He gave me a lot of information that I didn't know before which really helped. I had never in the 24 years of living in the house had had the cedar siding stained and he explained how important to get it done properly to prevent any more damage. I had had the panels painted about 10 years ago by a friend who did a okay job. Ryan's crew came out when promised, did a complete power wash of the house and let it dry for 2 weeks to prevent any problems with the paint adhering.When the painters (5) came, they spent about 2 days just scraping and prepping for the painting. They also sprayed 2 coats of the stain for the cedar siding and it looks great! They painted the house with great care and did a great job. Even when we thought they were finished, we saw the crew going over the house with a fine tooth comb finding any missed spots or any places to be cleaned up. I can't recommend them enough! The house looks great and should stay that way for years to come.

I wanted to avoid the summer rush and get on the schedule so I started looking in early March. I ultimate selected the bid from Scott Ford of Highland Park Painters. His was not the lowest bid, but I selected it based on what I perceived as more professionalism than the others. I was certainly wrong about that. Two days before the scheduled start in mid-May Scott called to say he had changed his mind, that he no longer wanted to do my job and that he would introduce me to a couple of guys who used to work for him that would. I asked why they would do it and not him. He replied that he had a lot of work this summer which indicated to me he could replace my business with more profitable business. To make a proposal, acknowledge my acceptance, and give me a start date only to back out days before because of a better deal is not ethical and it certainly is not professional. The two he introduced me to didn't work out at all. Their bid was twice the amount of Highland Park Painters and absurd. They reduced the bid one day and then raised it back up the next so I told them to forget it. In their defense they were new to the business and had no idea of how to estimate their time.

He and his well trained, exceptionally crafted worksmen definitely have surpassed the idea of perfection for me each time I've used them for projects I've needed done. They started by painting the exterior of the 1929 house. This included stucco paint, trim, repairing/replacing rotted wood. I even asked them to clean out my gutters (you know- since they already had their ladders up there ;)) all done with a smile. I've also had Welch Painting repair my crappy, popcorn ceiling after a water leak and it turned out fantastic. There is no project they can't perfect. They are also well trained in assembling bicycles it seems (even though it has nothing to do with painting). They provided us with a fair bid for the work that was needing to be done and was able to work around our schedules and needs as they completed the project. The whole house was done in a week and they didn't disturb our living arrangments more than would be expected when having your whole house painted. At the completion of the project they left our house very clean and were very attentive to detail. The day I came home to a clean and fully painted house was AMAZING!!! We have since recieved several compliments on how good the paint looks! We had several people suggest that we complete the project ourselves and after seeing the outcome agree that hiring Joe and his brother was a smart move because it looks so professional! We also removed two hooks following the painting and Joe was so kind as to respond to our request to have him patch the wall and did so very quickly! He provided a pre bid before he arrived based on our square footage which was nice to know the ballpark price. He finalized the bid after the walk through with our agreed upon repairs and paint choice. His pricing is very reasonable and includes repairs and prep work that others may charge more for. He was very easy to work with and went above and beyond what would be expected, he noticed we had not put out our recycle bin one morning and called to ask if we wanted it out, while painting behind the dryer he noticed it needed a newer vent hose and got and installed it, he noticed the motion detector battery was low charge and picked up a new one. His prep work is meticulous and he is very particular about his work, (particular is how he describes his standards). He cleaned up ceiling bumps and sloppy work left by previous painters. All this and he was 20% lower than other bids. We will definitely be asking Rick to paint for us in the future.
