Luck y for me it did, since the femoral artery is right there. In any case, the Team said.. Go see Tao Tan. I arrived. He was a short fat warm china man. He said, "You have cold body." You only take hot drinks while you recover." He popped the needles in, and I HATE needles, and I went to sleep for hours. He woke me up, rubbed his hands to build up Chi, and said, "I put energy into you brother" and he practically knocked me back when he laid his hands on my belly. It took 4 visits and 3-4 weeks of heat/cold and light PT, and I was back on the ski ramp. My knee has been solid ever since. So a few months later, I was on The Canyons SKi Patrol. We were doing pre-season maintenance and setup. Bumping around on an early season thin snow layer is hard on the joints. The rocks are just under the snow. THis is why the resort is not Open. Duh. Well the good thing is Ski Patrol and Maintenance crews get to ride the snowmobiles around, and we get to ski down if we want, the resort all to ourselves for a few weeks. The bad news is that it's rough on the body, and my wrists had had enough of it. I ended up with De Quervain's tenosynovitis in both wrists, so bad in fact that I could hardly drive a car, much less pick up a pint of beer! The docs were all agreed about cutting my arms open. They put me in a cast so I could travel back east for Thanksgiving, and then I was going under the knife. While back homein the Southeast, it dawned on me that I should go let Tao Tan have a look. 5 visits over a period of 3 weeks, and I was cured. I mean CURED. That was in 1998, and I STILL have practically no problems with my hands.. people who know me will agree I am very active, so there is no way I could still have that level of pain. For Master Lii, it's a solid 10…read more I've driven from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City for over two years just to see Master Lii, and every session with him has been calm, thoughtful, and genuinely healing. He explains what he's doing, speaks softly, and has a true gift for releasing pain and helping you relax so deeply you fall asleep on the table. The problem is his boss, "Dr" Sun. She routinely barges in, snaps at him in Mandarin, and shatters the peaceful environment he works so hard to create. During my last visit, after less than 20 minutes on the table, she stormed in multiple times complaining that he needed to get to other patients. He had just placed deep needles in my neck to treat severe headaches, and I slipped into a deep, therapeutic sleep. I woke up in sharp pain to find Dr Sun yanking needles out of my neck. I literally yelled, "What the F are you doing?" Master Lii has never caused pain removing needles; in a few seconds she destroyed the 30-40 minutes of careful work he'd done. Then she rushed me off the table, insisted my time was up (significantly short of the 45-60 minutes I've always had), and still made sure I paid for a session that left me worse than when I arrived. She's greedy. That's why she wanted me off the table, for another patient. She didn't care that I'd waited 30 minutes beyond *my* scheduled appointment. I later wrote her a letter expecting at least an apology or explanation. I got nothing. That silence tells you everything about how little she respects her patients or her own staff. Bottom line: Master Lii is an exceptional practitioner: calm, kind, skilled, and deeply respectful. "Dr" Sun is an angry, greedy owner whose interference actively harms the quality of care. If you go, insist on Master Lii and make it clear you do not want "Dr" Sun involved in your treatment. As much as I value his work, I won't be returning until he's in his own clinic--when that happens, I'll happily make the drive again.
