The clothes are more expensive than you'd pay in Next or other chains but they seem well made and are usually more fun and appealing. As well as jeans, hoodies, sweaters, skirts and dresses in stripes, spots and bright colours, they sell graphic tees with surf, ski, basketball, superhero and rock logos and illustrations. I love the long sleeve Rolling Stones tee but really, how many five or six year olds are going to wear The Police one and have heard Synchronicity?!

The clothing is slightly on the expensive side - but is good quality and always modern designs. Best thing is that they seem to have a constant reduced rail ! I remember growing up being a particular fan of their funky carrier bags - use one of these for your PE kit and you were part of the cool gang (Ok, really showing my age now!) But like their carrier bags, the clothing has slipped down in my estimation. I rarely find anything I like here and the whole experience usually stresses me out, especially at sale time. Random items of clothing litter the shop and it's so full of hormonal teenagers there is barely room to move (there I go again...!) With the website now offering the whole range you do not even have to leave the house to get a feel for the types of clothes they have to offer. They person who does the buying for the Laurels is obviously into patterns, as they stock a lot of Orla Kiely stuff, Cath Kidson homeware and Marimekko clothing. Personally I find Orla Kiely patterns a bit blobby, and Cath Kidson a bit too twee, but if you like that look then this place is great. It is certainly a stark contrast to shops like Flint who go in for the 'any colour as long as it is a variation of off white' look. The stock, being branded, isn't particularly cheap (the Marimekko dresses were around £150, despite being very simple designs), but the fact that they sell lots of little bits and pieces means this would probably be a good place to look for presents for mums/kids, etc.
