There is a parking lot up the hill, for those seeking a longer walk but also very close to the lookout point but we were on a time crunch to make the sunset so we chose the closer lot There were people already there with their tripods set up to capture the lovely, tranquil, valley and if the natural beauty wasn't enough, we also lucked into a transport ship rounding the bend as the sun was setting....the river is used to transport coal & other heavy items by the very ships we saw that evening The Mr advised me Saarschleife is 1 of the famous sights in the Saar region & the Saar loop is considered the symbol of the Saarland....& I can see why....just lovely!

There is also a cafe and gift shop at the start of the adventure. I plan on bringing my family here when they visit later this year, I know that they will enjoy this experience.

This is basically a ruined castle on the top of a mountain. The ruins themselves are pretty…read moreordinary, though when you realise that the mountain upon which this castle was built was traditionally the mountain where Sigfried killed the dragon, it does add a completely different dimension to the location. However, the castle itself really isn't that fascinating, it's juts a pile of stones on the top of a mountain, however the view from the mountain is actually quite impressive. There is also a restaurant and a kiosk up here as well.

You get a full view of the Rhine river on its pass through Bonn. In the fall you get to see the beautiful colorful foliage. In the winter, you see a winter wonderland. Seriously amazing. Must do.
