As a candidate with 20+ years of content, managerial, and development experience, plus obtaining the highest certifications in project management, it is in my interest to see what an agency like Optomi might have to offer. Before agreeing to make the 25-mile drive to their Roswell office, I told the 'recruiter' that I don't consult or provide any information to agencies UNLESS a position is presented. He agreed that they had a position that he felt "was a good fit." However, during our conference, the recruiter could not give me any specific information about the position and it was evident that they were 'scouting' for candidates to have in their pool, and that there was NO position to offer at that time. I.E., I'd been blindsided. I asked the veteran recruiter (the lesser was "new" at this career) why did Optomi have such a difficult time, based on years of applying with various positions with the agency online, following up with applicants (I provided over 40 examples of jobs that I'd personally applied for over a 7-year period). He said blatantly "We follow up with all of them." I revealed my evidence and then he walked back his statement and said "Because of the amount of volume we receive from applicants online, we don't have time to follow up." I then asked the novice recruiter what experience he had recruiting project managers and placing them in positions. He laughed and replied "I haven't. I used to manage the Malibu Grand Prix go-cart park."....... If you're a professional in IT, Health Care, or any other industry that requires high-skills with a formal education to perform your discipline, stay away from this bunch.
