I've been eyeing this new Accutron Spaceview 2020 watch for a bit but there are only a small number of authorized dealers in the US. Since I was going to be in New Orleans, I'd thought I'd check it out in person at Adler's before ordering it direct online. I was helped by Anita. Wonderful person. Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Next thing you know, I own the watch. Great price and service. She even text me to make sure everything was ok once I got home. Hesitated to write a review and instead called and spoke to Coleman Adler. His response (or whatever it was) prompted this review, which they obviously don't care about. I went in to the Canal St store today, and was met by a security guard who had a mask down around his neck... as in, not covering his nose or mouth. He continued to speak to me without putting on his mask, ordering me to sign in while standing very close to me. I asked him to put his own mask on, and he said, "I just took it off." Hmm. That makes sense!! Again, I asked him to put his mask on, as he was standing within two feet of me and speaking directly into my face while inside the store. He mocked me. He REFUSED to put his mask on. I left. Called Coleman Adler, who said, "I'm looking at him right now and he has his mask on." No apology, nothing. Personally, if my name is on the building, I'd take more stock in who is literally representing MY century-old family business, especially to new customers, some with lots of money to spend. And I know 3/4 of the reviewers on Yelp say they were "planning to spend a lot of money!" so I won't go down that road. Just go Jack Sutton and ask for Liz. Haha Point is, retail is struggling across the board. Customer service is more important than ever. And people can shop anywhere they want, regardless of whether they have $100 to spend or (in some cases) $100,000. It's SO much easier to point and click and get free overnight shipping these days. We no longer even bother to check with them when looking for jewelry, fine china, etc. There are too many other options in the New Orleans area which actually seem to welcome, not just begrudgingly put up with, our inquiries and purchases. read more

I walked into Adler's with my husband's broken Rolex. I had no appointment and have never purchased anything at the store. They graciously fixed my watch within 15 minutes and refused any charge. They have a large selection of china, silver and crystal in stock and available to look at. The store is in an old building and has several floors. It is truly a unique experience to peruse all floors. Their jewelry selection on the main floor is top notch. They stock various high end pieces including being a Rolex authorized distributor. A New Orleans institution; Adler's has been around since 1898. They are the go to fancy jewelry store for many New Orleanians. I wish that I could say that I shop here all the time. But finances don't allow it, plus I'm just not they type to be dripping in gemstones. But I love the New Orleans themed "boutique" jewelry as well as Chesley Adler's pieces. I have to say, I was incredibly disappointed by the service that I received at Adlers. I should note that I was there to have a custom wedding band made (I've never bought anything from the store, though the jewelry looks nice). I read on Yelp before I went that another person went to Adlers to get a custom piece done. I was hoping that my experience would be different as it was my engagement ring/wedding band and jewelers typically know that they shouldn't mess with a girl and her diamond ring. However, I was sorely mistaken. When I went in, I had a very clear idea of what I wanted for my wedding band, though it seemed to take forever to make that clear to the woman I was speaking to. I let that blow over, because it's possible I wasn't being clear. Upon leaving, I had to leave my engagement ring with the store so the designer could look at it. I was told that I would be able to come pick it up on Friday or Saturday (I dropped it off on a Thursday). On Monday, I hadn't heard anything and was getting worried (again, I'm a bride and they have my engagement ring) so I emailed the woman I'd been working with - nothing. So, on Tuesday I called and said that I was coming to get my ring. When I showed up, the lady told me that the designer said he couldn't create the ring that I wanted (if she already knew that, why hadn't she called?) and that she would contact some of the other designers that they work with. Welp, it's been two months since I last spoke to her. I've emailed a number of times to see if she's found someone and haven't received a response. Apparently, their business is thriving well enough to provide terrible customer service and not worry about it. Since then, I've found a jewelry store that is happy to have my business. read more

This has been a two year story of all things awesome. My fiancé went searching for a ring in 2020. He knew exactly what he wanted-an oval cut emerald...NOT a diamond. He immediately ran into an issue whereby every single generic jewelry store either told him he was wrong ("nononono you want an emerald cut diamond!") or that what he was asking for was too costly, complicated, etc. He asked around and was recommended to Adam, who works at Adlers. Adam not only listened, but also made the process fun, easy and economically transparent (so I'm told). He also didn't push my fiancé into buying the first emerald they brought in from different states...but waited until my fiancé knew he found the right stones. Once they found the stones, they then helped him design the ring. Again, my fiancé wasn't pushed into the fanciest, tackiest ring design, and Adam listened to what he wanted-a timeless, classy ring. The end result is astounding-an engagement ring that is beautiful and one of a kind. But the story doesn't stop there. After our engagement, I went back to Adlers this January to talk about wedding bands. Without knowing who Adam was, I went up to the salesman to introduced myself...who happened by coincidence to be Adam. Before I could say my name, he immediately knew who I was simply by looking at my engagement ring he helped make happen 1.5 years prior. We then talked about wedding bands. I wanted a simple band to go with my ring, and I had stones from my mother's ring that I wanted to incorporate. Adam listened to exactly what I wanted and had a sketch of the band created (and how it would look with the engagement ring) within a week. A very short time later, I came back to Adlers for my band...and was astounded: it was absolutely gorgeous. I am thrilled. Not only that, but the price was extraordinarily reasonable for such a unique piece. I cannot express how, quite frankly, JUBILANT I feel about my engagement ring and band. It will be on my finger for LIFE so the fact that not only was the process easy (and fun) but was also a success right off the bat, is truly astounding. To top off the thrill, Adam had my engagement ring cleaned right there and then so I could see how well both rings worked together at their finest. Thank you Adam!!! read more

My husband and I are one week away from celebrating our first wedding anniversary. The modern day gift for your first wedding anniversary is a watch; something my husband has been wanting for a couple months now. I'm in NOLA for work, my hubby flew down here to visit me. We went to this store because on the Tag website we saw that this store sells Tag watches. Customer service is extremely important to me and let me tell you, Hiroko Schmitt is the absolute best at it. She treated us so well. She took amazing care of us and showed us a ton of watches and explained each watch to us. You can tell that she loves her job and sincerely cared about us. Less than an hour later my husband was walking out of the store with a new watch and a huge smile on his face. Thank you so much Mrs. Schmitt! (We went to a Tag store in NYC, where we both live. The people there judged us hard core and didn't take us seriously when we were looking at watches. Horrible experience there, the exact opposite of what we had here!) read more

I'm going to start this review with the disclaimer that for the jewelry and fine china and crystal Adler's is the go-to place in New Orleans. They have a fabulous selection of items and very good customer service, which all in all I would give about 4 to 4.5 stars. However, what knocks down this rating is the experience that I had with them regarding a custom jewelry design. I made a special trip to the store while I was in town for a friend's wedding to meet with them regarding a loose stone that I wanted to have a piece designed around. But this wasn't just any stone - it had huge sentimental value. My dad had bought it for me when I was a baby, and my parents wanted to have it made into something special for me in honor of my 25th birthday. I explained this back story to the woman who was helping me and my mom, who at the time, was very attentive and answered all of our questions. But then things went downhill from there. She promised a sketch of the design, but it never arrived when she said it would. After some telestalking, I was finally able to get a hold of her, and she eventually sent the fax over. Then I had some follow-up questions. Again, she was incredibly difficult to get a hold of, and by that point, I was so frustrated with her flakiness that I told my mom to go back and get the stone after a month of getting no answers. When my mom returned to Adler's to get the stone back, the woman was quite sheepish and actually was reluctant to give it back, promising that they were going to work on the design pronto. Of course, my mom saw that she was grasping for straws to not lose the sale, and she still asked for the stone back and it made its way safely back to San Francisco. In spite of this experience, I still plan to be an Adler's customer and would tell people to do the same for the jewelry, china, etc., but for custom design work, I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

My experience at Adler's is limited to their Pandora bracelet collection. I try to pick up new charms when I am travelling and since NOLA is a constant destination for me, I have been here a few times. The Pandora section is in the back and there is one person that is dedicated to helping you. I've always had a good experience with this section of Adler's. There are always an abundance of sales people on the floor and everyone is very friendly and helpful. I noticed that they do sometimes have a security guard posted at the front door. That may creep some people out but since the location is on the very busy Canal Street unless you're an idiot and flaunt your purchases, I can't imagine you'd have any reason to worry. I'd definitely continue to come here when I visit and Adler's will be my go-to jewelry spot once I move to NOLA. read more

I can't say enough bad things about this place. I first went to the Adlers on Royal and they were so rude. They have no idea that I could actually buy the whole store. So, then I went to the one on Canal Street. Might I just ad here that when I walked in I could tell that I was bothering them just being in there. It took weeks and several emails and calls to get the appraisal done. When It finally came, there was no weight of the piece, no mention the stones were damnaged. Whenever I'm in New Orleans, I stop by Adler's. Their selection of jewelry is swoon-worthy and I've found so many great, unique wedding gifts there (every New Orleans resident should have a set of Galatoire's gumbo spoons). Each time I go in the service has been attentive without being overbearing (I hate feeling watched while I peruse) and the one time I had to make a return it was easy and hassle-free. Sure, Adler's has been around since the late 1800's. Sure, many established NOLA families, institutions, and people will tell you they only shop at Adler's. My advice - NEVER GO HERE. The customer service is terrible. T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E. I never write reviews, and truly feel obligated to direct you elsewhere. My wife and I unfortunately registered here, and after graciously recieving many registry credits to Adler's, we realized that you can only use the credit on flatware and tableware - not jewelry. Fine. I point this out for info, not b/c i expected to buy diamond watches with our credits. Dealing with this place was miserable from the start. After parking my car and walking in, the greeters downstairs did not even look up from the magainze they were reading. I asked where to go to find my wife, who was already looking at tableware. The lady behind the desk pointed upstairs without saying a word. Laughing at the absence of acknowledgement, I walked on. The place itself looks run down and like it is from the 1980's - the computers they use are at least 15 years old, the rugs and walls look awful. After going through and telling the store what we wanted - which took 1.5 hrs bc we were constantly waiting for the assistant to plug our info into the 15 year old computer, which took forever to load each line item - we waited the 6 weeks they told us too for our things to come in. I finally called 7 weeks later for an update, and was told they would call me back, giving no reason at all why they couldn't answer if our package was in or not. Fine. Please check into what is going on and let me know when you are more informed. A week later I called and kindly asked again what was going on. "There was a mix-up, we will call you when it comes in." No idea whent that might be or apology was given. We finally were able to pick up half our order and are still waiting on the other. Yes, Adler's has fine jewelry and plenty to choose from when it comes to China/plates/table/flat ware. And you will eventually get them once you order from the store. However, I can say with a strong passion that this place is not worth your time - the customer service and total experiencewas that bad. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

Bad bad bad customer service I don't know how they are still in business. This is my second bad experience at Adler's on Canal Street. They were much better when they were on Royal Street. I went in to purchase a porcelain box advertised in the local newspaper. The blonde woman at the front counter asked if I needed assistance I asked about the box, halfway through my question she cut me off and told me "in the back room" then proceeded to turn her face. I was also interested in a Movado watch but as I said My inquiry was cut off. I figured I would purchase it through the sales for soon who sold me the box. however I was ignored while trying to get the porcelain box. I walked out without purchasing a thing. There were 3 other people waiting being ignored by the staff. There are other jewelry stores in the area to patron that provide better customer service. My boyfriend recently had my engagement ring made at Adler's because they were known as the premier jeweler in the city and he wanted to make sure that he went to someone who would really take care of the ring, especially since he was using an old family stone that means a lot to him. I have to say that the ring is beautiful but the service was awful. First, it took weeks longer to get him the ring back than they told him when he dropped the diamond off, which threw off his plans for proposing (we were travelling to visit friends and he had wanted to do it before then.) Also, they neither weighed the diamond before putting it in the custom setting nor did they suggest he should get it appraised. Admittedly he probably should have asked for the appraisal but fine jewelry is their business so even if he didn't think of it, they definitely should have known to suggest it. Then, when I brought the ring back to get appraised, not only did the appraiser have to approximate the weight of the diamond (he was really apologetic about it though) but they again kept the ring significantly longer than promised (a week and a half instead of 2 days). Finally, when I dropped off my ring for the appraisal, the sales lady went out of her way to explain how she had picked out the setting and designed the ring. This seriously bothered my boyfriend who insists that not only did he pick out the setting but also had to argue with her about his choices (I only wear yellow gold and she apparently was confident in his decision about that.) However, even if she had picked it out, the comments were completely unprofessional and uncalled for and she should have known better given that she works with brides on a daily basis. Who wants to be told that a complete stranger picked out their ring?? I feel incredibly whiny writing this review but we used Adler's (and paid the price for it) specifically because they're supposed to be the best and I think it's a fair assumption that when you're talking about a fine jeweler, customer service comes with that. The one person who was incredible though was Anita. We brought my ring in to get sized on the weekend and while the appraiser wasn't there so I had to come back later for that, she made sure they sized my ring that day and that I got it back within 2 hours. read more

Went there on Saturday, Nov 30th to get a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law. My brother and I arrived 9 minutes before the store opened and decided to wait. After a couple of minutes, a lady with a very sour face opened the door to let someone out (family member of an employee???). She quickly relocked the door as if we were going to rush in and rob the place. In fact, we were patiently standing outside, admiring the items in the window. BUT...it would have been nice if she would have looked at us and said "we are still getting set up and will be open in just a few more minutes." Since she couldn't get the door locked back fast enough and gave us no eye contact what-so-ever, we opted to find another place to do business with and left. We found there are other nice jewelry stores nearby and spent over $500 on a gift within the hour. Their loss. Don't go there is you expect to be treated like a valuable consumer. read more

I wish I had never registered at Adler's. When I got married my mother insisted I pick out some pieces here as older wedding guests prefer to shop here. I'm now rushing to use up my remaining credit because the customer service is so poor, I'm afraid they're about to close. I ordered some China and it took forever to come in and I had to contact the store several times to check on the status of the order. I recently ordered a silver chest with some credit. I was told it was take two weeks to arrive. Those weeks passed and I contacted the store. They told me the company that makes the chest has been bought by another company. I can order the same chest but in a different wood finish. Fine. I order it and am told it'll be in in a week. Three weeks have now passed since that time. I have emailed and called and have heard nothing. I still have credit at this store and don't know what to do. I don't want to go through the hassle of doing anything else with them. Adler's has taken a significant decline since their days of the past. read more

DO NOT EVER TAKE YOUR WATCH HERE FOR REPAIR! I took my $700 Movado (a nice watch, but not a Rolex). The watch has sentimental value to me, so I was willing to pay the $300 service. First, they can't be more cagey or rude here. When the watch came back from a "full service" after 3 weeks, Adler's refused to provide any verification that the service was performed by Movado (even though this was affirmed pre/post tender). Laura claimed the watch just comes back in a "bag" with no Movado certification. One (1) month after the full service, the watch stopped. I took it back and they sent it out again. Three (3) weeks later, the watch came back again. It has continued to work, but the new gold hands they replaced (I expressly paid for this), are tarnishing after six (6) months. This means either they replaced the hands with something less than gold, or the "full service" didn't seal the watch. In sum, DO NOT SUPPORT THIS PLACE. The only adjective to describe this operation is "shady" (and physically "musty"). I still do not believe they ever sent my Movado to Moavdo for repair. To this end, they could never verify that Movado actually handled my service. If you care about your timepiece, drive to another city and take it to Tourneau or another reputable watch repair dealer. read more

Wish I could say I had a better experience with Adler's, but unfortunately I did not. My fiance purchased my engagement ring from Adler's and asked for it to be engraved. They couldn't get the engraving done before his planned proposal date so he told them he would bring it back after proposing. So a few weeks after proposing he took my ring back to Adler's to be engraved and to have a few minor changes made (most significantly round the edges of the ring...they were very square). After TWO WEEKS we still did not have my ring back, despite several phone calls, emails and two trips to the store. None of the minor changes were made and the engraving is terrible. Very very disappointed in the customer service and with the quality of the work. We purchased a very pricey ring and feel it should have been perfect at the time of purchase. We will not be buying our wedding bands from Adler's and sadly will probably not make any future purchases from this store. read more
