I would give negative stars if I could. This is a review of their online video service…read more Beware that there are no psychiatrists on staff - they are all NPs (nurse practitioners). For therapy, watch out since many of them are trainees training on your dime, but charging full price. Check their credentials: AMFT (Associate Marriage and Family Therapist), ASW (Associate Clinical Social Worker), APCC (Associate Professional Clinical Counselor). I needed a leave of absence (LOA) form to be provided to my work. They wanted to charge me $75 for each paperwork filled, more $ if it is "complicated." I ended up requesting my medical notes (which they are obligated to give you for free), and then forwarding to my primary care physician to have them fill out my forms for state disability (EDD) and LOA that my employer requires. The first time, even though they didn't provide me with a note, they charged me for it. I called 3 times and finally after a month, got it removed from my account billing. I am seeing their care givers for a mental health problem - I can't be expected to micromanage these things. They usually take about a week to send my medical notes. It's either the NP who doesn't have time to write down their notes until a few days later or the office staff who bumbles uploading the paperwork onto your documents folder (you have to login each time to get this - they will not email to you). I was charged $150 for being late to an appointment. I was 20 minutes late and didn't get to see anyone. They said it was policy that if I'm more than 15 min late, they leave the session and you get charged. If I'm paying for the full session, shouldn't I get whatever time is left? Beware that you can only communicate with your therapist/nurse practitioner through their online messaging system. You have to log into the system EACH TIME you want to check if they responded to your message. My disability is such that doing this is very hard. Stay away from this place if you can! If you don't have a mental health issue, then maybe you have the head space to manage your account, keep track of paperwork, and followup for prescriptions they said they sent to the pharmacy.

Of course she did charge my insurance two $300+ half hours for every "talk" session (read that, total 600+$/h). Then, out of no where, maybe because insurance started bouncing her double charges, she started telling me she stopped offering that kind of talk therapy. She didn't even give me notice to find a new therapist. It seems to me that it was more important for her to keep her inflated paycheck higher than actually do the right thing in her job or a single patient who was having a difficult time. My last session with her she tried to threaten to bring security to me because she was "threatened". When I asked from what, she couldn't say a thing until I insisted to call security to prove that she asked this and that she is not harmed. What kind of doctor puts a patient in a position of legal threat just as they cannot handle talk therapy because they rather charge the most number of people? It feels that dr. Wisenberg has the bed side manners of a surgeon in an organ harvesting heist.

I found Dr. Cohen on Yelp in December when I was battling a particularly nasty bout of depression…read more My usual refuges of eating healthier, exercising, or diving into hobbies weren't improving my mood. I lacked motivation, excitement for activities I once loved, and felt incapable of working, so after months of suffering I called Dr. Cohen. I've seen therapists off and on at various stages of my life, typically to talk about how I was currently feeling or my childhood. Though it was nice to talk to someone, I never felt like I made progress, developed coping tools or learned why *like clockwork* I'd spend 1/2 the year in a depressed state. In just a few months since seeing Dr. Cohen, I've had several breakthroughs which have helped me to understand the source of my depression. I'm also learning to be mindful of my triggers, so that I don't feel completely consumed by my emotions. I've been able to return to work and I've gone from being a withdrawn, shell of myself to feeling the full variety of my emotions. I'm still in recovery, but I'm learning to be patient with myself, to be kinder to myself, and to be more flexible. I wish I'd had Dr. Cohen earlier in my life, but I'm thankful to be in her care now and have her support. If you're ready to earnestly put in the work to get better, do yourself a favor and give her a call today.

For the plus side, I think she's a decent listener and she would be a good therapist for people…read morethat mostly have their lives together and have a lot of money to spend on therapy. I think for any struggling individual, I would strongly recommend avoiding her as a doctor/therapist. Dr. Cohen saw my mother 1-4 times a month over the course of a year. To list out all of the unprofessional, uncaring, ways Dr. Cohen has treated my mother and me as clients would take too long to write and too long to read, so I'll try to stick with the bigger issues. 1. Dr. Cohen discharged my mother from her care due to her and me being "too difficult of clients" before going on a month-long vacation. I believe Dr. Cohen's health isn't what it once was, and I believe at this point in her career she is only looking for "easy" cases. 2. After discharging my mother from her care, Dr. Cohen kindly gave us a few months of prescription refills. After I was unable to get them extended by a few urgent care doctors and came to Dr. Cohen for help, she refused to extend any refills. I offered to pay for another session in exchange for one last extension. She reluctantly agreed, called the pharmacy to extend the prescription by one final month, and then charged me $900 for 3 sessions. This is months after discharging us from her care and she has never seen us since, the only care she has given us was a phone call to the pharmacy. *EDIT* Dr. Cohen has since refunded us $900 after seeing this yelp review and receiving calls from my credit card company. 3. Dr. Cohen prides herself on therapy over drugs. Her website and my first meetings with her convinced me that she was someone I could trust to really attempt to fix problems rather than increasing drug dosages. I was wrong. For every new issue that came up, Dr. Cohen's first response was to recommend increasing medication dosages. For my mother's drowsiness during the day, the first thing she recommended was to increase her sleeping medication rather than focusing on behaviors that could have impacted her sleep (caffeine intake, lack of exercise, etc.) Aside from those big 3 issues, there were a handful of minor issues that I've seen in some other yelp reviews. 4. She often, and unnecessarily, takes client time to fumble with technology. She is very clearly not technically proficient, yet she insists on using client time to attempt to set up apps / open google spreadsheets, etc. She doesn't come prepared to sessions and doesn't want to do any of this outside of client time. 5. Despite my mother's native tongue clearly not being English, Dr. Cohen speaks overly academically and focuses more on expressing herself vs. being understood. Her language was often either pretentious or condescending, with little in-between. 6. After almost every session, she encouraged me to write a Yelp review. Maybe just a pet peeve but I don't think you should give subpar service and then ask your customer to write a review. Overall, I think there are people out there that Dr. Cohen is capable of helping. However, I genuinely do not believe that Dr. Cohen is capable of helping people that are actually in need of help. For that reason I believe her to be the most disappointing medical professional I have ever come across.

I have never published/written a negative review in my life. I really should have read the Yelp…read morereviews before making an appointment. I reached out over a month ago and agreed to a mid-January appointment, which was then rescheduled (first red flag). I received an incredibly curt and condescending response when I asked to confirm the new appointment time (I had missed something in the previous email, which she pointed out in a way that was clearly intended to make me feel stupid). I spent my most recent session with my usual therapist preparing for this session with Dr. Griffiths, writing down and preparing myself to talk about extremely traumatic events. For those who have had to deal with PTSD/ depression, this is an incredibly difficult task to do. And with my depression, I tend to sleep a lot - I fell asleep and was 15 minutes late to my SIXTY minute session. I was refused my appointment, despite the fact that there was 45 minutes left. The next appointment out wasn't for weeks. It's very hard for me to believe that this practice takes mental health seriously. I do not understand how it operates as a psychiatry practice, where empathy and validation should be the top priorities. They are dealing with people who have severe illnesses (I'm not just a little sad) and doing so with very little mercy. Refusing to meet a severely ill patient because she was 15 minutes late and offering an appointment that is a month out.... how is this your profession?

I've known Dr. Griffiths for 3 years and I'm convinced she is one of the best psychiatrist in the…read morebay area. For me, that comes down to effectiveness, empathy, and environment. 1) Effectiveness: Overall she is a great doctor that helped diagnose and treat my disorder. She informs me about side effects so I know what to look out for and makes adjustments as issues arise - all the while considering my overall wellbeing by, for example, finding alternatives to a medicine that may have addictive properties. She's professional, knowledgeable, and answers my questions thoroughly. These days I'm getting back on my feet in a way that I thought I never would 3 years ago. 2) Empathy: I've had many insurance changes so I've seen a lot of different psychiatrists; I was struck by how cold and apathetic other doctors were. In complete contrast, Dr. G is incredibly warm, listens exceptionally well, remembers things about you, and makes you feel like she cares about your health and happiness (e.g. through her affect, affirmation, advice). 3) Environment: Dr. G opened a new practice (Mensana SF) and it's a really awesome office. Most importantly, the office staff, like Brandie and Monica, are fantastic. They're the best office staff I've encountered. They are very nice and hilarious, which makes the visit great from start to finish. They're also precise, I haven't had any issues with them in terms of scheduling appointments or calling in prescriptions. They are truly an anomaly and refreshing from the other offices that I've dealt with that had irate receptionists that tended to mess up appointments (I really think for mental health offices, general niceness to suffering patients seems like it should be a given). Also the office itself is relaxing and looks like it's out of a magazine. The furnishing is modern and tastefully done - which makes the whole process feel much less clinical. As someone that felt the difficulty of finding a doctor in the bay area and read tons of reviews in search of a good one, stop your search and take my word for it that you won't regret coming into Mensana. I moved an hour away and I didn't even consider finding another doctor.
