We did the tour out to Morris Island and our crew took excellent care of us- Aaron gave us some history as we passed boats docked, the sailboat junk-harbor, historic info on the Battery and some of the houses. As well as insight to the storms that have beat well over that seawall. Some interesting info about the civil war and who really fired the first shot... rebels. It really was a nice ride out to the island and then we were off the boat following the shark teeth finding expert- who I can't remember his name. I found a small amount of teeth- but I did find a megalodon tooth! Not fully intact- but STILL- how cool. I also murdered my cell phone- don't ask. I found a keyhole sea urchin (something most people think are sand-dollars) and a couple shells to keep. 90 minutes on island flew by and we were back on the boat in shade enjoying the wind as we returned. Captain Howard (the owner of Adventure Harbor Tours) definitely made our trip to Charleston an unforgettable experience! The purpose of our trip to Charleston was to take my cancerous dog Charlie to enjoy beach run one more time. Given that most of the beaches require dogs on leash, a visit to Morris Island (which is uninhabited and only accessible by boat ) quickly got on our wish list. Unfortunately because one of my 3 dogs on this trip has small dog syndrome and couldn't stop barking at the other well-behaved dog brought by other passengers on the boat, we decided to leave the tour so that we don't spoil other people's fun. For his love of dogs, Captain Howard graciously offered to make a special arrangement for us. He asked us to come back the next day and had Captain Aaron taken us (just us!) on a 3-hour trip to Morris Island. I thought the private tour was gonna cost us an arm and a leg, but he charged us regular tour price per person for two (and dogs for free). Captain Aaron was informative and friendly. In addition to the fun facts and history, he told us where to go on high tide when we got to the island. Charlie and my other two dogs were overjoyed when they realized they could run free on the island!! They ran in and out of water, played fetch on the beach, and enjoyed the rare sunshiny day. Captain Howard was absolutely right--Morris Island is truly Disney World for dogs! We had three exhausted but very happy dogs by the end of the visit. More importantly, it meant a lot to me to check running freely on beach off Charlie's bucket list. From a dog lover to another dog lover, I thank Captain Howard for his kindness. Took the "mild" sunset tour and enjoyed every minute of it. The tour guides were great, offering narrated (and oftentimes funny) commentary on the places we saw from the boat. We got to ask questions often and my husband and I were able to plan a few places we wanted to visit just by gathering information from this tour. You can BYOB which is awesome and we even had a very well-behaved dog on board our cruise :) They cruise to the Ravenel bridge and back. Mostly smooth ride except when a large boat passes and you get the effects of the wake. Would definitely recommend this tour to friends. read more

We were looking for something to do in Charleston and this place came up in searches for a sunset cruise. We called, and setting up the cruise for the four of us was a snap; Samantha helpfully set it up for us. The actual cruise was so wonderful; captain Howard (who grew up in Charleston and has been sailing 25 years, and opened up this place 8 years ago) was funny, passionate, and informative and the sunset was gorgeous. We did the "mild" tour which was quieter and less crowded than the "wild" tour, and was happy with the choice as we got to learn lots about the history and present day Charleston. But I'm sure both are great. Samantha and Howard were very friendly and we felt like guests in their living room. We just had a wonderful time. And saw a dolphin! read more

We had an amazing time on the tour to Morris Island. The guide was so nice and very knowledgeable of the area. When we got to the island he even walked with us and helped us find shark teeth! The tour felt like a private charter, not all rushed, the island was beautiful. The best part? My Golden Doodle got to come with me, run free and there was no charge for her. Our family went on the Morris Island tour. We had a great time cruising through the harbor learning fun facts about Charleston on the way to an awesome beach. Although you cannot get to the lighthouse anymore, you can admire it from a distance while looking for shells and shark teeth. The guide will almost guarantee that you will go home with at least one shark tooth. The views of Fort Sumter and the Battery from the water are amazing and once you get to the island, very few people are out there. On our way back we saw several dolphins along side of the boat. The captain had a great sense of humor making the trip that much more enjoyable. read more

My husband and I would have loved to experience the sunset cruise during our honeymoon in Charleston. We booked our reservation in May and kept telling our friends and family how excited we were for it. But it never happened. Even worse, we received a voicemail at 4:30pm telling us our 6:30pm tour was cancelled, so we didn't have time to search for another option. A courtesy call a week or so prior informing us that demand was low would have been appreciated. The employee didn't appear apologetic at all and didn't even offer us other dates. We did a lot of research on a boat trip for our bachelorette party. We had 11 girls and we were looking forward to a boat ride as the website indicated it was BYOB and music would be playing as we would be doing our sunset cruise. This couldn't be further from the truth. We arrived with drinks and happily supplied everyone on the boat with beer and wine, and they were happy too. But shortly into the trip, we were told we needed to be quiet- not from other patrons, but from the drivers and help on the boat. This was supposed to be a fun night where we showered our bride to be with a good time but it turned in to a miserable sunset cruise where the only thing to enjoy was our conversations whispering to each other. I do not recommend this cruise company. If Palmetto Cruises was not booked- we would absolutely have gone with them. I'm very disappointed in the way we were treated on this sunset cruise. read more

Wonderful harbor tour of Charleston! We saw dolphin "surfing" in the wake of an outgoing container ship, heard some good basic history of Ft. Sumter and Charleston, and the sunset couldn't have been more beautiful if we had special ordered it! To top it all off, Captain Howie and his first mate were knowledgable of the area and were willing to answer all our questions. Adevnture Harbor Tour is fantastic - Captain Howie makes sure you see dolphins (check!), gives the requisite "History of Fort Sumpter and Charleston" (check!), then takes you on a shell hunt where if you can't find neat stuff like sharks teeth, he all but drops them on your feet to make sure you get them (double check!) It is so enjoyable to speed out to Morris Island and then have it to yourself to beach comb, and boy is there a lot of neat stuff to pick up. Be sure to bring bottles of water, sunscreen, and a bag that is comfortable for carrying all the stuff you will find, and leave your timepiece at home. read more

As our last day in Charleston, my family decided to take a boat tour around the area, as it was a nice day. Just as we walked up onto the boat, the staff greeted us with a warm smile, and immediately gave us information and a mini-lesson on knots. Throughout the tour, which consisted of several other kind families, the navigator laughed with us, informed us about some history, and even spotted a few dolphins! We rented the Kiddie Mac for a bachelorette (8 girls) for an afternoon cruise with Captain Mason and had an absolutely wonderful time! We weren't exactly sure where to go when we got to the marina, but Captain Mason was waiting up on the sidewalk for us to show us the way and also carried all of our coolers! The boat fit all of us with plenty of room to spare. The Captain was very accommodating and asked us where we wanted to go, he took photos, brought us a blue tooth speaker for music and spotted tons of dolphins for us! Overall an awesome time. This tour is awesome! Worth every penny and your time. Captain Howie is fun, informative and keeps it entertaining for the kids. A bit of pirate history to keep kids interested and some Charleston history for the adults. The island is full of horseshoe crabs, shells, sand-dollars and shark teeth. For the kids it really is a treasure hunt. Bring sunblock and bags to collect shells. The boat ride is fun and just long enough. On the way back we saw a bunch of dolphins which was a great ending to the trip. This is one tour you can not miss. We visit every year and now this is on our "to do list" in SC. read more

This tour is ok, but far from a must when you go to charleston. The tour takes you to an island to search for shells. The problem is their are barely any shells. We walked what I estimate for 2miles and we found some small shark teeth and hardly any interesting shells. Bottom line is this tour is too expensive for what you get, no cold drinks, and very little substance. Also.....this trip is not for seniors, way to much walking read more
