WARNING: This office had poor hygiene practices, a VERY dismissive Dr., & I'd read this review carefully before deciding whether to see this physician or go to this office. I had a deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Zohn & I feel compelled to share it. I don't care how experienced he is or that he's about 80; although I wish I had known that before my visit, as frankly, at his age, if he can't treat patients with the care they deserve, maybe it's time to retire!! I'm a cancer patient & came in for a follow-up after a procedure. After waiting about 30 minutes, I politely asked if the staff could wash their hands before examining me. Instead of addressing my concern, Dr. Zohn LITERALLY walked out & sent a staff member to place cotton in my mouth. After she finished, she said I was done & could leave. I was stunned. And not in a good way. I asked if Dr. Zohn could come back & examine my tooth? After all, that is why I went to the trouble of going to his office for my visit, & I still had concerns & have some discomfort. The young gal staff member incredulously goes next-door & in ear-shot, says that I "insist" on him seeing me. First of all, I never used those words! 2nd of all to say I "insist on a doctor seeing me" is kind of a farce, given that's the whole point of my appt! I went for a follow-up. Why should I have to even ask that the dr look at my teeth?! Geesh. Reality really is more absurd than fiction. It gets worse. He makes me wait about another hr, & I didn't leave his office for about 11/2 hrs. Meanwhile, a mom in the wait area explains how he convinced her daughter to undergo a 2nd procedure while I was left waiting. His prioritization of other patients over my needs felt EXTREMELY dismissive. Finally, Dr. Zohn came out & asked, "What can I do for you?" despite this being my follow-up appt. I wanted him to assess how my mouth was healing, but he seemed oblivious, suggesting I should come back in a month for a follow-up, but this WAS my one month follow-up!! I gently explained this (at this point I should've gotten an award for having the patience of a saint!) so when he finally did come back he touched my tooth for a millisecond, & if he spent 20 seconds with me, up to a full minute, there's no reason he couldn't do so prior to his surgeries. FYI, I did have a 2 PM appt. So why should I have to wait for over an hr to an hour & a half?! Oh, yeah, surgeries bring $'s Worse, I don't believe he even changed his gloves from the previous procedure before briefly touching my tooth & declaring it fine. I know this because he came out of the operating room w the gloves on, had no inclination or thought that he was going to bring me back to another exam room, until I asked him to do so, & even suggested I come back in another month. So he reluctantly went back with me to the exam room & I strongly believe he still had the same gloves on, & this after I already explained how I had cancer & hoped he would take safeguards like washing hands before touching me!! Being dismissive is bad enough. Making me wait an hour & a half is another thing. But if you don't change your gloves and/or wash hands between patients, ANY patient, but especially one with an immuno-compromised system, this is a Dr who should no longer be practicing medicine, regardless of lifetime skill!!! That is just negligence. I don't know the legal definition but generally speaking, it is negligent behavior. I don't know the skill of any of his colleague physicians, but this reflects badly on the whole office. I even suggested to the office manager that if Dr. Zohn not comfortable with follow-ups, maybe he should ask one of his colleagues to do that on his behalf. She said that the physicians don't do that. OK. Well this doctor didn't do his due diligence; hence posting this review warning others. Again, he may be skilled. I will acknowledge that my pain level has decreased significantly since the procedure but in itself, that is insufficient. I needed this person to treat me like a human, and actually check on my mouth in a timely and good & hygienic manner. It's great that he was using Hebrew/Yiddish terms with who I believe to be his Orthodox patient. I too am Jewish, so I almost felt like I should say that to him because they were getting absolute preferred treatment. (I am not Orthodox, however). But all patients should be treated the same regardless of their religious proclivities. As a patient who had kept every appt, paid on time, in full, and even brought him a thank-you gift, I expected better treatment. The lack of awareness regarding hygiene protocols in this day and age is EXTREMELY alarming, especially with viruses circulating. Overall, the care I received was unacceptable. The way a physician treats their patients matters, and dismissiveness can overshadow even the best skills. I hope my experience can save someone else from a similar fate. Forgot to post this 6 months ago. I am sure the doctors here are amazing, and their service is top notch. However, I was in need of emergency consult in which I even called their emergency line. I spoke with their Ocean office which had an opening but I decided to the Freehold one instead. I got everything all set up in Freehold when an employee realized I had tested positive for covid in the last 10 days. Now per CDC Guidelines as of today, after 6 days you are good to go places with a mask at all times as long you are not symptomatic. Where Day 0 being first day of symptoms regardless of when a test was done. I am currently exactly on the last day with a negative test in hand. The said employee went to confirm whether that was okay and when she was told from the Dr that it was okay she said the following and I am paraphrasing: " You can come in, I guess no one cares in the office about covid anymore. Come and spread it around" Then she hung up after I mumbled a weird thank you. When I called back a half hour later to cancel the appointment she asked why to which I stated I found a different place and she made me extremely uncomfortable. read more

I went there last week for a consultation and it as felt everyone was professional, friendly and very helpful. I saw Dr. Apolito and he was very honest about what needed to be done in my case and i trusted his diagnosis. If you are looking for an office who won't make you do unnecessary stuff with overcharging then DONOT go to this place. I made mistake by not reading the negative reviews. I went there only for consultation they unfairly charged me for doing totally unnecessary stuff without letting me know. I tried to reach them to solve the issue and then show their true face. I went there the other day when a rooth got infected over the weekend. I called Monday and I told them it was painful and I got an appointment the next day. The office is nice. I had done all their fotms online and I was taken back after a few minutes. All the people I dealt with were professional and friendly. The endo was very nice. Took the time to explain everything. Yesterday the pain was bad but it's better today. I was impressed with this place and would come here again if I get another bad tooth. read more

Called office twice on the same day after emergent root canal surgery with concerns of severe to extreme discomfort. Based on a scale of 1 to 10, I relayed that my discomfort was a 10. I was told from secretarial staff (Christine) that they would call me back. My second call I was in such severe pain I was crying. Dr. Thai did not have the courtesy to call me back herself to triage my severe pain. Message from Dr. Thai was relayed to me by her secretarial staff to continue advil and tylenol. As a Medical Professional myself, I would have at the least called my patient back to assess that there were no serious complications and especially to assure my patient. read more

Beware! Very Aggressive Debt Collection Practices! My family and I have been patients of this practice for 10+ years and have been reasonably satisfied throughout that time (and have always paid our bills in full). My son saw Dr. Zohn in 2018 and in June 2019 (less than 9 months after receiving the final $365 bill for the treatment) they actually filed a lawsuit (!) against both my wife and I in Ocean County Superior Court. When I tried to call the office and pay the bill, I was told it was "too late" and I would have to deal directly with their attorney. I ultimately had to spend a bunch of time and pay significantly more than $365 to get their attorney to dismiss the case and the lawsuit will remain part of public record. I have never had an experience like this and I will not be returning to this practice. read more

I had the experience to go for root canal at this practice in Freehold. From the start of the process this is a class act. Dr Zohn is extremely competent, professional, and a genuinely nice gentleman. They are state of the art. I went in there with a toothache. I did not feel a thing through the entire procedure after excellent anesthesia. Can't say enough about the Dental assistant Tina. She was with me before and during the entire procedure. Truly professional, warm and very competent. I left with no pain at all, and still don't feel any pain. Would recommend this practice without the slightest reservation. read more

I was so scared of having to have a root canal. The experience from the first phone call thru the procedure was "painless". Even during this trying time the professional nurses, receptionist and doctor were wonderful. The unknown of how the procedure would be was far worse than the procedure. At a very young age I have developed a fear of the dentist because my childhood dentist was a bit rough and hurt me. It took me nearly 30 years to find a dentist that I liked. When he told me that I needed a root canal that he wasn't comfortable with and referred me to an endodontist, all of those childhood fears came back. I stumbled upon Advanced Endodontics by accident. They were the only Endo group near my home with open appointments that took my insurance. All i can say is THANK GOD I found them. Dr. Apolito was able to calm my fears and explained what needed to be done. He had a great bedside manner and was able to perform a difficult root canal with little to no pain. This difficult root canal was no more painful than getting a small filling. The entire staff was great, very friendly and responsive to my questions and concerns. Its been a couple of years since I had the procedure and thank goodness haven't needed Advanced Endo's services since. If I ever do need another root canal, Dr. Apolito will be my first call!!! read more

Today called to make an appointment. Was referred by my dentist. who ever works as the receptionist at the Freehold office, you doctors, who own this practice should be aware how unprofessional and pushy that person is. I only called for an appointment. Shes not a doctor nor have Ive ever been seen by one of the doctors in this office. Right away our root canal is $1450.00. Ummmm who are you, I might not even need it number 1. I needed an appointment to get to the root of my problem 1st. How dare you talk to me about money. Is this office to help people with their problems or are these doctors business ONLY! So I call the 2nd time to reschedule my appointment, just started my antibiotics. She says NO you have to come in for a consultation, which is $150. Seriously, doctors who own this practice train your receptionist to be more compassionate understanding towards patients. Im sure you lost a lot of patients with your receptionist. Maybe the doctors are good, but I will definitely will never call back to your office. read more

The office asked me for all referring paperwork and registration. Once all were sent in and completed they would not give me an appointment due to having covid symptoms 2 weeks ago. This is against CDC and WHO guidelines. :( read more

My mom came to Dr. Z to get a procedure done which required surgery of 5 stitches in her mouth but then was sent home with no medications or no prescriptions. After the surgery was conducted, my mom started gradually complaining more and more about pain she was having post surgery. Her face started to swell up as days progressed and she called the office explaining her condition. The office replied saying that they spoke to the doctor and she can take two Advils for the pain. She followed the doctors orders and did so for 2 days following but nothing improved and her face was continuing to swell as she was experiencing heightening pain. After a week from the day of the surgery, she went to the follow up appointment where the doctor told her she had a large infection growing in her mouth. She explained that she tried calling the office multiple times to describe the severity of the condition but was told to just take pain killers. The doctor then told her that he forgot to prescribe antibiotics and laughed it off. The doctors and staff were negligent and could be sued for malpractice. Very unprofessional place that I would recommend avoiding at all costs. read more

Dr. Thai and her staff are absolutely amazing. I previously had a terrible fear of dentists along with the pain that came along with the procedures. I had a retreatment done today and it was surprisingly painless. She was amazing. I went in for x-rays and was able to have the procedure done right then and there. The entire process took about 45 minutes at most. She explained everything to me in great detail and she was very understanding of my fears. I can't thank her enough. The staff are also so amazing and helpful. It was all such a positive experience. I recommend her to everyone!! read more

I was referred to Dr Berger by my dentist regarding pain from a root canal treatment that I had done on a molar. Dr. Berger took a scan of the tooth. Not only did he fail to see a missed canal but his recommendation was have the tooth pulled with an implant. I found an endodontist in Manhattan (for a second opinion) who saw the missed canal immediately on the black and white X-ray as well as a copy of the scan that was taken from Dr Bergers office. Of course, he was able to successfully retreat the tooth. Dr. Bergers office insisted I pay for the CONSULTATION in full and was unwilling to negotiate. Not happy. Endodontists are supposed to see missed canals as they are the specialists who have the special expertise to do so. No new scan had to be taken by my endodontist in the city. He knew where to look and he saw it instantly. Let me also mention that I went to see Dr Thai in the Ocean office regarding sensitivity to hot an cold near the tooth that had the failed root canal back in March. She did a hot and cold test. Of course charged me for it. Turned out my endodontist in the city took a very quick peak at the tooth and saw tooth decay and it's nothing more than a cavity . As it stands I have to wait until this year for treatment from my dentist as my insurance has been more than depleted over this fiasco. I'd be MORE than happy to send you proof of what was done. But only if you agree for some reimbursement as even the consultation charges were not even slightly accurate or satisfactory. read more
