Went tubing down the Tallapoosa River yesterday with Lazy River Rentals. I've been hitting up new…read more(to me) tubing spots this summer and trying to avoid the crowds in Helen and on the Chattahoochee. This is your spot if you want a true lazy river float. Before we headed out we called to make sure they were operating, tubes were available, and the water was moving. All were a go, and they even put in floats and kayaks up to 4pm on weekends! We arrived at 3:30pm, parked, and hopped on their very cool shuttle bus. It's really hard to miss their brightly colored, tie-dye, open-top shuttle bus. It was a quick ride down to the drop off spot. The staff gave some great tips and advice for the River, even if we decided to not go with them next time (which we'd definitely do this again). We would be a lot more savvy about parking our vehicle at the drop-in point after hearing about a lot of break-ins. It's worth it to me to be in a secured lot on the rental property than to chance it on the side of a road. The staff is very helpful with getting down to the water and for instructions on where to return. The return is always the most stressful part, to me, especially if I don't know where to get out at. We were told to look for the spot on the right side that had part of a fiberglass pool stairs installed into the side of the river bank. We had a double float with mesh bottoms and cup holders. The float was clean and well inflated, and roomy enough for both of us.. We placed our life jackets in the bottom of our mesh seats to help in case we ran across rocks, which we did. Once we got to our entrance point it was smooth, lazy floating. The water was rather low so there were points we had to lift up so we wouldn't drag. I don't think is typical though because we heard a lot of people (from the shuttle driver to other kayakers/tubers) talking about how high and fast the water was just a week or two ago when multiple storms rolled in day after day. It took us a little over 3.5 hrs to do the float but supposedly this other week it was only taking about an hour. That's a big difference! If you have younger kids this float is great when the water is lower because it's similar to Helen then. You won't need to worry about your kids on the tubes, with their life jackets on. There's a place about 1/3-1/2 way through the float where there's a small sandbar beach and a rope swing. People were having a lot of fun but we wanted to make it off the river well before dark so we didn't really stop, just observed and kept floating. The river was not overcrowded but it was a lot narrower than the Etowah, which I tubed Memorial Day weekend. However, I felt like the narrow river allowed for more shade and I didn't feel myself roasting in the sun quite as much. I brought with me my sunglasses, water shoes which were crucial for getting in/out of the water, a large water bottle, sunscreen, a snack, and my waterproof case for my phone. They do not have a place to store your keys so remember either a dry bag or somewhere safe to stash them. We will definitely be back to tube here, and maybe even kayak too! We were told the kayaks sell out quicker than the tubes so keep that in mind. They said Saturday they completely ran out of kayaks and cleaned out an extra warehouse of kayaks as well. Like I mentioned, we pretty much didn't see anyone for the last hour or so. Oh, and you'll know when to get out (if you're traveling all the way back to the facility) by the sign on the right side of the river. I would definitely recommend using Lazy River Rentals. The staff was nice and helpful. Go tube or kayak the Tallapoosa!

I have been there probably 5 times. Fun trip. Some swimming holes and rope swings.read more

The amount of time it takes to get down does vary so we took less time than expected but still had fun. Some other anglers were hitting on Stripers with some Bucktail jigs. My 14 yr old son was determined he was going to get one of them so I got on Google Maps and found the nearest fishing supply store. Matt answered the phone. He was so pleasant and helpful. He told me exactly what kind of jigs we needed. He knows because he is a regular angler at that same spot. He fished for a long time without any bites. As soon as we got the jigs from Matt he caught fish on the 3rd cast. Who better to sell you the supplies than the guy that catches the fish. He showed me lots of pictures on his phone of his recent catches. The service and prices were great. I really enjoyed meeting this young man - and what a beautiful, well-stocked store he has. He will treat you just like family. Well, my son caught several large stripers with Matt's help and advice. We had a wonderful day. I hope you take time to go my and meet him and let him help you hook the big ones.

When I contacted the outfit for scheduling and requesting an easy hike on a Saturday, Dante (the guide and the person behind the company, I think) emailed back letting me know there would be an easy hike on the following Sunday. We figured that was fine, even though that meant skipping church and doing something that would take several hours on the day before we're all supposed to be back at work. I read these other two reviews and got a little nervous, so I tried to prepare everyone in the group. We brought additional food with us. First, I get really hungry. Second, I'm vegetarian and I figured that wouldn't necessarily be accommodated, so I didn't bother to ask.. Also, I had to not let the spelling and punctuation in the emails bother me. So I got over that. Thursday before the hike, we got an email letting us know we would be doing our hike at Virginia Bryant State Park in Royston, GA and the wine tasting at Boutier Winery, about 12 miles away from the park. He also told us what he was bringing for lunch, and told us to bring our own water. I thought that specificity was helpful. That state park is 90 miles away from Atlanta, so we carpooled and gave ourselves plenty of time. We found the group pretty easily (just drive toward the ranger station and look for a group of people). The guide is really nice and friendly. He had us all introduce ourselves. During the hike, he also walked his way up and down the line of folks, making sure to talk to everyone, and, I think, keeping track of folks so no one was left behind. We stopped twice so people could have water and a snack (that we brought ourselves - that wasn't provided) and so we could take some photos. Our group paced together pretty well, so staying together was easy. We had lunch together at a covered area in the park. He set out the food (wraps, turkey, mustard, carrots, arugula, kale, dates, pomegranates). It was the perfect hiker's lunch, light, not too much. I didn't really need to have brought additional food for the meat-eaters. I did have my own no-meat sandwich. We then drove over in a caravan to the winery. We got the six tastes, which were pretty generous pours. We could have paid for additional tastes or glasses of wine. The wine was pretty decent. Previous encounters with Georgia wines had been with wines made of muscadine, which is super-nasty. This stuff was all right. I would never pay $95 for this, but it was fine for $39. Now that we know about that park and winery, we can do it on our own. I would recommend this for folks who are hesitant about hiking alone or don't know the area.

It's very easy to inflate and carry down to the river and you can reuse time and time again. If you go this route, it's best to go with another party that can park at the finish spot so you have a ride back to your car when you're all done. The water is pretty calm. It can be a little chilly at first, but you get used to it eventually. I like to bring a paddle with me so I can better control my float. The whole trip takes about 3 hours to enjoy. So bring some friends, pack some drinks and snacks, and enjoy a lazy afternoon on the river.

Upon arriving, the website says that they have different hours of operation on the weekdays and weekends and depending on water levels and condition of day. We came on a Saturday around 3, when last bookings for rentals are at 4. One staff member said they stopped doing walk ins, however they changed their mind so we got lucky.. they charge for the tube which was $22, a "convenience fee," and shuttle charge for $4 a person. And if you want a square cooler tube it was $10. It was a kind of an unprofessional environment with young adults working the table to take in our payments. You have to leave one ID of the whole group you're with for security reasons I'm assuming, but you get it back at the end. Now, we got our tubes and life jackets and off to the Chattahoochee we go! The water was freezing cold even though it was a hot 90° outside. The thing that sucked most was my tube I was in, was already starting to deflate, along with another tube deflating slowly as well. That's wonderful.. There was an accident that happened on the ride down the river. My boyfriend had a shoulder injury previously, and somehow his shoulder dislocated while trying to push off a pier to get us away from the side.. well that was unexpected. It was tough to even get him out of the river and we didn't finish until after 6pm almost 7 by the time I went to grab my ID. And on my way towards the shuttle, not only did it stopped at 6, I wasn't even told they stopped running by that time. So the only option was to take a 5 minute lyft/Uber or walk 30+ minutes back to the starting point where the car is parked.

You park your car at the rental shop and walk down to the Euharlee Creek to start your float. They will shuttle you but it was a short walk and we didn't want to wait for a shuttle to go a block with just tubes. We rented 2 single tubes (no doubles available), along with a tether cord to keep us tied together. The floats had bottoms and drink holders. Life vests are included in the rental and waivers must be signed at the rental office, so give yourself time before their cut-off to get in, geared up, forms signed, and ready to take off. The drop-in point is near the covered bridge and it is really beautiful on the creek. The water is clear and fairly shallow, but we didn't get hung-up on any rocks or shallows. It was about a 45 minute float down the creek to where it dumps into the Etowah River. My favorite part of the float was the creek float. Once you meet up with the Etowah River you'll almost immediately notice a lot of people getting in on the right side of the river. "Traffic" picked up a little on the river at this point. However, the River is so wide that we barely got stuck in spots feeling crowded in. Do keep in mind thigh with a wider, more open, River comes more chance for the sun to beat down on you. About halfway through the float you'll reach an island, which you can go to either side of. You can also beach here to explore, stretch your legs, or take a lunch/drink break. We didn't stop to play as we'd already been on the water about 2.5 hours at that point. If you do the longer float you'll know where to get out because you'll go under a bridge, with tons of sparrows underneath. Then you'll come to a bridge that is gone and there is just stones in the water. There's a small ramp area to the left behind the old bridge. That's where you exit and meet the shuttle to go back to your car. Tips: bring your sunscreen with you, even after applying before leaving on your adventure. We were told the float would be about 2-2.5 hours. It actually ended up being 4.5 hours and we got badly sunburned, one of us more than the other. Which brings me to the next point that I've learned several times tubing- ALWAYS ASK THE PERSON ON THE SHUTTLE HOW LONG THE FLOAT ACTUALLY IS. I've had this happen several times where the person renting the equipment tells you a certain time frame or instructions for exiting and you find out later the float is longer/shorter, or their were better descriptions for the load-out point. There is no bathroom at the rental house, however, there is one at the park across the street. There is not a store or anything very close by to get cold drinks or food so plan your trip and grab those items on your driver over. All in all, we loved our float with Euharlee Creek Outfitters. We will do this again but will be better prepared by bringing extra sunscreen and cover-ups with us.
