Visited the Poseidon SPA for the first time for a little R&R so close to home in St. Augustine and…read moreso beautiful. It is attached to the historic Casa Monica Resort & Spa, the Kessler Collection hotels, and the level of professionalism and skill at this spa is outstanding. From the friendly greeting upon arrival, to the well appointed sitting rooms and luxurious robes, this place exceeds expectations at every turn. I had the Poseidon signature massage and opted for the scalp and face massage. My massage therapist Tiki was awesome, and after she talked me through the services I'd signed up for, she also paid special attention to the problem areas I had mentioned. After I was completely relaxed from my massage. With multipurpose rooms for facials, body treatments, and massages, the Poseidon Spa also offers couples room and several pedicure and manicure stations. Hair and make-up stations are available to serve bridal parties and guests attending formal events. There's also a beautiful retail boutique. I can't thank Poseidon Spa and @casamonicaresortandspa enough, it was an absolutely perfect treat, such a beautiful relaxed day. The Poseidon Spa is located at 53 King St. in downtown St. Augustine, at the Casa Monica Hotel. For more information, call (904) 819-6155 to book your appointment. ‍

However, this is definitely not a luxury spa experience and the pricing is hard to justify for what's offered. The "locker room" is essentially just a bathroom, there are no real spa amenities, and the only additional facility is a standard hotel pool. There was no relaxing or elevated atmosphere at all. Also we were on our own to figure out pool space. Pool is outdated all cushions are stained, no attendants, old towels etc. The front desk staff felt cold and inconvenienced by basic questions, which added to the overall disappointment. The massages themselves were good, but overall this felt more like a hotel add-on than an actual spa experience -- especially at these prices.

The massage table itself is beautiful and inviting with beautiful wood arches supporting the bars the Corrie floats like a fairy amongst. I have no idea what she was doing up there but it sure seemed like magic. You never see her doing whatever is going on up there and I like that. It keeps it mystical. So, the massage itself. Withing seconds of her stepping on my back I had the revelation of how sensical an approach it was. I always have moments in a traditional massage where I'm examining how exhausting a job that must be. Not with Corrie! She's using gravity and feet in a way that is so powerful but graceful that it is like having an out of body experience. Also, each foot is 2 if not 3 tools so the range of motions available is exponentially more than when using hands. I loved how physical the whole massage was. I put down on my entry card that I was looking for touch and relaxation and there was a lot of both. Corrie also incorporates a lot of stretching in the massage and the combination of stretching you into a pose to better isolate a muscle and work on it was tremendous. I did the 90 minutes to start and get the experience and it was magical. I swear I don't work there or get a free toaster for writing this. It was just that good and I felt like she deserved a well thought out review from a first-time visitor. I'll be back. I may move closer to cut down on the commute!

I needed a " Bibbidi Bada "ME" Boo" moment! Boy did Jacob and Dan come in to rescue me! No intent of reputation harm was intentioned, rather to fix their mistakes and terrible service before I posted for all to see. I genuinely do not understand the high ratings for this salon after my experience. I paid $75 before tip for a "spa pedicure" that lasted barely over 30 minutes, left my toenails uneven and misshapen, and resulted in my toe being cut and bleeding. Before the service even started, I specifically mentioned that my biggest concern was being cut. That exact thing still happened. The technician used cuticle scissors on my toenails, pulled at thin nails instead of properly trimming them, left scrub residue on my legs, and sent me out the door with nails that looked unfinished and uneven. Several nails were completely different lengths and shapes, including nails that were not damaged to begin with. What bothered me even more was the salon's response afterward. Instead of taking accountability for the quality of the service, they blamed the condition of my nails from previous gel use. I had already explained the condition of my nails before the service began and she assured me it was not an issue she deals with it all the time. If my nails were supposedly too damaged to safely or properly perform the pedicure, that should have been communicated upfront instead of taking my money and giving me a result that honestly looked worse than when I walked in. I also clarified that the pre-existing chip in one toenail was NOT what caused me to bleed. The cut happened separately during the service and on a completely different toe. At this price point, I expected professionalism, attention to detail, and basic care. Instead, I left with uneven nails, a cut toe, and an email response that felt more focused on defending the service than resolving the issue. I would strongly encourage anyone considering this salon for nail services to think twice. There are too many salons charging premium prices to risk walking out with results like this.
