We stayed at Adlers on our last night in the area before flying out. While we had been at the Penz Hotel near the old town our first time through town, we stayed here as it appeared to be easier to drive through and would not be much of an issue for getting to the airport easily. It was also closer to the train station, which our friends would be departing out of as well, and I also wanted to try out something a little different. The parking garage is a bit boring, as it is part of an office complex (as opposed to a mall, which is what the Penz used), and you simply have to pay the going rate of 18 euros/day, with no additional in/out privileges - making having a car here quite a hassle if you are planning a multi-day stay. The hotel itself is in a building that doubles as commercial use; as such, the hotel 'lobby' is just a small side office to the main entrance of the building itself, and the elevator bank is shared as well. Checking in was easy enough, and soon enough we were up on our way. I would note that the elevator bank had multiple buttons and did not make it easy to go up or down, as the room card reader was not working all that well.
The prize for staying here was the view - with floor to ceiling (not that the ceiling is that high) windows, and a north-facing view, you have an absolutely majestic view of the mountain range that surrounds Innsbruck. That alone may be worth the price of admission, and to me, it certainly is what the hotel plays to, given it is one of the tallest buildings (the tallest?) in the city. The finishes are all new, which gives it a modern feeling, but it doesn't feel like the finishes are robust. There is limited closet space, meaning that you will probably be taking what little floor space you have and occupying it with your suitcases. My biggest gripe was with the shower - getting the rainfall showerhead to work took a bit more strength to turn on than I had thought, and the door seal was not completed properly...water leaked out of the shower every time I used it. I did appreciate the large sink, though.
In all, the view is spectacular (from the room, as well as the rooftop restaurant - although the food is not good, per my separate review on that), and the prices are quite reasonable. That said, do not expect much beyond that...the rooms are pretty bare-bones when it comes to amenities, and the artistic, cosmopolitan finishes belie the fact that the rooms seem to be done a bit on the cheap. Certainly not a bad place to stay if you are coming into town via train, but with a rental car, I would look around for other choices first. read more
