It wasn't because I hadn't tried. In fact, I had poured myself into every resource that I had thought would help. I went to office hours almost every day. I attended TA sessions religiously. And I sat through Angela's classes, clinging to the idea that she had the "secret" to succeeding in law school. But the results simply weren't there. I was exhausted, discouraged, and starting to believe maybe I just wasn't cut out for this. Angela's program was marketed as a "masterplan," but it turned out to be nothing more than recycled, surface-level advice wrapped in flashy branding. She charged thousands of dollars to tell students the same clichés you can hear at orientation or read in any free law school blog: make an outline, brief cases, condense notes. None of that was new, and none of it helped me actually perform on exams. The truth is, Angela never taught any substantive law--ever. Not once did she sit down and actually explain a doctrine, rule, or principle in Contracts, Torts, or Criminal Law. She sold the illusion of a plan but gave nothing but empty strategies. It was a $3,000 pep talk. And that's why my grades didn't improve. Outlining the way she prescribed left me with binders of notes but no better understanding of how to solve an exam question. Her program was all busy work and no substance. It looked impressive, but it was hollow. I walked away from her "masterplan" with nothing but a thinner wallet and the sinking realization that I still didn't know how to succeed in law school. Then I met Brad, and the difference was night and day. Brad isn't a cheerleader or a strategist; he's a teacher. Every session, he actually lectures on substantive law. He breaks down complex doctrines into simple, understandable rules. For the first 20 to 30 minutes of each session, Brad teaches real content: blackletter law, key principles, and frameworks that matter on exams. He doesn't waste time with fluff. He teaches Constitutional Law, Property, and other core subjects directly, the way professors should but often don't. One moment that really crystallized the difference between Brad and my professors was when we were working through cases involving the Commerce Clause. In class, my professor would just gloss over the holdings and jump straight to hypotheticals, leaving us to fend for ourselves in understanding how it all tied together. But with Brad, we didn't just read cases; we unpacked them. He showed me how each decision reflected a broader battle over federalism, with the Court constantly shifting the line between federal and state power. Brad made sure that I understood not just what the Court held, but why it mattered--how each ruling either expanded or limited Congress's reach under the Commerce Clause and what that said about the structure of our government. He had me read entire cases--usually 60 to 80 pages long but for Sebelius, it was 190 pages!!!!--and he would highlight the key points, dissecting them until I understood what was happening, why the court reasoned the way it did, and how it fit into the broader doctrine. That kind of deep, rigorous engagement with the law is what finally made things click. It was the opposite of Angela's shortcuts; instead of pretending that there was a "hack" to law school, Brad made me do the work that actually builds mastery. The results were undeniable. In ConLaw and Property, two of the toughest classes in 1L, I earned solid A's. After a semester of nothing but B's, I had proven to myself that I could master these subjects when someone actually taught them to me. Brad also helped me realize that knowing the professor's quirks doesn't matter nearly as much as students think. The law doesn't change from professor to professor. Once you learn the doctrine and practice applying it, you can excel on any exam. By the end of my second semester, my transcript told a completely different story. I went from struggling to even get B's to earning A's, and that transformation gave me the chance to transfer from a T-20 law school to a T-10--an outcome I never would have imagined after my first semester. Looking back, the $3,000 I spent on Angela's so-called Masterplan was a waste. She never taught me a single rule of law. Brad, on the other hand, gave me exactly what I needed: real lectures, real substance, deep case work, and real results.
