I was checking out BioLife on May 14th, told has to be 7 days from last visit to CLS was May 11th, told to return on May 18th. Spent 3+ hours becoming a new member at BioLife, after the full exam, getting drained and told to return on Wednesday 20th as that would be 2nd in 7 days. I return to BioLife on 20th, told I'm still popping up in system at CLS, so return on 22nd today. Now, told that because I have popped up 2 times as another center, I'm band from BioLife for every!!! That's there rules, not anyone else's rules. So I have only gave plasma once in 7 days (Monday to Monday is 6 days) but, because I checked in on 20th and the 14th (gave nothing, no blood test or plasma), just checked IN, I CAN'T go to BioLife Plasma every again! That's just dumb! All because there STAFF us not trained properly. Spoke with manager stephanie , and she apologizes and says we'll train her people!

Rude, unprofessional, condescending and highly embarrassing....all because I told the truth…read more I spent all morning making sure I gathered documents, ate well and hydrated. Then drove almost 45 minutes to Kennesaw, where I encountered 'Mykala' at the check-in desk. She scrutinized my Social Security card as if it weren't real, (I am almost 60 and my mother allowed me to sign my card as a 4 year old), then when I was honest about the fact that I had just entered a Domestic Violence Shelter, but the address on my license was valid and my LEGAL address, where I receive mail, she was rude and condescending and rolled her eyes at me. She brought two other colleagues to the desk, and they abruptly told me I was not eligible to donate. They further pushed the issue by asking me to divulge the address of the shelter. I responded that I could not do that for safety reasons and furthermore, it's illegal to ask me that. They then asked if I was part of the 'Safe at Home' program. Again....not appropriate and illegal to ask me in front of everyone standing in line. Despite me having plenty of documentation to prove my LEGAL ADDRESS, I was turned away. Women at the shelter are encouraged to donate plasma as a way to supplement our income while escaping our abusers and looking for employment. When I tried to explain this to them, I was curtly asked what the names of the women in the shelter were? Again, not appropriate and illegal to ask. When I refused to give them this information and stated that it was illegal for me to divulge those names, the lady that took over for 'Mykayla' was incredibly rude and said [verbatim], "That's right, you tell them that if I find out who they are, I will defer them from the program!" For someone that is experiencing this set of circumstances, these three women managed to make a bad situation even worse. And in front of everyone. I suppose I should have LIED. What a waste of what little resources I had. I also should have read these reviews. It appears as though this is standard practice for this location. EDIT: On Saturday (April 5th, 2026, I received an email from BioLife telling me I 'missed my appointment', and please call to reschedule. I subsequently received two texts telling me that I missed my appointment and also asking me to reschedule. Oh the irony! Upon further investigation, they also have an extremely low rating on two other review sites, multiple BBB filings and a lawsuit that was filed in February of 2026. Do your research everyone! Steer clear of this company at all costs!

Unfortunately, it was even worse. When I politely asked if I could donate while seated, explaining that lying down made me uncomfortable, the staff not only refused my request but also spoke to me in a hostile and condescending manner. In front of other donors in the lobby, I was questioned aggressively about why I didn't want to lay down, making me feel embarrassed and unwelcome. I had come in willing and ready to donate, simply asking for a basic adjustment to make the process more comfortable. Instead, I was treated rudely and left feeling like I was a burden for even asking. This is not the way donors should be treated -- especially when Red Cross constantly stresses how urgently they need blood donations. This experience makes me wonder how many willing donors are turned away not because they can't donate, but because they are treated with so little understanding and professionalism. Very disappointing.

For my third time donating platelets, I wanted to check out LifeSouth's Northeast Georgia Center in…read moreGainesville, which is actually much closer to my house than the Greater Atlanta Center in Dunwoody (18 miles north vs. 34 miles south). After you donate at least once to LifeSouth, an employee will call you at least once a month to see if you can make time to come in to donate again. Since there is a high demand for platelets yet a small number of willing donors, they want regular donors to be able to supply blood and blood components to local hospitals in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. According to LifeSouth's website, "Platelets help patients with bleeding disorders caused by leukemia and cancer treatment, or open-heart surgery." This time, I made a 10 am appointment for a Monday for me and my sister (Yoomee H.) to donate platelets. I specifically wanted us to have the same time slot so that we could start and end around the same time. Unfortunately, things did not occur as planned for my third time donating platelets... We arrived a couple minutes before 10 am, and we were checked in by a very friendly woman at the front desk. She told us that they were happy yet surprised to have us there to donate platelets because they "weren't expecting us," even though I had made the appointment the previous week. To make a very, VERY long story short, we both waited over an hour before we were able to even have our initial blood test and interview, which must be done every time before you donate blood, platelets, or other blood components. After we finally had our interviews, we had to wait another hour or so to get started with the donation process. This was incredibly frustrating. When we checked in, we were warned that they were understaffed that day, but they did not indicate that we would have to wait THAT long! The phlebotomist who performed the platelet collection on both me and my sister was very sweet, but it was obvious that she was incredibly flustered about being the only person taking care of us as well as a whole blood donor. She had difficulty locating the vein in my left arm, which I usually have the donation done through, and even punctured it in the wrong spot. So eventually, she drew the donation through my right arm - and both of my arms had to be bandaged at the end. =( Arghhh... Like the donor center in Dunwoody, the platelet donor seats are pretty comfortable, they provide you with a blanket and heating pad under your arm (because it gets cold), and you get your own TV and remote to occupy your time. And unlike the Dunwoody center, this one has a decent library of DVDs if you want to watch a movie while you're donating, or you can bring your own! I picked a DVD to watch, but the phlebotomist forgot to turn mine on for me. Fortunately, I brought a book to read while I was donating for about an hour and a half. Overall, this LifeSouth Community Blood Center gets 2.5 stars - minus 2.5 stars for the ridiculously long wait to even get started because they were so understaffed. I was not happy that I had to spend over 4 hours at the donor center and get punctured in both arms. I have to mention, however, that the staff was super friendly, welcoming, and apologetic, and I really appreciated this. Although they assured us that they usually don't operate this way, I'm sorry to say that I simply can't bring myself to return to this location. I will drive further to the Dunwoody location, which is the main location in Atlanta, for my future donations to LifeSouth. [Review 107 of 366]

They interviewed me and I told them about a disorder I have that can make you pass out during things like this. They sat me down and found the proper vein very quickly. Once I came back I was covered in ice packs and the entire staff was around me seeing if I was okay. They handled the situation so well, I was impressed. They had me sit and wait to leave for about an hour so that I wouldn't faint on the way home. Great job lifesouth Gainesville!

I thought it would be fine because I had given so many times without a problem, but it wasn't fine. I suddenly started feeling very hot and dizzy and sick. I called out to Paige who immediately stopped what she was doing and calmly came over to me and started to put my feet up and ice packs on me to cool me down. She was very calm talking to me and very sweet. She realized that I wasn't calming down and had Michelle (a nurse) come out and start working to cool me down and calm me down. Michelle calmly explained what was going on and that I should start cooling off very soon. They both stayed right there talking to me and reassuring me until my blood and fluids went in and I was better. It was a very scary situation that was made better by two very professional and supportive people. Michelle even called first thing the next morning to check on me and make sure that I was doing ok. I have been back since without issue (because I now know to go well fed and hydrated) but will forever know that if an issue does arise I will be well taken care of. I can't say enough about the staff at the Anniston center and how well trained and nice everyone is.
