The facility is top notch. I believe it was my favorite experience in the Denver area. The is very clean and newer looking. The employees were all top notch. My nurses were amazing professional yet very friendly. The techs and therapists were great to work with. Memorable favorites were Lourdwine (Lu) my Wednesday RN and Dave my physical therapist. FIVE STARS for our Primary, Dr. Sarah Forars, who my husband has been seeing for seven years and Nadine Hosmer who supports 198 doctors with referrals. Collectively, they submitted THREE referrals in separate formats to try and accommodate UnitedHealthcare's (UHC) relatively new and strict requirements, plus UHC's online portal having been down for days. Nadine was incredibly empathetic and advocated for us in ways that even my husband and I calling as the insured/patient was wildly unsuccessful. But, and it's a big BUT....Their lack of competence in their billing/insurance department is less than acceptable - it should be illegal. It should be a standard operating procedure to submit the codes needed for the insurance company but somehow they have complicated the situation to UNBELIEVABLE!!! I gave a 2 only because my heard heart doc. and general surgeon are amazing. But I wouldn't suggest using PCP's Dr. Lee or Dr. Blackford. They both put in really bad psych diagnoses into my chart but refuse to tell my present therapist what docs they got those diagnoses from. Blackford violated my HIPPA rights as well. I tried calling patient advocate, but she called the police. Then I went to exec offices and spoke to Keith Rabin, Senior executive Assistant. 4 weeks later only silence, no attempt at resolution just making my depression even worse. I find this a total violation of what that hospital stands for: "Extending the healing ministry of Christ" which they proudly put on their business cards??? My advice is to totally steer clear of Advent Porter PCP's. and Mr. Rabin as they have a very warped view of what the healing ministry of Christ is!!!. read more

I was born at Porters, my mom was born at Porters. we live in the neighborhood and have a long relationship with Porters but I will never go there again. Their security is over the top aggressive. Checking into the ER today was ridiculous. And when I made a comment to the guard about it being excessive she yelled at me that we don't question security at HER hospital. I am sorry but I am not going to get yelled at by a rent a cop when we are just trying to get care for our family member. We walked out and went to a non Advent hospital. read more

I have been a patient at Porter Hospital for many years and for the last 3 years I have been under the care of the Porter Wound Care Center for multiple wound treatment and surgery on my foot and legs. The care I have received from the Porter Wound Care Center has been excellent and because of them I am healing and am able to return to my daily routines. The front desk intake staff is efficient and willing to help me navigate the insurance and billing problems that arise and they are always pleasant and easy to work with. The nursing staff is exceptional and their expertise and care as well as their ability to ease my stress when I have a visit makes the experience so much more helpful and successful. I am under the care of two Doctors that are two of the best I have ever worked with...Dr. Keleigh Muxlow and Dr. Megan Eliassen. Both have been able to treat me and heal me and guide me through mys medical crisises. Both of these doctors have the rare combination of expertise AND compassion. Both are exceptional in their patient-centered approach to my health. Dr. Muxlow is also my podiatry surgeon and she has saved my leg and foot from amputation during my medical crises. I am very pleased with the level of care, concern, and committment of the Porter Wound Care Center as they treat me and guide me through my healing journey. Porter inpatient psych unit doesn't care about people. The doctors are eager to release people that are a danger to themselves. Even when they were told a pt was a danger to themselves by the patient and her friends. They made everything worse. DO NO SEND ANYONE YOU LOVE HERE. If I could give them negative stars I would. Dr. Coutry is the worst , rudest doctor I have ever meet. Dx me with something that was ridiculouy not true and when I disagreed he talked down to me . Talking to me like I was some inexperienced child. Even had the nerve to tell me to never come back. As if he runs the hospital. His said they couldn't help me. The irony was when I wasn't there by choice in the first place. I had gone to another hospital but they were out of beds so they transferred me to Porter. I had been there before I know they don't care if a patient flat out tells them they are going to kill themselves. They still release them because what they care about is Money not pt care. The other is staff is fantastic. The therapist and nurses are all very caring people. So again the only person that is a straight up Jerk is Dr. Coutry. My room had so much water damage it was all bubbled up and just painted over. The hospital is in desperate need of repairs and remodeling. read more

ED staff need to listen to their patients. I went in for abdominal pain. Care was good until I was given a medication for nausea. I kept haven a decrease on oxygen levels. I asked if this was a side effect or an allergic reaction. I was told by several staff members that was not a reaction to this medication, Zofran. I googled it and it was an allergic reaction. I had a procedure yesterday and discussed this with the anasthesiologist and she confirmed it was an allergic reaction. My partner was there to experience what happened in the ED. I filed a grievance. The result was they felt there was not a problem and care was perfect. SMH. read more

I went to the ER at Porter Hospital on 8/24 and the staff were professional and caring. They took my condition seriously and diagnosed my with Pneumonia. I was admitted into the Porter Hospital ICU. I honestly did not want to be admitted but now am happy I was. My care team, every single one of them, were amazing! I don't have one complaint. They all listened to me and did everything to make me comfortable. I was absolutely AMAZED at the care I received at Porter. The staff is professional, friendly, and compassionate. The kindness and knowledge of the staff set me at ease, answered any and all questions (even though some seemed a bit silly), and made my stay more comfortable than than I could have hoped for. I cannot give enough praise and thanks to the most awesome hospital team I have ever had the pleasure to work with :-) I want to say a very special Thank you to all the nurses who took care of while I was there. Wound Care review The staff were wonderful! So nice and helpful. It took a while for my wounds to heal but the care they provided was fantastic. They cannot predict how long it will take for your body to heal. No one can. There are many variables. They treat your wounds and it's up to you to follow the treatment plan. read more

Honestly, pretty disappointed. At first, I was happy, loved Dr. Buehrer. I thought she was cool and I thought finally a doctor I can trust lol. Months later, I receive a bill from COLLECTIONS. I'm sorry, I literally got a Pap smear and a physical, both of which are covered by insurance. She also did a pregnancy test even though I told her I wasn't pregnant. I'm pretty sure I declined any STD testing as I had just had it a few months prior. I don't understand what the charges are for here. I asked probably 50 times to be sure that everything was covered because I was BROKE and I told her that. Not only that, but I was never sent a regular bill, not one. Not even a warning that it was delinquent or going to collections. The only thing I got was a collections bill, then I started getting calls at which I told them to stop calling me. The best part of it is that on the collection statement it doesn't even show what the charges are for. read more

2017 went in for spinal surgery, I ended up with a horrible infection to find out 6 months later porter admitted to a 1.5 gear sterilization breach health department shut them down for months. The girl after my surgery also got a horrible infection. 155 patients were in class action lawsuit 93 million dollars 12 people passed. I would never go here again in my life. read more

In patient psychiatric care - four hours of an admission process and was only able to speak to them a few times, no one was around. Attending nurse lied saying "patient thinks they might hurt themselves." Ive never had thoughts of hurting anyone my whole life, and this was the reason they used to involuntary hold me and get my business. Staff was behind glass walls and 3/4 times they said were too busy, ignoring whatever patient was standing there for help. When they did help, it took multiple requests over hours. Avoid going here for psychiatric care, dont give they any business or money. I am reporting the liar to the state licensing board DORA and advise others to do the same, maybe they will threaten to revoke licensing. read more

Appointment made for an x-ray on 4/14/23 for 4/17/23. I was told the Appointment was at 12:30 and to check in 15 earlier. I arrived at 12:15, checked in and waited til 1:10. Everyone in the waiting g room was complaining about their waiting time. So at 2:15 they call and want to know if I'm in the hospital. I said no I've left the hospital at 1:10. They try to tell me that my appointment was at 1pm and check in was 12:30. What a crock!!!!! They have zero respect for my time. I also told the hospital not to charge Medicare for a missed appointment or I'd turn them in. Everything was made my fault for them being late or because they can't get help because of the pandemic. Porter hospital GI lab has unsafe medical practices. I did talk with Porter patient advocate with no follow up to any resolution for a month now. Porter Hospital GI Lab has some major safety issues that need to be addressed. Nurse did not return back to my room to check on me before my procedure.(no medical personnel came back into my room for 50 minutes) Was nauseous nurse was going to check with anthestologist for anti nauseous medication never saw the nurse again. No nurse or call light was available in the room - GI lab was just opened this option had not been installed in the patient rooms. I feel like this is a major safety issue due to being alone in my room for 50 minutes with no medical personnel if I have fallen or had a medical emergency while in the room no way to contact anyone for help. IV drip bag was laying on the bed for 40 minutes after using rest room no medical staff hooked it back up. Was not safe were the IV pole was situated on the bed. I would have to climb on the bed to hang the bag back up. No allergy wrist band was provided - did get a rash from the iv site due to tape allergy. Nurse did not take out my IV in the hospital upon discharge this is a major concern due to being at risk for infection. I noticed my arm was hurting I lifted up my sleeve on my way home from the hospital and saw the IV still attached into my arm. We contacted the GI lab to report this issue. read more

I would like to start with how aggressive the nurses were while clearing my sisters trachea just yesterday. They claim she has internal bleeding, yet cram the suction tube forcefully down my sisters chest. Which in my opinion caused the bleeding. Then when I asked about a liver transplant one nurse said, "you need working kidneys to start". Just very rude and unprofessional of her to make such a statement. Just the day before when I went to visit my sister the nurse claimed they had cleaned my sisters face 4 hours ago, yet she seemed as if she hadn't been attended to since her arrival 3 days prior. Then to top it all off I went to visit her yesterday which I was there from 9am to 2:15pm and we were scheduled to have a family meeting at 2. So at 2:15 pm I get annoyed and since my phone died I figure I'd go see outside if my mother had pulled up. And to my surprise there she was being held at the entrance with the door clerk saying my sister already had a visitor and wasn't allowed up. As crucial as this meeting was they failed to schedule the appointment obviously as I had to kidnap my mom and take her upstairs where we were met with security and weren't allowed to attend the appointment. Ultimately they kicked me out of the hospital forever and our family meeting was boiled down to a doctors pathetic advice to let my sister die comfortably. They didn't even try one procedure to accommodate her disease. This place seems like a hell hole, that does the entire opposite of any other hospital I've attended. If I could give negative stars I would give them -99. A total nightmare, and completely inconsiderate toward patients. read more

So I'm very familiar with hospitals unfortunately, and alot of the experiences where , let's just say below par. But Porter is a totally different ball game! Everyone here is super attentive and efficient. If you are willing to work with the staff they are willing to work with you, plain and simple. Alot of people are super mean to medical staff for some reason, and inturn they have to assume alsmot everyone will be like that. If you arent mean or rude to them, these folks will go above and beyond to make sure you are comfortable, and medically well. This jsnow my go too in the future of I ever need emergency services from here on out! Thank you all for your amazing work! PS. DONT BE RUDE OR MEDICAL STAFF! THEY CONTROLL YOUR MEDS ETC. He is reckless, cruel, judgmental with 0 regard to patient care. When he came to speak to us in preop It was obvious he had not read my husbands chart 1 HOUR BEFORE SURGERY!!! His excuse for not calling the day before like he was supposed to was "i got busy" Several nurses and our surgeon have apologized profusely about the way Dr Haworth treated my husband & me before he went in for his SPINAL FUSION. @PorterHospital Porter Culinary in #Denver was great. As a guest of an admitted patient, I had several days to try the room service. A wide selection on the menu was a delight. Delicious black coffee, biscuit and gravy, turkey bacon, hamburger on wheat bun with all the necessary condiments, French fries and a delicious vanilla milkshake were what I had over the course of three days. The biscuit and gravy I had more than once. The prices were beyond reasonable. Cheap I decree. While patients eat for free free, the guest prices were really good. Delicious meals without breaking the bank. That is the best I always say. If in hospital or as a guest, don't fret about hospital food here. Try it. You'll be glad you did. read more

This review is about my experiences during joint replacement and other procedures at Porter. The medical practice doctors were great, but they are only one part of the experience. Check-in was ok compared to other hospitals like Rose and SkyRidge. The post surgery care was ok, not good. There were all sorts of issues with monitoring equipment in my room. I had to ask repeatedly to fix or turn off. And the nursing staff were either A+ or D-, nothing in between. I read a lot about their Christian mission. However, given the number of physician visits and other healthcare people, where the visits were extremely short, this appeared to be more about padding the bill than care that would make be better or ensure my safety. I have to say that after experience with SCL and HealthOne, they are much better hospitals. I know they are trying to make a profit, and that is fine. But with those two I did not feel like they were padding the bill in anyway. And, they were very good about follow up post procedure and upon my return home. read more

I would not recommend seeing Dr. Lizbeth Gibson at Porter Hospital. She lacks communication, empathy, and bedside manner. She didn't seem to care I was in pain and I had to be my own advocate. It was extremely frustrating to work with her and I still don't have a diagnoses. read more

Showing up seems like a good start for almost any activity. Unfortunately, at Porter Adventist Centura Hospital, I showed up for an appointment on-time if not slightly early. I was there but the staff at Porter Centura were not ready, I was turned away; "Maybe next Friday...? I will not be returning to give them another chance. On top of this status, I was lied to by Porter staff. On the morning of my expected appointment, while traveling two "unknown caller" calls were made to me, neither caller left a message. In any case, calling the morning of a medical appointment less than an hour before my scheduled appointment is unprofessional and inexcusable. I spent many years looking for systemic issues with medical bill processing, Porter Adventist Centura Hospital cannot even get the most basic aspect, the "Showing-up" aspect handled correctly. It makes one wonder if perhaps a better use of land rather than a hospital might better serve the community. I cannot give Porter Adventist Centura Hospital any review other than the absolute worst possible, failing at simply showing-up is inexcusable but especially for a healthcare provider. read more

Having had a quad-bypass open heart surgery (CABG) I feel qualified to comment on the quality of treatment and care I received at Porter Adventist Hospital. I will say my surgeon (who is able to Practice at Porter but directly affiliated) did an excellent job. However, the staff that did the opening and closing did a horrendous job. My scarring, nerve damage and misalignment of my chest closing left me with a half-inch scar down my chest and am an embarrassment to look at. Doctors that I see comment on this. The usual phrase is "shoddy workmanship". And in the ICU, with the exception of one male nurse I felt nearly abused. Especially coming out of anesthesia. In my opinion, if you need cardiac surgery RUN from this place to another. I spoke with someone who had a similar experience at Porter and her husband died while in recovery. Find a surgeon that practices elsewhere! read more

This hospital totally took advantage of my then 19 year old son. He went to the emergency room with chest pain. Turns out he was fine. My son got a bill for over $6000.00 !! For 6 hours in the emergency room, really? That is totally shady and taking advantage of someone that doesn't know to ask questions about what the heck these people are doing. He can't pay it of course, so they turned it to collection. Stay away from this hospital!! read more

I wish this hospital would've helped my sister who has been in psychosis for two months, but instead they kept her for a weekend and called it good. How can you help someone with severe mental problems in two days with zero aftercare plans?? You can't. I even fought for her to stay longer but they dismissed my concerns. Mental health resources apparently are limited to people who are violent. Huge bummer. read more

I had an excellent outcome with an emergency appendectomy surgery at Porter in September. The emergency department tech , Blaise, got my IV started, blood draw and EKG within minutes. The ED doctor sent for for a scan which showed surgery Was needed .Dr. Conner performed surgery the same day. He is very gifted and the surgery went well. I was able to go home that night. The anesthesia was easy to recover from. All in all a very good and probable life saving ED visit with many caring and experienced staff. read more

Its embarrassing, but im just going to say it how it wsa. My son was invited to a super bowl party, he got stupid and over drank vodka his friend stole Vdka from his parents. The parents were there, even offered to pay half deductible but ran and left Colorado before paying. (E Brennan). My son being a lush, never drinking ever, drank about 14 oz in about 3 minutes. He went out like a rock. They videotaped their stupidity. His son admits it all. The Hospital insisted they do not pump stomachs anymore and that they would just rehydrate him until he woke back up. Back in our days being (Genx) that was the best medicine. Stomach pumping, charcoal down the hatch never wanted to drink again. He woke up without even a headache, but it did scare him. Then we got the 27,000-dollar medical bill for 6-7 hours of treatment. Plus doctors' bills so far, totaling over another $3000, plus ambulance for $1500. It goes on and on. I would never use another Advent Porter Parker hospital again. They rake the insurance over the coals. Beter going to UCH they are allot more honest about billing. read more

A mixed review for this hospital visit. Checked in at 8:16 am with severe abdominal pain. Was treated relatively quickly with IV fluids and pain meds. Got a CT scan within the hour. Diagnosed with food poisoning within another hour. And then...crickets. Going on four hours since we walked in. Being held captive. Perhaps a ransom note will be sent out by one of the nurses soon. read more
