This company STOLE OUR BINOCULARS. On 8/22/26 we took this excursion from our Virgin Cruise. My husband realized as soon as we got back that he had left his binoculars in the back seat. I think this is the tour company that organize the Adventure Kart Expedition tour. I booked the excursion via our cruise line. I highly recommend this tour to others. The tour is about $200 a person, it's a couple hours long. First, there's a boat ride with a tour guide that took us to the island where we can drive the go-kart. FYI - Ketchican is the world rainiest city-but we got lucky that it was a sunny day for us. Second, you got to drive-off road through the mountains for about 10 miles in the ATV like go-kart. It was totally AWESOME....it was a great way to see the nature in Alaska. At last, you will get bus back after your go-kart experience to the port. The bus driver also did a great job telling us more about Ketchikan. Tips: 1) It is quite a bumpy ride...you may want to skip it if you have back problem. 2) Wear something you don't mind getting dirty...cuz it gets pretty dusty driving off-road. 3) For couples/groups that are going together - you have to pay the tour fees even if you are not driving. I was going to be the passenger while my bf drove. But I changed my mind and drove on my own. It was so much fun. This was indeed an adventure! The guides were friendly and very informative about all things Alaska and the karts were a blast with spectacular views at the middle of the expedition and a snack and beverage are enjoyed as well. Great photo opportunities so bring your camera (but cover it well) as EVERYTHING will be covered in dirt and/or mud once you get there! They supply gear to protect your clothing and provide eye goggles,helmets,and such.We had a great time and all ages were participating from couples in their twenties to about mid fifties or so. A great trip. Fun enough to be exciting but not dangerous unless you have no clue how to drive. Overall, the perfect blend of fun and challenge. The guides were great. The trip was ideal in length. I loved that they had an optional driver switch halfway in (to keep things fair, especially if two strangers end up in one 2-person cart). We ate huckleberries, saw a brown bear, and had a great time overall. We did this off a cruise-ship (Celebrity) and the logistics of getting there were great as well. read more

There is roughly a 30-40 minute ride through the town and up the mountains to reach the Go-Kart destination. I really enjoyed it since the driver also gave us a history tour. It's a little expensive since the whole drive is only about an hour over all. We switched drivers at a halfway point. You're given clothes go protect the ones you're wearing since you will definitely get dirty. I don't suggest wearing nice shoes unless you don't mind wearing shower caps over them. It was a fun drive but you can do more if your group isn't too big. My cousin got one of our tires stuck in the rocks and our engine started smoking and died. The worker was super nice and gave us her kart. She managed to start it back up again. The people of Alaska are really good natured and friendly. read more

We were pleasantly surprised with how fun this excursion was....the course was absolutely gorgeous and the Go Karts were safe and durable on any terrain all while still keeping the ride bumpy and exciting! Although you follow the guides along the course, a fair amount of independence is given in your "driving style" which was really nice. Our guides made us feel safe and secure still, and were very informative about the Alaskan landscape and even shared some fun stories with us about growing up in Alaska, The one negative (and it's not a big one) is that our scenic view point breaks could've been a bit shorter. We were lucky enough to have a private tour with just us (no one else booked at our time i think). Best part? Our tour guides DION & MATT! (i think its Matt.. he's adorbs & super professional, and Dion is hilarious and has great knowledge of the native people on the land) Some tips: 1. You WILL get dirty.. or dusty! Wear your most thrashed shoes. 2. They PROVIDE you with rain and water proof pants and jackets. USE THEM. 3. Yes, you have to wear a helmet. 4. Bring a camera! Not your grandma's Go Kart. To call these vehicles a Go Kart is like calling a tiger a kitty. These karts are made to take really rough terrain and potholes that would make your car cry. Be prepared to get dirty, have fun driving like mad over rocky terrain and to see incredible vistas where eagles abound in the trees. Because we went during the summer, the mountainsides were covered with wildflowers and berries. It was gorgeous! Our experience might have been different than the typical experience. We went at 7:00AM - first thing and there were only 4 of us, two in each party. We were told the trails were drier than usual and because there were so few of us we got to experience some of the side trails not usually taken. These were some challenging trails with large rocky areas that were steeply graded, making the experience so much fun! I caught myself laughing maniacally a few times out of sheer adventurous joy. Don't worry about the dirty part too much. They suit you up with rubber pants and coat, and a helmet with a face shield. Not the best fashion statement for photos but necessary if you want to stay reasonably clean and warm. If it is dusty and dry like when we went you will most likely want to buy one of their awesome bandanas (or bring one of your own) to keep the dust out of your mouth and nose. You'll be thankful for it. Beware of using cameras while riding in the karts if the conditions are dry. The fine dust kicked up by the karts will get in your camera. Stick to a sealed camera like a cell phone or underwater housed cameras for in motion shots. After the 14 mile round trip drive they provide you with wipes to clean the grime off and other dirt abatement remedies. I would strongly recommend wearing dark colored clothing. The rubberized outerwear is not clean inside and the red dust will rub on to light colored clothing. The reddish dirt does not stain, but if you're planning on doing anything after the Adventure Kart experience you might want to bring another shirt. Don't let this deter you! The excursion is well worth a little dirt! If you like adventurous, fun driving.. If you like gorgeous vistas and wildlife.. this is the excursion for you! read more

we booked this tour thru our cruise as well. When we arrived we were asked to purchase a $5 kerchief to cover our nose/mouth, because it was so dusty. It wasn't mandatory, just recommended. Very glad that I did! We weren't given any protective clothing, maybe that's just for muddy days. Even tho I was wearing sunglasses and my helmet had a partial visor, I had to close my eyes for most of the trip because it was SOOOO dusty - lucky I wasn't driving. when we got back to camp, they blew us off with an air hose, but those clothes weren't going to be wearable again until they were washed. there were a couple of breakdowns on the tour and we were late getting back. Fortunately because we had booked this thru our cruise line, they held the ship for us. The pros - at one of the stops, we saw a mama black bear and 3 cubs. ANd at another stop, our guides picked salmonberries and huckleberries for us to try. My recommendation is if you take this trip, wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty. I wished I had researched this tour ahead of time and knew that so I could dress appropriately. And if you can bring your own surgical mask, it will work way better than that kerchief. read more

Not sure what you are still doing sitting there reading this - you should be making your way to Whipple Creek and the good people of Adventure Karts. You should also be requesting Eric to be your guide. This will be one of two experiences you'll soon not forget. The other will be the Alaska Rainforest Sanctuary tour guided by Amanda. Eric will take you on an off-road remarkable undertaking that you will remember for a life-time. Hopefully, it will be raining like a mofo; which it normally does so that you can experience not only the ride up the mountain; but the puddle-jumping splashing whoop-t-doos. Pure fun! You will also be exposed to crazy-mount of super interesting history and nature facts that will keep you entertained throughout. Like, "If eat from a bunch, you will be dead by lunch". Who knew? The views and vistas are second to none. Bring your camera! They have two-seaters; four-seaters; helmets; rain-gear; snacks; water; and great guides in front and behind to make your trip safe and enjoyable. We had children in our group and two in their mid-eighties. We all had imprinted smiles indelibly etched on our faces all the way through dinner recapping our memorable expedition. Save your money. Not fast enough for any real excitement, you're essentially driving on a gravel road the whole time. The snack was a cup of water and a Kirkland's granola bar. Not at all well done. The view at the top of the mountain was beautiful but that was the only good part. The guides lectured us like we were small children. Not at all impressed. Came right off the cruise ship and went to the visitor center and this caught my eye since I'm not a big bus tour person, an absolutely beautiful drive there, the area is absolutely great, the staff is on top of everything and knowledgeable of the area and the land so very educational. Know the cars are a blast! Plenty of twists and turns that make you want to stay there forever! 12 mile trail up and down the mountain at the time I went it was dry and dusty on the trail and it still was great. Be sure to buy a bandana for the dust or rain cause you will get alittle dirty depending on the weather but you have an absolutely great time no matter what and I highly recommend this sight. This cruise excursion was so much fun, I highly recommend it! We went 6 miles up the mountain with beautiful scenic overlooks! So happy the provided rain gear so we could really tear it up in the mud. They taught us about the wild berries and let us try several. They even brought a husky dog along for the ride. My wife and I regularly ride quads so this adventure was just right for us. The ride is amazing. If you have a bad back I would not suggest this activity. I felt we spent more time on the bus coming and going and waiting for everyone to get gear on than we did riding. The kids were helpful but Ifelt they wanted to be doing something else. Of all of our 40th Anniversary Alaskan cruise adventures, this was the most exciting! We were a little nervous as we are in our 60's, but the group of guides here were outstanding and made everyone comfortable, confident and secure! This day is for all ages!!!
