Despite continuing to experience severe symptoms including a very sore/red throat, mucus/postnasal drainage, weakness, and ongoing discomfort, my concerns were repeatedly brushed off throughout the visit. The clear CT scan was used as justification to dismiss how sick I still felt rather than discussing reasonable next steps or follow-up care. I simply requested basic follow-up lab work such as a CBC and inflammation markers due to ongoing symptoms and was told "that's not something we do" and to contact my PCP. While I understand specialists may defer certain testing to primary care, the way it was communicated felt cold, dismissive, and lacking compassion. The bedside manner from NP Taylor Thomas and an older nurse with graying blonde hair during my May 26, 2026 visit made me feel like I was inconveniencing them simply for asking questions and trying to advocate for myself. Patients deserve to feel listened to and treated respectfully, especially when they are clearly unwell and seeking answers. I do want to clarify that my issue was not with the clinic as a whole, and I would still be willing to continue care there with a different provider in the future. However, this particular experience was disappointing enough that I felt it needed to be shared honestly.

She sounded absolutely miserable, unhappy, and annoyed from the minute she picked up the phone. Her greeting (and all interactions from then) was super unprofessional and unfriendly. She was curt, rude, condescending and spent at least half the call sighing aloud as if annoyed that she had been bothered at work by work calls. The "contact us" on their website doesn't work. Possibly they have disabled it because they get so many complaints? This interaction was enough for us to switch providers and let me tell you - this was a VA referral so that's saying A LOT. This took weeks if not longer to even get to this point but our experience with this office was so bad that I would rather wait weeks or months to schedule elsewhere because if they allow and encourage their front office staff to be so awful to patients, I can only imagine the lack of care that the providers have. Really disappointed and we will not be returning.

They were able to clear out the ear wax with the newer technology machine that kind of suction it out, which was nice. The doctor here is amazing. I highly recommend it. At that time, I had already been fitted with hearing aids, and my hearing had suddenly dropped after my most recent hearing tests. Dr. Hegarty recommended that I try a course of prednisone to see if it would improve my hearing. Unfortunately, the medication did not help, and the side effects were significant. When I attended my follow-up appointment, I was informed by the assistant that I would need another hearing test before speaking with Dr. Hegarty. I requested to speak with Dr. Hegarty directly. Having already completed two hearing tests within two months and experienced no improvement from prednisone, I did not feel it was necessary to repeat the test simply to discuss my care. Despite this, I was told I could not be seen or ask further questions, and Dr. Hegarty refused to speak with me or intervene. This approach felt arbitrary, as decisions about my access to care were made without consideration of my prior tests, treatment outcomes, or concerns. I was not followed up by Dr. Iliff either, and I did not feel comfortable returning to either office under these circumstances. Patients should not be forced to undergo repeated tests solely to have a discussion about their care, and this experience left me feeling dismissed and unsupported!
