the new rep, (I think his name was Obed) that my previous sales rep no longer worked there. I specifically asked if they still wanted to do this job or if they were too busy. He assured me they were able to go forward but I guess they didn't have the old rep's notes, so we had to start over. We had a couple of cancelled appointments due to COVID, but several guys came out June 3rd & offered some great ideas. I gave them copies of my print out that listed all the work I needed done & asked if this could be accomplished within my budget. Obed said that as long as we chose the less expensive cabinets it should work. He said he'd get me a new quote by the next week. By the end of July I still hadn't heard anything so I (again very nicely) checked in. They had obviously forgotten all about me & hastily threw together an estimate (forgetting a lot of the things we'd talked about even though I printed out the plan for them). It was $25,000 more than the agreed upon price, but it also didn't include several of the things I needed done, reused my old gutters instead of replacing them (as Obed himself had insisted we needed to do) and on top of all that, now I had to buy many of the materials myself! I can only imagine how much higher the costs would soar after THAT added expense! The new estimate was an increase of more than a THIRD of the total project, and that's BEFORE adding in the materials! The initial quote included everything. I was understandably upset, since I thought we were ready to proceed on roughly the original February quote ... that we'd already agreed to. I get that prices have increased, but I doubt they've gone up over 40% in just 4 months! Plus, the delay was on THEIR end. Still, I didn't get mean, yell or curse. I just said this felt like a "bait & switch." They clearly found this very offensive and sent me back a dismissive email "wishing me the best of luck with my new contractors." They offered no apology for wasting almost a year of my time & made no attempt to sit down and look over the estimate to see if we could cut costs somewhere ... Nothing but a kiss-off, and after I waited so patiently, without a single complaint ... for NINE MONTHS! This is not how professionals treat their clients. They have great reviews on other sites, but I'd strongly advise you to be wary of this company. They do put estimates in writing but it would be very wise to insist on a Start Date & a Locked-in Price. A quote in writing clearly means nothing.

After looking at the work required in replacing the tub, Doug looked at the bathroom and mentioned for a few thousand more he could renovate the entire room. I asked him to provide me an estimate for both the tub and bathroom remodel for consideration. Doug provided a very reasonable estimate for both jobs. The remodel estimate was below the estimates provided by the other firms for a much smaller job. After many emails from me with questions on tiling, colors, and scheduling, Doug and crew began work on the remodel. The crew was friendly, courteous, and very professional. With his extensive background and experience, Doug provided sound advice on material and the techniques he would use. The tub and tile installation was of extraordinary high quality and people have complimented us on the updated look of the bathroom. Pros: - PM Jonathan was very communicative and easy to work with - Final work quality was overall good with no major functional issues - Speed to start and finish the project was very fast - Ease of working through Executive Improvements via Home Depot Cons: - Design process was arduous, requiring two very lengthy screenshare phone calls that I would've preferred be more turnkey or asynchronous - Lots of points of contact involved from the initial estimator, to the designer, to the PM, to the day-to-day crew chief - On the ground team did not speak English and was difficult to communicate preferences to without going through the PM - Minor flaws with fixtures were not noticed by the onsite crew and required followup; even upon replacement the materials from the supplier were not totally free of deficiencies, which is more of a supplier issue but still somewhat frustrating - Cost was competitive but seemed like more efficiencies in cost could be found; for example, there were several days where one of the crew members spent most of the day on his cell phone sitting in the corner of the room, and there were also a lot of leftover materials - Team did not put up dust protection, which led to a LOT of construction dust throughout my home - Team could have done a better job with cleaning up debris and dust from my garage and driveway

Unfortunately, Amilcar Benitez is a is no longer ethical and has turned to dishonesty and being quite shady. He painted our brand-new home in early 2020 at a cost of $10,000, which included every wall in the home as well as all the ceilings. Amilcar asked for the specific white color from Sherwin Williams that we wanted, and we gave him the information. I noticed that while they were painting the house, at the end of each day they left the grey paint for the walls on the job overnight (normal), but there was never any ceiling paint around while the crew was not here. On one of the days of the job, I dropped by while the crew was here and I noticed a 5-gallon bucket of paint that was not the correct white. I asked Amilcar about it and he assured me it was for the garage, which was also going to be painted white but we had not specified the color because who cares, it's just the garage. At the end of the job, Amilcar mentioned they couldn't finish all the last rounds of touchups, but they would be back after we finished moving in. Even though his contract stated the last payment was not due until the job was finished, he asked me to pay him the rest of the money. I wouldn't have paid him if I didn't know and trust him, but that was a mistake because he never sent anyone by to finish the job. In addition, within a few days, I noticed a lot of sloppy work had been done in the basement since it was painted last. The crew didn't protect the carpet, and there are several areas with a lot of paint that had been dropped. I contacted Amilcar a few times about this, but he did not return my calls. Fast forward 8 months later and the builder is fixing all the nail pops on the drywall, which is pretty standard and covered under their 1-year warranty. I went to the basement where Shalom placed all the leftover paint, and there was no ceiling paint which I thought was odd. Oh well, I still had a record of the paint color for the ceilings that I had sent to Amilcar so I went to Sherwin Williams and asked for gallon of the same color ceiling paint. After the builder touched up the ceiling paint all over the house, we noticed that the white color was completely different than what was already on there! I was stunned, but now it made sense why Amilcar and his crew had been so shady about not leaving us any leftover ceiling paint and why every day when they were leaving, they would take the ceiling paint with them. I called Amilcar about this and he stated it was probably a mistake and that he would look through his records and talk to his guys. This was in November and since then, I have called him multiple times, emailed, texted, everything. He has completely ghosted me, which further shows this was all done intentionally and he doesn't want to do anything to make it right. Unfortunately, now I have 6,0000 square feet of ceiling that looks really bad on all the spots that were touched up. Since Amilcar wasn't even nice enough to tell me which color they actually used, I have no way of matching it, so I am going to have to pay thousands of dollars to re-paint all the ceilings in the entire house. Mistakes are human, but anyone that is ethical would try to fix it. When they purposely are shady and don't offer to make things right, this is when you're better off avoiding this person at all costs!
