The route runs through three different roads and lasted a good 2 hrs. They featured a good number of high school bands and other lively entertainment, including a ton of Shriners. Our favorite was a South Side performance group and the Jesse White Tumblers. Neither disappoint. We went with a large group of of friends who corded off and staked a tent for our groups use. If you're going with a large group you'll want to arrive early and do the same, as the parade route gets pretty packed. Cheers.

I have only been frequenting downtown Geneva for the past 3 years or so, clearly because I live under a rock. My Fiance and I love to walk up and down 3rd St., visit the shops, stop for some good food and eat some delicious sweets. And Swedish Days takes every aspect of this quaint downtown, puts a carnival in it, some good music and a touch of small town to bring Swedish Days together. After this year I can easily say I would not frequenting Swedish Days just like the MANY people I met there from the area and even from out of state!

Since Geneva was founded by Swedes and many people who historically had/have cottages (stugas in Swedish) here are of Scandinavian descent, you will see many Dala horses, vikings, gnomes, as well as yarn craft, jewelry, woodworking, candles, vintage books, ornaments, and more. One cottage today had demonstrations by rosemaling painters, the traditional Norwegian painting style often seen on wooden plates, trunks, furniture and other items. I was fortunate to speak with Lynn, who told me about her process (her motto was "Exhale and feel your passion for painting"; she also said not to hold the brush like a pen, in that there is no pressure on it, just guide it. She triple loaded paint colors onto a small flat paint brush and said she makes designs shaped like Ss and Cc, and that there are "no mistakes," if a kid bumps the table or something it can always be fixed or changed.) Another artist whose art you will encounter everywhere at this event is Kathy McPartland; her whimsical gnomes, Dala horses and flowers are on the fliers and signage for the festival, and you can buy her cards, books and prints at this fair. Tina Druce-Hoffman was another artist present who makes beautiful intaglio prints, including a limited edition one for the event. They have added extra vendors in tents around the park, which was something new this year. Overall, I will always come back to this charming event.

But when it came down to the experience it fell flat. They didn't notice but so much of it was dirty, and the foam pit area smelled like urine. The worst part was hard to watch an older Asian man treating his staff so poorly, literally on the floor having a conversation that should have been in the back room with a teenager employee. Then back when we were getting a drink (no refills btw) he was again being so rude to a worker in that part. His inability to treat staff well is the reason for my score and the reason we will not be back. I should have said something.

Paid for the pass as a parent because my child was too short to do many of the things by herself as she was only 46 inches, and not 48. For the high ropes and climbing obstacle area, she gave up after we waited for 30 minutes. We then decided to try the go karts, luckily she was able to wait the full 45 minutes in line so that we can go as a pair with us being the seventh pair in line with five carts. After an eight minute time on the track with four laps, and being throttled down 3 times, we gave up as we are not willing to wait another hour to do a couple laps. If you're gonna come here, just stick with the ball pits, the slide, and the trampolines. Anything above that, and half your day is going to be waiting.

If you question your child's development, you will be released from the team and he will make the entire family and siblings leave the club even if he is not the coach. He misses scheduled meetings to discuss issues and only cares about money. Campton isn't a club that cares about the kids.

I didn't have an issue with the coaching staff, except that he had 3 different coaches in 4 years. After the 2018-2019 year, 75% of the team did not return due to unhappiness with the club. I should have followed my first instinct to find a different club for him, but he there were a couple of guys that stuck it out and my son wanted to continue to play with them. The final year that he "played", if you can call it that, was the 20-21 season. My son's team did not get to participate in any of the following events - league play, state cup, winter indoor league, and various additional tournaments. They played in 3 tournaments and the Midwest Cup (2 games, not 3 like they were supposed to get) - THIS WAS ALL HE PLAYED IN FOR FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON OTHER THAN TRAINING. And, I had to pay out of pocket for 2 of these tournaments. After many emails asking about what exactly I am receiving for my $2000+ tuition, I was offered a $150 refund. What a joke! So, if you would like to be a part of a club that cares about the growth and potential of your child, I suggest you look elsewhere. But if you would like to be a part of a club that only cares about profit, this is definitely the club for you. Also - what a shame that the director feels the need to fly first class on a short flight to Memphis for a tournament after "such a difficult year for the club". I have a very good friend who is the director of another local soccer club who paid out of his own pocket for his meals & did not get a rental car for the same tournament. That is the type of club that we are used to. The only reason that we left that club was for my son to play at a higher level. Campton United is definitely not the same club as when my son started with them. No thanks to this club, my son IS playing soccer in college, so this review has nothing to do with his talent or lack of. I am simply trying to help anyone that I can to save their time and money & invest in a club that actually wants to invest their time in your child.

Despite things being a tiny bit disorganized....just a tad! "Once again, I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to do." I'm not going to name names, but I heard one of the celebrity chefs say this upon my walking into the event. I truly felt a bit bad for the chefs involved because things didn't seem very well put together. The best part of the event was the celebrity chefs! I enjoyed the cooking demos and the silly guys kept them interesting. Ted from Chicago's Best (the show which has guided me to many great food places) was a great host! I was surprised how funny, personable and quick on his feet he was in person. Clemenza's demo was great and Josh was easy on the eyes. :D The demos were great but they need to have a camera on the food and a TV screen so we can actually see what's being done and cooked. The first thing that was odd to me about this festival was that there was no program. It would have been nice if they had a program saying what booths were there, when the demos were happening, with who and what they were covering. When we checked in, we were also given plain wine glasses that still had price tag remnants and told etched wine glasses would be mailed to us. That's sad they couldn't get their glasses done in time. When we went back up to the front to ask what the demos were on, they said they weren't sure but they would happen hourly. Facepalm. Most booths were set up and going when we arrived at 1115am for the VIP time, but some were not. I honestly feel bad for people who paid the full $125. There was not the amount of vendors I expected at all. It was a very pricey event for those that paid for it and I would be livid if I were one. There were a few food samples, but honestly not many. I even saw one lady yell at someone who tried to take a second sample. It turned me off to see her say that to a little old man, poor guy. Many of the samples were very small which was surprising to me because of the pricing, and some of the liquor providers literally gave me one sip of their non-bubbly to try. I was also surprised to see a bath fitting booth? Knives, pots and pans I get...but bath fitting? How does that fit in with food & wine in any way? I enjoyed the beef at Glen Prairie and greatly appreciate the free appetizer card! The pot sticker from Szechwan was yummy and I was surprised they had Mai Tais! I have to say those Mai Tais at Bob Chinn's though were amazing! I can understand now why my family is always feeling the need to go there for meals. Two Brothers had yummy beer and a tasty bite - I've got to make it out to their Roundhouse Brewery! The Bloody Marys were yummy and a good size, I loved the little toppings you could pick and choose from. I was also very happy that there was actually a lot of seating for us to sit with our samples. Honestly though, it was pretty dead from 1115-Noon and there was just a lot of empty space. They could have packed in a ton more vendors! I'm wondering what happened here really....It could have been great! I was happy there was a lot of parking and it was free - a big plus! With booths saying one sample each and nobody selling actually food, it made it impossible for us to stay the entire length of time for the event. We finished up with the booths about 1230 and demos around 2 and rolled out. I honestly wouldn't buy tickets next year unless I saw a vendor list prior that shows a whole lot more vendors than this year. I had a fun time, but this event needs to oil the squeaky wheels.

I expected the event to be bigger but I had a great time with all of the vendors that were there. When we attend an event with many vendors, we like to talk to each of them to find out about there product and what there inspiration was. We had some great conversations along the way and made some new friends in the process. I heard that Saturday was very disorganized but I did not experience any of that when we checked in on Sunday. I did find it funny that the guy said to me at check-in, "Sorry we will mail you out your official glasses!", as he handed us two wine glasses. I looked at my wife and said, "He doesn't even have our address!" I guess that they ran out of the official logo glasses. I have no idea why I needed any glasses because every vendor had there own sample glasses. After an hour, I finally ditched the glasses because a few people asked me if I brought my own glasses from home. Of course, I always carry a wine glass with me just for these events! I want to highlight some of our favorite things at the event. First we loved Chad and the rest of the Two Brothers Brewing Crew. We hung out way too much here but had some great conversations about beer and life. I even found out that Chad and I have the same mutual friend...we are like that Kevin Bacon Game. If you have not had Two Brothers Beer then you are missing a really good beer. I highly recommend you try it or pick it up at your local store. Or you could just drive out to there location in Warrenville. We also sat in on a few of the stage presentations. The first session included Ying Stoller who makes Ying's Sauces. She was teaching us how to make pot stickers. My only complaint was the event organizers did not set up a camera so we could actually see what the cooks were making. This is a must in a cooking demonstration and if budget was an issue all you need is a camera, flat screen tv and a cable...yes it is that simple. I could have brought my own equipment from home. We were able to speak with Ying at her booth and had a great conversation. She even encouraged us to post pictures of our attempt at pot stickers on her website. Challenge accepted! Our favorite thing about the stage show was the host. We were so lucky to have Ted Brunson from Chicago's Best as the emcee. If you have never seen him, then you are missing a truly amazing host. This guy put fun in funny. His improv is some of the best you will ever see and I hope Chicago holds on to him as long as possible before some major network scoops him up. We had a great conversation with him and we even snapped some pictures with him. The poor guy had to work all day at the event and then run off to downtown Chicago for the local emmy awards. I also felt honored to help him with his cuff links...he joked with me and asked if I was going to tweet about this moment. I told him I would never do that but I didn't tell him I wouldn't Yelp about it. Ha!!! Our favorite food at the event was from Adelle's in Wheaton. They had an apple, squash, and pumpkin soup that was truly amazing. We also learned that the Metra Station is very close to them, so I see a train trip from downtown in our future. The menu looked really good too. We had a great time hanging with Bob from Mangia TV. He has a great rub and we were able to sample some shrimp and chicken. It was so cute because his brother was grilling everything fresh at the event. He also was able to show us a sample of his upcoming pilot show. I am looking forward to it because they use manly things to cook like a weed whacker and a blow torch...look out Tooltime Tim Allen!!! And who doesn't like hanging with One Fat Guy from Two Fat Guys. Kent Thomas was great...recently we just met his business partner at the Mariano's Grand Opening. Now my life is complete because my circle of meeting both Fat Guys is complete. Kent was also using his spicy sauce to whip up some Bloody Mary's. Wow were those good and we had to walk away because Kent was going to get us blitzed if we didn't. We also got to meet Bob Chinn's nephew Tyler. He was serving up shrimp, crab claws, key lime pie and Bob Chinn's famous Mai Tai's...can I say yum. Tyler owns Chinn's 34th Street Fishery in Lisle and he is serving up some incredible food. The fish was incredibly fresh and is available for your next holiday or corporate party. The key lime pie is one of the best you will ever have outside of Florida. And we can not go wrong with Chinn's famous Mai Tai's...those are so good. Other fun vendors were the Vegas.com crew...yes we tried the slot machine for a free trip to the Cosmopolitan but we were not lucky. Two people won on Saturday and one person won on Sunday...my wife was very close...we were packing our bags! A fun event in the burbs and we can not wait until next year!!!
