With over seven years of experience and hundreds of satisfied customers, it's clear why they are so highly regarded. They completely remodeled my kitchen, repaired problems behind the baseboard in the living room, removed two built-ins, a closet and a short wall between the living room and the foyer, replaced lighting, painted and laid LVP flooring throughout all three areas. The owner's creativity shines through in their innovative ideas. For instance, they significantly transformed the living room by removing the built-ins and connecting wall, creating a spacious and open layout. This was a game-changer for me, and I would not have thought of it myself. When they finished, new LVP flooring covered every surface, and the walls were painted to perfection. A doorway between the kitchen and the garage was widened, and a new door installed. The closet and built-ins in the living room were completely removed, and all new cabinetry, a double wall oven, refrigerator, cooktop, sink, and pot lights were installed in the kitchen. The backsplash was exactly what I wanted. It is absolutely beautiful. To ensure a seamless match, the owner and their crew showed up with some used light fixtures from their warehouse, providing them at no cost. I will have them back to install new light fixtures in the living room when I have the funds. Amazingly, A R General Contracting completed the entire project in just three weeks! The owner's daily presence and the dedication of their crew ensured that every detail was meticulously executed. AR General Contracting does not start a job and then disappear to work on another job. They stay on the job until it is completed. Their prices are very fair. Payments are made along the way in a very reasonable sequence. There were no subcontractors - - they have all their bases covered with professionals on board. They can do anything that has to do with your renovation, plumbing, electrical work, painting, etc.. This was my first experience having renovations done and I was blessed to find A. R. General Contracting. We all have heard horror stories about working with contractors doing renovations. If you are thinking about renovating or doing anything else to your home, I would advise you to reach out to A. R. General Contracting and talk to them about your job. They are absolutely outstanding! Website: https://argeneralcontractingllc.com

We had a project completed by R.E. Horner Construction. This Project consisted of adding a 12x19…read moreaddition, a screened in deck, with a remodeled and extended bathroom, also we added a new roof and vinyl siding. R.E. Horner is owned and operated by Brian Vaughan and we found him very professional, knowledgeable and respectful. We had screened/interviewed 5 different contracting companies. R.E. Horner was not the highest nor were they the lowest contractor's bid.  We choose R.E. Horner because Brian seemed to know what he was doing and had great ideas. We are working professionals in the DMV area who had never taken on such a major project or what we considered a major project. Bottom Line Up Front: Overall, all work is great, would we use R.E. Horner again? Absolutely, would we recommend R.E. Horner? Absolutely, Brian knows everything that is supposed to be done, and his oversight and management of his subcontractors are great and he does ensure they do their jobs correctly. Lessons We Learned as Customers: * We have to be more specific in the details to of the contract, for such things as cabinets, facets, toilets, specific light switches and outlets. Verbal exchanges are good but are NOT bidding. * Communication and response criteria must be established within the contract whereas the contractor will have to get back with you within a certain periodicity. * Inspections were conducted by the county, however, review and workmanship inspections should be conducted routinely by the customer and have it in the contract, if the contractor indicates that you will like the project when it is completed, acknowledge but ensure you inspect and do quality assurance during the process. * When the contractor accepts the job, that acceptance means they understand the amount of travel and routes they are taking to your location or residence. So, their commute or any experiences they encounter are not applicable to the project. * As a customer, you have to stay engaged, regardless of the comfort level you have with the contractor, this will assist in ensuring proper caulking, hardware installation and any other materials that are installed to your liking and comfort. * As a customer ensure you are getting what you are paying for because in business sometimes we can blindly trust, when it's just business to the contractor. So, understanding contractor grade products keep their profits high, so if you do have an allowance for any item, actually pick the items yourself but stay within your limits, don't defer because this is business and the contractor will try to keep the products as low priced as possible (quality). * Understand your county permit process and understand it may take weeks if not months to get the appropriate permits to accomplish your task. * Expect limited or no communication once the project is completed and the final check is cut by the contractor. R.E. Horner is a great Class A contractor and will get the job done. We are overall satisfied with the project and got a beneficial education in the process. As with anything else it's the nature of the beast, however, next time we will know how to tame the beast a little better. Hope this was insightful for all. C & M

As a first time and last time customer of Genesis, if I could make this review for this company a 0…read morestar I would. Online reviews from google show their good side but you have to read further back and on other sites to find the, true colors, poor reviews. Genesis responded to my inquiry for a basement finishing job ( framing, electrical, plumbing, drywall to paint ready, install a full bath, 1 office and 1 bedroom and completion with ready to paint drywall and no flooring). Work was set to begin in April 2025 but was 3 weeks late due to Genesis being behind on 2 other jobs as I was told. My wife and I were told MANY TIMES, this job was going to be done before our first son was to arrive end of May 2025 but the job was not completed with paint ready drywall with the until September 2025. I was accompanied by Mark for the final walkthrough before any work was scheduled to begin and we adjusted a few items. Later I found out that the changes were only written in his notepad and were not known about until a month later when the bathroom shower (that was changed for the contractor to supply). I had to spend $2k spontaneously to purchase a shower insert that still took 2 weeks to arrive and blamed for the delay. I was later asked for more money after giving them 1/2 deposit of total job with not even full framing done due to the delay " I caused". The subcontractors this company uses are subpar, very dirty, unprofessional, lack any care for the homes that are not their own. They used my homes facilities, pissed all over the floors multiple times, left construction debris, trash, and cigarette buts all over my lawn which killed sections of my yard not to mention the amount of times we cleaned up the street of debris left by everyone over and over. Before what was supposed to be the "final inspection" I was again sent repeated invoices for a job that was not completed. The framers got defensive once confronted about their work when there was issues present. I doubt if they did repairs to their own homes the job would be right the first time. Many times repairs had to be redone including the cutting for an egress window that had to be pulled out and recut/ framed 3 times from my homes foundation due to either being too small or not framed/ installed right. No dust mitigation was done and my houses smoke alarms were going off and the people are asking my wife how to turn them off. The barely any English speaking crew asked my wife how the window had to be installed like they were clueless as to how they just pulled the window out again. Bathroom was mis-framed, a column was supposed to be in a wall but is not, We asked for some type of dust/ dirt mitigation (expecting that regardless there would be some due to the work done) but there was none done and only a sheet of plastic put up after repeatedly telling them to do something. Debris was left all over my basement while work was done and the first inspector said this was a disaster of a job site. Once my son was born I found out my house failed what was supposed to be the "final inspection" and I was again sent repeated invoices for a job that was not completed. Genesis is quick to request money for work that isn't completed. I have supplies that I can not return due to their delays, a basement that still requires more work after they stated they were done, additional damages to my home that were not compensated for. The owner never responded to any of my messages, the project manager was apologetic and just repeated it'll be 2 weeks, as my house was his first basement job. I waited 2 weeks with no response from the owner and they put a lean on the house that was removed after much back and forth about compensation and final payment. What was promised as a 3-4 week job, per the owner, took 5 months, more of my own money lost on continuous repairs and supplies unused and unreturnable, a home that is not still not able to be done after my son turned 7 months due to their mistakes, lack of communication, poor planning. My home was never a priority but a filler job. I found posts about Genesis dropping what they had going on todo other work for someone getting their house ready to sell. There is many more issues that I can't list here. I personally regret reaching out to their company if I really knew how they treated really treat their customers.
