Disappointed with my experience…read more About a year ago, I paid $170 through the school's website for a driving practice session. The session lasted only about 1 to 1.5 hours. We drove around, the instructor gave me some tips for the road test, and we went to the area where the road test takes place. I did not take the road test that day. I was surprised by the $170 charge because I felt it was a very high price for the service I received. I would appreciate an explanation from the school regarding why I was charged $170 for this service and what exactly the charge included. I recommend that anyone considering this school confirm the exact price and all included services before making a payment.

I do not even know how to express my frustration with this sad excuse for a driving school. I could…read moretalk about the classes themselves, but I can't; I never got to join them. The first time I signed up, I was told I would receive a Zoom link for the online classes. That link never came, and I was dropped from the class. I then decided to contact Sam's Driving School to let them know about their mistake. In the end, the very rude lady I spoke with on the phone refused to give me a refund, so as a "compromise," my classes were just rescheduled. Today (6/29/2026) was supposed to be the start of classes once again. I have the link, I join the class, and I happily wait. The camera on my laptop wasn't working. I tried everything I could-and I mean everything to turn my camera on. Panic ruptures throughout my body; the host tells me I will be dropped from the course (AGAIN) if my camera is not on. In the end, I was not able to get my camera working. Later, I discuss the whole ordeal with my sister, who then checks Sam's Driving School's policies. On the website, there is a section that goes over what could get a student dropped from a class- lo and behold, nowhere does it say having your camera off is an offense. Sam's Driving School is lazy, sketchy, and pathetic. Never in a million years would I ever recommend this hog house to anyone.

Called the office to explain exactly the driving skills we wanted the instructor to focus on and asked them to note that with the instructor. We arrived early at the Bethesda office. Office was closed with a sign saying their instructors will meet you there if you have a scheduled lesson. When the lesson time came and went, I called the first posted phone number, which was out of service. Not a good sign. The second number was answered, and we were then contacted by the instructor who had parked on the street outside -- the first of multiple communication issues. The instructor had no idea why we had scheduled a lesson. Compared to "the competition" in our area (the one with ex-cops, which we previously used), the instructor was unfriendly and unwelcoming --- not a good thing with a new, un-confident driver. After the lesson, my daughter told me that the instructor hardly gave her feedback while she was driving, gave her turn and other directions at the last second, and told her to slow down instead of speeding up to be closer to highway speed when she was merging onto the highway. When she first entered the car, the instructor was playing loud talk-radio. When my daughter asked if he could turn it off (at least she had the sense not to be playing talk-radio during a driving lesson); he turned it down, not off, until she asked again. I don't expect miracles from a driving school, but we know from experience that Habesha's service and professionalism was far below the competition.

Its entrance faced to the parking lots from the Mr. Tire Auto Service Centers. After signing in on paper sheet, the driving coach Dan was there soon after. He was nice and explained everything needed to do clearly during the drive. He was very helpful during the drive and talked a lot about rules or driving in general. After returning to the office, was led to the computers where the grading process was done quickly. He gave helpful feedback about what needed to improve and important things to know about the actual driving test. He also answered all questions well and the whole process took no more than five minutes.

They "earned" a BAD REVIEW for a reason. (FYI calling their HQ won't help)…read more I had scheduled a 4:30 pm appointment today and they called me 45 mins prior to the appointment, and told me that the instructor would be 15 minutes late. So l asked whether I would lose time, because they book lessons back to back. And the lady on the phone said there's no policy addressing lost time on the side of the school. She then told me to talk to the driver directly. I called at 4:03 pm when I arrived since no one was there to open the door. So I called their number (301-882-8000) and someone called an employee named MATT said he is related to the HQ and he could answer my questions. I asked about the company policy for paying back time to the student that they owed. And his response was "DO YOU REALLY CARE ABOUT THAT 15 mins?" So I asked the same question, if the company does not care about the 15 mins, why can't they give that back with more time or money? This is just hypocritical, because their business model is they charge their customers based on time. So it is ok for the clients to "absorb the loss" when the business can't deliver their service, but not vice versa?!?! How is that professional?! So l asked to speak to customer service and MATT said their customer service is already off for the day. Oh yeah? According to their webpage, their operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. Meanwhile, the phone call happened between 4:03 pm and 4:07 pm. So that means, MATT LIED to shut the customer up, or they don't update their websites with proper operating hours. ** The instructor arrived at 4:44 pm and I asked them about the time we lost. He said he could not give the 15 mins back due to a class afterwards BECAUSE "it is not fair for the student". So l asked how is it fair for me to lose that 15 mins? Then the driver said he would need to get a "clear" from customer services/ HQ. And he cannot do it without a yes from them. In other words, if MATT had indeed been related to their HQ and customer service, he should have been in a position to give permission to the driver for paying back that 15 mins to a client. Like I said, they earned a bad Yelp review for a reason. I should have listened to the ones that I had seen previously. And I am glad that I didn't sign up for their additional 30-hour classes. I rarely leave a bad review but this one is an "exceptional" circumstance. Good luck to anyone looking for a driving school. Choose any business BUT this one!!! -------------------------------------- ** (One of the parents who was a witness told me that they signed up for the 30 hour package. She said they do work PAST normal business hours, for example they have drivers teach from 6 to 9 pm on weekdays. And they work on Sundays too at noon!!) So they do treat their clients differently! ------------------------------------------

For the Kentlands Location :)…read more My search for a driving school all began when I found out we were having a Son. My goal was to be helpful to my wife but also become more mobile in case we needed things in the needed things in the future or to take her to the hospital when the time comes. I had searched many different ones in the area and came across Action Driving School. I did extensive research checking Greg's as well as Charlie's, however they are very competitive so they always ask when you call what you saw online with other driving schools and try to match the price. I paid for the 16-hour package where others would only give you a 10-hour package for the same price. Already you are getting better value for your money here an Action Driving School. I am always one to not judge a book by its cover as most driving schools that are not the main ones like Greg's are small yet impactful. That is the case here with the Kentlands location of action Driving School. It is located inside of a building that shares another office across the hall. The classroom is a decent size for when physical classroom is needed, however they offer Zoom for the driver Education classes. I did not use them for driver education classes but I did use them for on-road sessions. They have several instructors that are really knowledgeable and friendly. I say don't judge a book by its cover because if you go based purely off the location and space it's not as impressive as some of the others, but where Action Driving School truly shines and separates themselves from other driving schools is simple; they actually care and want you to succeed and be a safe driver on the road! For this location in particular as they do have a Silver Spring Office as well, you can really tell the instructors take pride in helping you to be the best driver you can be one lesson at a time. They have a few nice receptionists that rotate shifts, as well as a few instructors Ms. Cathy, Ms. Mary, Jhon, the latter of which is who you will be with when when you go to take your road test. They also offer car rental for $130 which includes a bit of practice before your road test (I highly recommend this option) the MVA knows that Action Driving School means business, so they make sure everything is good to go for when you are taking the test. They instructor also inspects the car and ensures it has enough gas and that the check engine light is not on. This is a great option for people who do not have their own vehicle to take the road test or that do not have a vehicle that is up to par for taking the test. They teach you many lessons that will stick with you as they did with me throughout your time here. You will learn the rules of the road, safe maneuvers such as double checking your blind spots for traffic before entering a new road, as well as parking. Depending on the package you choose they coordinate with you on scheduling and they will text you confirmations most times. The only thing I wished they did was email, you have to write things down or remember to check your texts messages. I really appreciate it the calmness of all the instructors, time as well as patience. Ms. Cathy also got me on the highway in one of my sessions, this can be scary for new drivers but also much needed! Ms. Mary was helpful as well with certain maneuvers during my session with her. Jhon was great both in our on-road sessions as well as with the car rental and road tests experience. I failed a few times at first, but that was due to nerves. Once I got it together I passed my road test and felt not only better that I had passed but more knowledgeable about being a safe driver on the road. Money spent does not always equal in quality of experience. That is where Action Driving School is a Hidden Gem, because you get more value for your money and I feel a more personalized experience during your time here. You definitely cannot go wrong choosing Action Driving School because I feel you will not only grow as a person pushing yourself to do better and be better but most importantly and the reason you are here: you will be a better driver on the road keeping both yourself and everyone around you safer by knowing how to handle certain situations with patience and grace. There were several instances where things could have went wrong but with the guidance of these wonderful instructors they are small things. Such as someone taking your turn at a four-way stop or someone honking at you for going too slow but they don't see that as student driver is in front of you and if you go any faster you would hit them. These are the type of real world situations I found myself in but that we navigated expertly with the help of the great instructors here.
