The other staff here are very friendly and helpful and will greet you within seconds of entering the store. Well, the store is pretty small so it would be hard for them not to really, but I still appreciated it. The pharmacy offers free safe syringe disposal containers and also offers free disposal on site. It is quite a busy place and people are constantly running in and out to get prescriptions, pick up some shampoo or have a chat about various medical ailments. There is a great community feel in there and I enjoyed my visit. My only criticism is that the area of the store with hygiene products, umbrellas and little gifts was a little messy and dusty.

The Amcal Pharmacy at South Melbourne is definitely the only pharmacy I've ever been to that I've actually wanted to send people to. The staff are the most helpful and compassionate I've come across. They are a compounding pharmacy, which means they have different stock and can offer alternative solutions to your prescriptions. If you're having an issue that feels a bit unsolvable, go and talk to them. It's the kind of thing I used to stubbornly resist until I realised that they have multiple solutions for many ailments and will arm you with enough information to make your own choice or discuss with your doctor. I'm not a fan of going to the pharmacy, but at least I trust them to help me out when I'm sick and grumpy!

The shop is owned by Diana Nowak and it is run really well. There are always plenty of people working and you will be welcomed when you first enter the store. There is a great range of products on offer, with the typical pharmacy vitamins and sunscreen to lovely moisturisers and soaps to make you feel better. Later at night, I found the 2 packs in the packaging stuck to each other with a small hole, look like it has been melted. Obviously it is a faulty product and unsafe to use. Next day I took the product back to the shop. I explained the situation and looked for a replacement but the staff asked me to contact the manufacturer directly for any warranty. While there is no contact or warranty information shown on the packaging, I raised a concern that it should be the responsibility of retailer, not consumer, and I would lodge a complaint at their shop at consumer council. The bald man in suit who looks like a boss suddenly became so angry. Shouted at me getting out of shop, pushed me, and took my phone. I managed to take back my phone and he later asked me to go back to shop. God knows what's going to happen so I just left and seeked for security help. He soon left the shop, and the staff there refused to respond. The entire scene should be recorded by cctv in Forest Hill Chase. I understand there could be dispute in refund / replacement matter. While I was willing to settle the matter with consumer council, the violence and freightening behavior is ridiculous. After all, this shop product is always higher RRP, less variety, irresponsible staff, and crazy boss would probably leave me the worst shopping experience.

It is perfectly adequate and I have no complaints. They stock a small variety of beauty and health products. As usual I headed straight for the most colourful item in sight - the nail polish. It was only $2.50 but it turned out to be pretty sloppy quality. Not a reflection on the pharmacy but the no-name brand does not earn my recommendation. The staff here are very friendly and helpful although I did notice that there were more customers than staff - this can get annoying particularly when you are in a rush. The staff took their time with each customer too and I appreciated this - only after I got served though!
