I contacted Dave after seeing all the 5-star reviews and being in an extreme bind due to a 30-year-old open permit and a pending sale. I spoke with Dave and he assured me that he would be down at Islip town hall as soon as he got the initial payment of $500. Well, I sent the payment and then the floor plans and survey. I spoke to him and he said he was going to go down there and check in with me in about 3 days. I reach out to him one week later and he doesn't return my text. I text him after another week and he still does not respond. I call my realtor and ask her to try. He takes a day or two but finally responds to her. He tells her he is still planning his "approach" with the town. He then offers to return the $500. He never did anything. When I spoke to him via text he said well I said it takes some time to find the permit. This is a complete and total lie. Before hiring him I called the town and confirmed the open permit in 4 minutes on the phone. If I knew that he was not going to do ANYTHING I would have done this myself and not hired an expeditor to make the process move faster. I am now beginning the process again and have been notified that I am probably going to lose the buyer of my home and the new home I was buying. Thanks, Dave for completely screwing me over! I hired and paid David to draw up some plans for a portico and submit a complete application to the town. A month passes and nothing. Almost two months pass and my husband had to reach out in order to get in contact with him as he was not responding to any of my messages. He got really aggressive with my husband and told him that he mailed out the plans and if we didn't get them that was not his problem. We got plans a few days later that were postmarked for a date after his and my husband's conversation, clearly he had never sent them. On top of that the measurements of my stoop were completely off. After some back and forth we finally got a draft of plans that included the correct measurements and specifications we were looking for. After giving him the OK I asked him to go ahead and submit the application to the town with a finalized version of the plans. I didn't want to hound him as he told me that it would take a few weeks to get a response. I let about five weeks pass and then text him asking for confirmation the application was submitted and a projected turn around time. No response. I text him a week later and he mentions that he was just returning from vacation and would get back to me the next day. No problem, except he never got back to me the following day. In fact, I let 2 1/2 weeks pass by and he still never got back to me. I texted him again and again I received no response. It was at this point I decided to go in person to Town Hall and inquire about my application. Both the person I spoke to in the permit department and their supervisor confirmed that an application was never filed. They even stated that if David had in fact submitted the application and plans when he said he did they would have already received them and reviewed them. I texted David upset stating what I had learned and asking for a refund. This time he finally responded, after attempting to talk to him for about a month. His response, he was away and had just returned to the office even though he had used this vacation excuse two weeks ago. I sent him letter and an email listing my grievances and asking for a refund. He ignored me and instead forwarded my email to his attorney. I find this pretty funny considering I paid for a set of finalized plans and his expeditor services and all I got was a draft of plans that cannot be sent to the town as they aren't even stamped and sealed. He ran off with my money and has the audacity to reach out to his attorney. At 6 1/2 months pregnant I don't need to be dealing with this nonsense. I have gone through almost my whole pregnancy waiting for these plans and the permit he was paid to apply for. I am sure my child will get here and he will still be ignoring my messages and I'll still have no plans, no permit, and no portico. Save yourself the trouble, use someone else. read more

He tells people what they want to hear and takes deposits and then disappears. Even the person that originally recommended me to him ended up having problems with him. My issue was not a big one, more of an easier permit to handle, he assured me that he can take care of it & took a deposit from me, also took filing fees.
