As a very active person with a job that requires me to constantly move and crouch, but also sit at a desk where my PSOAS will be shortened and doing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu that pushes my body to the limit, normal massage therapy would make it feel better for a day but the pain would come back. Steve understands how the body works, and works on the root cause of the pain. So he actually works on the CAUSE of the pain, rather than just the pain itself. I happened to be up in Mesa for the day working and found Steve here on Yelp when looking for a local therapist. I was in a great deal of pain and didn't know how I was going to make it through the rest of my work day. Fortunately, he had a cancellation and was able to work me in. The work was so effective that not only did I get immediate relief, but I also slept like a baby that night. The tension from all of my work-related stress just seemed to dissipate. I'm in town for a few weeks when I strained my neck. Probably during one of my Stratego Victories! I'm visiting one of my daughters when I mentioned the neck was sticking to one side. Now my shoulder is aching. She suggested a massage. Yes, that's what I needed. But where? So we start reading Yelp Reviews. Nothing seemed highly recommended. Can't remember what the rating was for Thérapie Day Spa. It was close. So we called. And Yes, they can see me! Arrived at this cute little yellow house. So typical of La Mesa. The receptionist was warm and friendly. There was another person floating around. Making sure your check-in. Handing me an information sheet to fill out. Making sure I am hydrated. Then reminded me to re-hydrate afterward. Oh, and if you need a restroom break.. She had a willowy softness to her. My Therapist enters reception. Introducing herself to me as B. Then going over my issues with me with extreme interest. Already I felt at ease. My session lasted about 50 minutes. And during this time she managed to manipulate every ache and kink I had upon arrival. I left feeling tingly all over. She also discussed some other types of massage techniques that I might benefit from. I took that advice and discussed it with my primary care Doctor. Who inadvertently supports this type of therapy. I highly recommend Steve at Advanced Myofacial Massage! I have had two back surgeries including a lower back spinal fusion. My back flared up again very bad and I was concerned I was going to have to have another surgery. Then I found Steve. He was not only able to give me short-term relief, he has also given me long-term relief. No more surgeries and no more pain! We need massage just like everyone else - and we are very selective about who we choose to work on us. Steve is great at finding and releasing the stuck areas of tissue. Both experiences did not even closely address my symptoms to the degree that Steve has. After my first visit my pain level decreased considerably.
