I went to this middle school for a total of 3 years. I absolutely hated EVERY SECOND of it... Let…read moreme start with the atmosphere of the school... DEAD. Almost all the teachers either seem so out of it they'd rather be in an actual prison, or so deeply depressed in their own lives to actually teach to their struggling students. Seriously, my old Italian teacher would literally tell my friend about her dying marriage in the middle of class. There is a large sum of teachers here who, for lack of a better term, seriously give no fucks. Their teachings methods are LAUGHABLE at best and they do literally nothing aside from patronize students and make it seem like it's entirely their fault. They treat the children here like literal inmates! Kids I know now, call the school Indian Jail, because of how POORLY we were treated. Bullying is handled SO POORLY, and that's coming from someone who was BEAT UP in this school!! And I was being watched by a gym teacher (who I can't name for legal reasons unfortunately. But I'll tell you this, she's obese and has metal in her knees) . This woman watched as I was beaten up, thrown around, kicked, yelled at and tossed onto the floor for literal months straight. At one point, I was gutted so hard my knee kicked up the sink and it SLAMMED back down on the pipe making a loud noise that echoed through the locker room. And all this woman did was scold me for being loud and not telling her what happened. I have no sympathy for her. I was literally suicidal over it and told school officials who did absolutely nothing about it. Now let's talk about the jokes that have running the Dean's office. First off, they go through Deans quicker than chain smokers finishing off cigarette packs. And the people they pick to be Deans, always have this tendency to be insanely horrible. One of the Deans (who I again can't mention) brought out a MEGAPHONE during our lunch period to dismiss us to eat... A MEGAPHONE! What are you a warden commanding your inmates? Seriously, half the time I was here it was plainly obvious that all the adults working here were just sad and trying to fulfill the fantasy of being some sort of supreme authority figure. Like, pal this is a middle school... not a correctional facility!?! Another thing that completely unnerved me when I attended, was the fact that (at least when I went) the entire school was like a time capsule back to 1975. The locker rooms were in such depraved condition that the paint from the lockers was peeling off and piled on the floor. Kids would scrape graffiti onto doors because the paint was so easy to chip off. There were water stains on more than half of the ceiling tiles. Lights would flicker and buzz, there were rumored to be rats in the basement, walls and doors had wood that was SO OLD it would give you splinters, and there was GRIME and MOLD littered across the locker room. Even though no one used the showers? How does that even happen? Pipes and electrical wires would break almost weekly. One time, a pipe burst in the commons during school... and the principal made us stay and EAT WHILE IT WAS BEING FIXED. Forget that your students could get sprayed with water or have a ceiling tile hit them. No, no, no... let's keep them at school instead of dismissing them for a pipe bursting! The food at the school is downright horrendous... I knew kids who got food poisoning from it. I knew kids who got their lunch taken from them constantly. Some kids would even STARVE because the "lunch monitors" would hold them back from getting their food because some kids were "too loud". Awesome, let's starve these growing kids and punish them for talking during their break period... really? What kind of behavior does this aim to fix or teach? Not to mention that the tables and floors were rarely cleaned well. So all the tables and seats would be sticky to the touch. I will say this one positive thing about the school... there are good teachers within it's hellish walls. But don't get me wrong here... there are TERRIBLE ones!!! I will name the good teachers I had at this school because they deserve praise: Ms. Luzietti, Mr. Parker, Mrs. Fornek and Mr. Biba. Those are the only fun and good teachers that I can remember at this school. And they didn't do the following: punish their students for having needs or questions, shame their students, or talk about their very personal issues with their students. And I can say this, I actually learned and had good memories in their classrooms. Mr. Parker actually taught me math, Ms. Luzietti actually taught me language arts, Mrs. Fornek made history fun, and Mr. Biba is just awesome no questions lol. But the rest of them are subpar are WORSE. Overall, if you live in the Addison area... please send your kids to a different middle school... Go to Woodale or Peacock. Because if this place left me with literal trauma and PTSD (I honestly wish I was joking but I'm not) your kid won't survive... trust me. Thanks for reading my essay

This school is bad, I've been here for 2 years and this is from a students perspective, it's…read morehorrible, if there's bullying they do nothing, the most they do is write and apology, but that barely happens, the new deans are a joke, One dean screams on a microphone at lunch telling us to be quiet, and one is completely stupid, I got in trouble, and the dean started bringing his political views into the discussion, im in the 7th grade you don't bring up your political views to a 12 year old, the school is utter stupid 81% of the school is failing math In 2012, a girl tied herself up in the bathroom and pretended to be raped and the school was on lock down for 3 hours I can't find the specific year but, a former PTA member stole 9,700 dollars from the school And there are many reviews from former teachers and parents who say the kids are treated unfairly. Most of the teachers are fine ( some are horrible but that's besides the point) it's the deans that are an utter joke They suck at there job, once you have a record of trouble at the school, they don't ask questions they get you in trouble immediately. They say they check the cameras but they don't. Last year someone used my ID number to buy themselves lunch ( I don't tell anyone my ID number btw) me and my friend went to the main office to complain and they said oh we'll check the cameras, but it's like a credit card you still have to pay it, and my friend said she knew the first like 3 digits but not the number, and the person in the main office tried arguing with me saying I'm telling people my ID, and i never paid it because I never buy school lunch On to school lunch It's horrible, it's disgusting, and i know people who it's made sick, but some kids have no choice to eat it. I once had a lunch detention and in the lunch detention room the lady didn't let me eat my lunch she said, you have to get a school lunch of the day, which is disgusting, someone else decided no and he got a cookie and a water bottle and the lady took it away and yelled at him, when I told my mom she was pissed because we should be able to eat what we want, and the rest of my lunch detentions I was able to eat my lunch but that shouldn't have happened in the first place. In conclusion this school sucks.

My children always come home and report how their day went and I would always hear unacceptable statements and responses from multiple staff members including substitute teachers. The principle Carrie Stange has a very rude, nonchalant attitude when it comes to my children (African American) Example: my daughter comes home and tells me she had a sub for her class today and that the sub told the kids in the classroom that (quote) " that's why Donald Trump doesn't like black people" so I call Fullerton to discuss the matter with the principle and she stated " the sub wasn't speaking about Black people that in fact she was speaking about Mexicans and that she is also a mexican" bottom line Dr. Stange is a principle whom is supposed to uphold her position with enough respect to not allow any form of discrimination within her school. I must say I am one happy parent that she has been back demoted to the director of education. I don't believe she deserves any higher authority than such, and with the nonchalant attitude I wish her the best of luck on her not so new journey maybe she will get it right this next go round. Good riddance!

However, we were not notified of any injury at the time it occurred or when we picked him up. To this day (weeks later) MAGE has been unable to tell us how or when our son was injured that day. Due to our son's age, he was unable to articulate what happened, but it is obviously unlikely he did this to himself. Due to the lack of information provided by MAGE, the pediatric doctor requested x-rays to eliminate the possibility of a broken bone. After x-rays revealed no broken bones, his arm was adjusted back into place. We were asking for 100% reimbursement of the $530 for the x-rays which was our out-of-pocket after insurance, and MAGE denied our request. We are very dissatisfied with how this was handled.

For a school that is clearly underfunded and in a location where the majority of residents in the…read morecommunity are struggling financially, the teachers and staff create nothing short of miracles every day. They provide a safe and encouraging environment for children of all backgrounds to be successful. The teachers are attentive and find ways to keep their students active and engaged. They are sensitive to external situations, as long as parents provide them with the information needed to accommodate their children. My son attended for 1st and 2nd grade, and I was amazed at his growth and development during his 2 years there. When he started 1st grade, my son was a little behind where he needed to be in reading and comprehension, but by the end of 2nd grade he was reading at grade level and was excelling at math. The area where he needed the most help was his social skills. He's an only child and was struggling due to my recent divorce from his mother. They took the time to understand the situation and find ways to encourage him daily. While he was unable to express himself verbally, they kept close watch and found other ways to help him develop his own voice, often using art and music. His homeroom teachers for 1st and 2nd grade (Mrs. Bain and Ms. Daily) were absolutely amazing... I could not have asked for 2 better teachers who knew exactly what they needed to do to push students to be great, but also to encourage when they needed some help. He also loved his music teacher (Mrs. Lamb) and his gym teacher (Mr. Brumbough, aka Mr. B) who both exude such positive energy and are instantly recognizable when you see them on the campus. These are just the few teachers I knew on a personal basis, but every teacher in the whole school would greet him by name when I walked him to school daily. That's probably the thing that impressed me most about Lincoln and their staff... they really take the time to get to know the students and address them as individuals, teaching them how to be respectful and kind to one another by being wonderful examples themselves. It is unfortunate that we had to move because he would have loved to attend there until 5th grade. The friends he made and the joy he had every day that he attended will always be something we both cherish. Thank you for the excellent service you provide to the Addison Community, Lincoln Elementary! Wish you guys nothing but the best!

They did not do anything for kids who excelled, but at least it felt like kids were cared for. However, when Amber Samuels became the Principal, it had become a cold place for kids to sit through their day. Amber Samuels is abrasive with kids, as opposed to Michelle Cooney, who knew each child by name. She is also abrasive with parents and staff. Not having any kids herself, she lacks understanding children's development, and seems always annoyed at any behaviors that are less than just perfectly sitting still the whole day being quiet. I really wish someone from the District 65 administration reads this and realizes that she is not qualified for the job.
