She responded to my review here on Yelp, personally left me a voice mail and reimbursed me for my co-pay just like she said she would. It was unfortunate that they couldn't provide the service desired but I believe she made up for it. DO NOT GO HERE! The front staff have no personality and are rude. You never see the same N.P. Dr. Cardenas is never there from what I have observed. No follow up when they tell you they will follow up. N.P. Virginia Gifford literally googled what a spot could be on my son's leg (I could do that, you're the professional). I had a few spots that I wanted checked out so I made an appointment. I ended up getting dressed in the exam room and leaving without being seen. I was in the waiting room for an hour past my arrival time. I waited 20 minutes in the exam room before peeking out and inquiring on the wait time. I was told another 20 minutes. So 1 hour and 40 minutes? If I was late for the appointment I would have been charged a fee.. I understand that delays happen throughout the day, but I feel the patient should be informed and updated about wait times. read more

I don't think it's acceptable to shame and constantly bring up a patients scaring during an appointment if that is not the reason for their appointment. During the last year, I've had 3 appointments in regards to a mole that changed shaped and concerns it was something more serious. Every time I saw Virginia Gifford and every time she just had to mention that I had acne scaring all over my face and "lots of it." It was very rude and demeaning. I thought she was trying to upsell me with laser treatment so I inquired about it, just to be told their laser treatments are not working and that I would have to be seen elsewhere. Then why bring up my scarring? She seemed more bothered with it than I did. I left with my self confidence in the toilet. Thanks. I will NOT be returning here. read more

I stopped going. Impossible to make a timely appointment. Scheduling is literally months out. Final issue was when they cancelled my July 3rd appointment a week out because they were on vacation. I guess they don't plan personal life that far in advance like they expect their patients. They couldn't get me in again for months. Ridiculous. In what I hope is my last and final update about this experience, after writing a public response to my first review (still no call back from the office returning my voicemail), Dr. Cardenas backdated a Discharge from Medical Practice letter and sent it to my home address. The letter sheds some interesting light on why this office is such a mess - it's sent from Santa Clarita. While I hope that the Physician Assistants aren't alone at the medical practice in Bakersfield while the "supervising" doctor is in Los Angeles County, it would explain a lot about their general incompetence and lackadaisical attitude about exposing patients and each other to COVID-19. read more

Service was horrible. I waited over an hour just to see the provider. Showed up early as a courtesy and as respect to their time and I was in the lobby alone for about 30 minutes when two other appts arrived and immediately called back finally when I'm called to the back I wait another 45 minutes to be seen. I understand that things happen but you can easily communicate with your patients. I too took time off work to be here for the appt showed up on time did my part a little respect for my time would of been nice. Rude and unprofessional . I will never return. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Cardenas for over 15 years. The practice is very professional. She has treated me for skin cancer. I have had skin cancer surgery and go for my routine skin checks at least 2-3 times per year. I have seen their PAs too and have been impressed with their level of training and care. I have been there recently and can attest that they are using all the latest precaution against covid 19. I know that thanks to their expertise, I am healthy and have beaten skin cancer! I went to this place hoping to have resolution to my concerns and a solution , but all they did was confirm that it's not cancer.

Dr. Cardenas is amazing! She is not only experienced and knows what she is doing, but she is very honest. I can't imagine going to any other office. If you have not given this place a try, I definitely would check them out. Also, the office girls are all dolls. I truly love this place. read more

My daughter had an appt and we got stuck in traffic. I called the office to see if we could still be seen. Appointment was at 3:15 and I called at 3:25 letting them know we were stuck in traffic since I had to call three times to get through. So by the time they got in the phone with us being exactly two minutes away they said they would have to reschedule a simple check appt because we would be 2 minutes past the 15 minute grace period. The Doctor said daughter could not be seen because she had other patients behind her. But since we're going to be 17 minutes late and not 15 that was the Doctor policy. Doctors have no grace for patients anymore. It is get in get out, be on time or be off my schedule. This office is ridiculous with having any grace or understanding when patients have things out of their control. Had to reschedule for 2 months later if that tells you anything else about the doctor and the office. read more

Hate this place. I missed an appointment due to work. Couldn't get me another appointment for 4 months. They would not renew my prescription to hold me until my appointment. Staff is rude and is little help. Waiting time are very long and never on time. My Dr is nice. That's the only reason for a 1 star. I will find another dermatologist. read more

I love this place. The waiting time is usually a very quick 20-30 minutes from when you check in, to seeing a Dermatologist.

Dr. Oakley was very attentive and knowledgeable. She answered all my questions and went above and beyond what an average doctor usually does. I was very impressed by her and the staff. I had been to a dermatologist before at a different location, and the issue that I went for was not resolved there. I went to Dr. Oakley to see if she had better insight , and she definitely did. She told me exactly what the issue was and how to resolve it. So glad I found a good dermatologist! read more

Be ready to WAIT! Appointments are never on time. Your 3 become 4oclock. Your 4oclock becomes 5!!! Then they call you in and you wait more!! Unreal!! Front office staff is so scatter brains and never know what the right hand is doing. The PA is decent and took care of my medical needs but GOD FORBID I ever get to see Dr Cardenas! She's never there. PAs run the show. Find someone else. Save yourself some stress and anger! read more

This office is amazing. I showed up a day late for my appointment, and they still fit me in. I felt awful, but the front office was incredibly nice. I would go back for the friendly front office alone, but the nurse practitioner who treated me continued the trend of excellent service. She made me feel comfortable and important. I had three biopsies done on moles and all of my questions were answered patiently and thoroughly. If you are looking for dermatological treatment, this is the place! read more

Actually all the staff wears a mask and is in compliance during Covid ...it's awful how people can portray pictures one way when that's not actually the real true story... I have used this office for multiple treatments for myself and my younger brother. I was pretty happy with the doctor when she handled my Accutane but over the years it seemed the office staff went downhill. The last time I seen they hit me with a random bill from 5 or 6 years prior. There always seems to be issues with their billing and the office staff is not very friendly. They've always had a current phone number for me and my address has always been forward if I moved. I was threatened with collections so it's not something I took lightly. It was over a minimal amount of money as well that I would have paid immediately had I known the years before that it was owed. Never received any notification. read more

Dr. Olson is good at what she does, but the office staff will not lift a finger to help you. Often times, the medications prescribed are an outrageous price and in order to get it covered, it would mean the staff would have to submit paperwork on your behalf to your insurance, which they will not do. They also do not return phone calls in a timely manner, or at all from what I experienced, which I thought was very rude and unprofessional. I stuck with them for a while because I liked Dr. Olson, but trying to get the prescriptions she was giving me was too complicated with this office. If you come here I highly recommend the PA Carly Lohstreter. I wasn't wowed by the front desk staff(this was my first appointment) but boy did she make up for it. Carly was super sweet and personable. She did a great job attending to all of my questions and problem areas. She was very knowledgeable and thorough. I took my grandma and let me tell you , We took almost an hour waiting to be called in , the staff excuse was " we are short staff " okay if they are short staff why do the schedule so many patients? I was pleased with the level of service and the wait time. All of the staff were friendly and polite. I was in and out fairly quickly. The PA who conducted the exam was knowledge and thorough. She explained the treatment process well and made me feel comfortable, as this was my first visit here. They all seem to know their stuff and are very efficient! Went in today for a 9am appt and after a short wait was back in a room. After a short wait I was seen by Josephine Olson who was very professional and thorough. She gave me some samples of a cream for my itchy skin problem and it is helping already. Not ring worm like I suspected. I was in and out in no time. Very happy. read more

Addressed some of my questions but when I went to ask another she told me that she had 8 other patients waiting and that she would address it at the next appt (8weeks) because she didn't have time. never had a doctor say they would get to my question another time because of other patients waiting. Most definitely will not be returning! read more
