I do not know about you but my child gets rewarded for having a good week and getting 100% on his tests, but what kind of reward is it when it is not until the following week? There are simple ways to solve the schools short comings but it is if they truly want to; 1. Update and continuously update your website (i.e. calendar, teacher lists, events...) 2. Have an online classroom for parents to look at to make sure their child is doing the homework and has their daily/weekly progress reports (FOR ALL GRADES!). This would alleviate sooo much miscommunication between teacher and parents. (i.e. homework online used for online access to homework assignments, study materials and lesson notes and a parent portal that provides parents access to student attendance, progress reports, and report cards). Today our society is technologically savvy and so are the kids, why not keep up and in the process help the kids? Maybe if they did these updates there school might raise from a 6 on greatschool.com to maybe an 8 or 9.

We originally had my daughter enrolled in two different private schools that accepted her. We couldn't make up our mind on sending her to these really expensive schools. Of course, any parent wants their children to have the best education and that's all we strived for. It was a big dip in our bank account, we felt it was worth it. Nearing the end of summer, we backed down. We remembered how tough it was having both our children on different schedules. Our daughter was in Kamehameha preschool and our son at Royal Elementary (public school). We struggled finding someone to babysit for two different schedules. Yes, private schools do have more "off days". On days that we couldn't find a sitter, we would have our daycare as our back up. Being that private school this year was literally 3/4 our savings, we didn't think we had cushion to constantly send the kids to daycare if we couldn't find a babysitter. So we made the decision to have her in the same school as brother who is in enrolled in SPED. Our fears of robbing our child's education began. She didn't have as much homework as Kamehameha Preschools gave out, which may be a thumbs up for most parents. I actually enjoyed homework time with her. But we still do other things to make up for it. I do see a small decline in her academic interest but, were working on getting her back up. We can't rely solely on the school. The big 5 star review goes out to my sons SPED Preschool class: Ms. Angela and his teacher aide, Vanessa! Amazing, amazing, amazing people with beautiful souls! They truly do their best to help improve all my sons needs! It's been maybe a month in school and my boy is improving so much. I owe it all to these awesome ladies and his therapists! I warned them of my sons lack of immunity due to his condition, and they amaze me at how prepared they are. They sanitize everything a child touches and cleanliness is a must in this class. This schools SPED preschool was actually full at the time of admission, however, due to some personal issues with another school, the principal at this school accepted my son! I can see why their program was full. I plan to keep my son at this school for all his elementary days. So impressed with the quality of care. I almost cringe at the thought of him entering another classroom. I admire these women for all they are. His teacher, Ms.Angela has an app called Bloomz that allows us to message her about our son and she sends us updates as often as she can. She does her best to do daily updates but we don't expect that as she is a busy lady herself. She shows that she really loves what she does and has a passion for it. These are the teachers that deserve the best pay raise ever! If I was her boss, hands down.. her salary would double! Thank you ladies! Thank you Pearl Harbor for accepting my kids on such short notice!

We started coming here for the recreational space that this school provides…read more Graciously, they leave the gates open so that the kids can play on the playground and climb the rope web. playground has two slides, one big and one small, a monkey bars, and a zip line. the padding is a light foam which helps when the kids fall. the closest basketball courts have no nets so you need to walk around to the park side to play. there are water fountains, a bathroom and seating area nearby too definitely one of our fave parks to come to

It probably fits about 200-300 people. Not that we had that much people at the party. Kids are free to run around and exaust all energies. They have an audio system which you are able to use. There's lots of parking, and if you run out of parking you can double park. You don't need to hire an off duty police officer, I think because NO ALCOHOL IS ALLOWED!!! They do recquire a deposit of $800.00, but if there are no damages and everything is left the way it was, the check doesn't get cashed. Great for graduation parties, birthday parties.

At the beginning of the Covid, they decided to go with the very controversial online platform called Acellus which included racial and biased information not appropriate for learning, and Pearl Harbor Kai did nothing but to keep using it although other nearby schools immediately decided to drop the program. The principal at that time had no intention to listen to concerned parents, but now he is promoted to some position at DOE. How bright is Hawaii's DOE future? I can say there are a few wonderful teachers there if your child get lucky. Unfortunately, my child never had that luck and he was assigned the most notorious teacher that is known to yell and scream hysterically beyond being strict two years in a row. When I confronted, Principal and VP said they never heard anyone complain about that teacher nor heard her yell, which was flat out lie. I know of more than two hands full of families who left the school to homeschool, avoided the school and chose private school path because of the teacher. Unacceptable behaviors such as placing kids outside the classroom the whole afternoon, publicly shaming students, to name a few. A former student who had her said she still had nightmare about that teacher. She should retire for the sake of all the students there. Too sad the only way to get your child a safe, non-yelling environment, is to withdraw from that school and pay for a private school in Hawaii? I was warned about Hawaii public school correct.

Very clean, well organized and the staff from teachers, custodians, educational assistants & administrative operations, do an excellent job in making this school a blue ribbon school. Every morning & afternoon, various staff help to load & unload the children in & out of the vehicles at drop off & pick up. Organized and so much safer for everyone! The curriculum more than meets the standard, in fact it surpasses it. With having had experience at the rival school, Momilani Elem. in Pearl City, I feel that Mililani Mauka is better prepared to teach all children, wether your child excels or is the average child. You don't sense favoritism or prejudice. Everyone is treated equally. And each staff member involved with your child is attentive and caring towards them and their needs. I can go on and on, but I'll stop here. This is a top school and my children are happy here and are proud to attend this school!!
