We didn't arrive until late Christmas Eve and the lobby was shut down. (fine). We didn't know how to get into our room. After some phone calls were made, we were able to get in the room. As previously mentioned, this hotel/lodge is under new management and has been renovated /updated. Not all the rooms have been redone. The golden age of small bathrooms with no counter space has long since passed. Since we travel to SLC quite frequently, one night is perfect for the Parry Lodge.

After six months, we're still very glad that we did! We are first timer rental owners and we were unsure about how to properly setup the property and amenities for vacation rentals. Bathroom was very nice but the water pressure is lacking in the shower. The free breakfast was very convenient and they have snacks and drinks to purchase in the lobby. On Sunday my wife and a friend went for dinner. We've had many wonderful meals here over the…read moreyears but this was our first time back in about 1 1/2 years as we live out of state. We placed our appetizer and drink orders and later dinner. We simply ordered the trout, crab Mac and cheese and I ordered the duck. The Water Mellon Pork belly came out first. The pork belly was tough and hard not like times past. We really needed a steak knife and 1/2 of the 2 portions we ordered was not edible. The trout and crab mac came out and I waited and waited not 10 min but nearly 30 minutes for the duck. I spoke to our waitress and I think the manager and they kept saying it takes more time to prepare. At about 25 minutes I canceled my duck as my wife and friend were done with their meal. I was given just excuses and no explanation. I suggested that since they KNOW the duck takes longer to prepare they should have started that first. I was told by the two I spoke too that they put in the order and it's started in that order so my duck was last. So the so called Chef's who should know the duck takes longer blew it along with the wait staff. In every restaurant setting I've been in, the chef would to start what takes longer first so the table of two or more would be served at the SAME time. But not here at Wood Ash Rye. As mentioned this was one of at least four other times here. But in our years absence, the familiar faces were gone, the so called Chefs looked like line cooks and the wait staff was clueless on how to make things right. Sad....we won't be back.

They do clean them every morning, but it doesn't stay clean by evening. Too many people. It's very crowded, lots of people everywhere and waiting for everything. Has the theme park experience. The shuttle is constantly running into the park from the campground. We had to wait for an hour each way on a Friday for it. There's no other way up unless you are staying at the hotel. Parking is limited and the shuttle is pretty much mandatory. A ton of locals came in that day randomly and it was super packed. The rest of our stay we only had to wait 5 mins for the shuttle. You have to buy coins for the shower either at the showers or at the local sports shop, it's walking distance from the campground. The showers are not at the campground, but next to the sports shop. They closed early one day and the machine at the showers was broken so we couldn't buy coins. We were hot, sweaty and covered in sunscreen so it was pretty miserable to skip a shower. We planned ahead the rest of the trip and didn't have to buy coins last minute. Showers get busy and there is a wait.

Great campground, perfect amount of space, well attended and well maintained!…read more This was one of many stops along a 14-day cross country and we could not be happier that we wound up here! This was actually our 1st time in a KOA and so happy we chose this one and this town! The town is a 1 traffic light town, small and down-home, the campground is just a few blocks from the downtown center and the entire campground was ready for tents, trailers, diesel pushers and even cabins that they rent. Pool and dog park were our 2 main choices for the stop, an awesome lake about 10 minutes outside of town for fishing, a great small town restaurant "Cowboy's Smokehouse" a couple of minutes away, antique shopping for those into that, just an overall perfect location in the heart of Americana! Sites are interesting in that they are "buddy sites" they door to door your campsite side to the next trailer, we loved it because we met the people next door much quicker that way. Also met everyone around us who were having a major cornhole tournament while we were there, they were fun, very open and great neighbors. I honestly was a little worried about the noise but that squad shut it down at 9pm and were quiet as a mouse, not that we really cared but their game was pretty intense for a while! Walked around and met a lot of the other people in the camp, a few full-timers and a few nightly space renters like us, really great ownership in a clean and nicely run camp.

I like how they split up the lots with overflow parking. The visitor center is pretty big. As you enter you can see a big area of exhibits that talk about the geology of the dam as well as how Glen Canyon Dam compares to other dams in the world. Quite ominously, there was a exhibit about the water levels and it hadn't been updated in years...the overall trend was that there isn't a lot of water now. You can also watch a movie in back, shop at the gift shop, and get more information about the dam and surrounding areas at the information desk. Don't forget to walk on the bridge nearby, although it can be a bit unnerving to have traffic whizz by with not a lot of distance between you and them.

Stopped by Carl Hayden Visitor Center and Glen Canyon Dam during my recent trip to Page, Arizona…read more I had the opportunity to visit here before, and it never bored me to see the Glen Canyon Dam again and again. The Visitor Center has a huge parking lot for added convenience, and it's free of charge. Inside the Visitor Center, you'll find the exhibit with lots of great information and photos about the Dam. There's also a small movie theater, which features a short (30 minutes) movie about the story of building the Glen Canyon Dam. It's very interesting! There is a small gift shop with plenty of stuff to purchase if you are interested. The view of the Glen Canyon Dam is also so much better from the Visitor Center. I highly recommend it stopping by.
