So we were up here actually purchasing one of their coolers but when I say this is some of the best beers I have ever had at a brewery I mean it!!! We had the blood orange seasonal and an IPA. The blood orange was sooooo good and refreshing and the IPA was good, not too tart like they can be! They had a lot of others and we took some home to try. Look forward to the Cerveza! Visited on a Friday after work. I've been to this spot before and kept meaning to return. They had outdoor seating as well as a plethora of indoor seating. A food truck was stationed outside and, not that it really matters, but the playlist over the speakers was solid. Not too loud, and full of early 2000's alternative rock. We really enjoyed our time and were able to have full conversations across the table without raising our voices. I opted for a seltzer which was crisp and refreshing. My original choice was not available, but what I ended up with was perfectly fine. I appreciate that they have a large rotating menu, so there's always an opportunity to try something new/different. I didn't realize that they also have a back room. I walked by and noticed people playing bags. I'm not sure if it's a league or open for all, but it looked like a good time. read more

We enjoy the atmosphere and brews here the most! Thought out tasty brews. They host weekly events, like trivia night, that we've attended and enjoyed. Food truck schedule is posted up to date so it's fairly easy to know if there will be grub on hand. I've found their Facebook to be handy to see what all is going on. I drove up to Elk River to patronize some new-to-me breweries. The first of which was @aegirbrewco . A huge taproom with plenty of indoor / outdoor space, fantastic music that was hitting some nostalgia for me, and a unique flight board that went with the SKOL vibe. With how viking-esque the flight board was, I had to do my best to fill it out with six different beers. Aegir IPA A traditional IPA hopped with Chinook, Cascade, and Falconers Flight. Aroma was medium pine and low citrus. Flavor was medium low bitterness, medium low pine, low orange rind, and a mild caramel malt on warming. PB Allfathers Porter A good old fashioned Peanut Butter Porter. The base porter brings a low unroasted coffee beans and chocolate flavor that is balanced by a medium high unsalted / unroasted peanut (nice dry peanut butter). Huge nutty PB aroma. Elder Cherry Sour A Kettle Sour fruited with elderberries and black cherries. Medium high cherry aroma with hints of almost a herbal quality and lower levels of elderberry. There is medium tartness with sweet black cherry, elderberry, and low acid. Call Me a Cab A very unique Wine Ale that resembles a Cabernet Sauvignon. If you close your eyes you could be fooled. Beautiful red/purple tint. Mild tannin notes like a Cab, cherry and sweet chocolate flavors. Dark molasses and dark cherry aroma floods the nose. I have never had a beer like it and it was my favorite of the bunch! Idunn's Apple A Fruit Beer with a rice base (near-gluten free). It has a refreshing and crisp light body. There is no overwhelming acidity which maintains its drinkability. Light apple flavor (sweeter varietal) with notes of honey from the fermentation process used. Ol Fashioned An Experimental Beer brewed to resemble an Old Fashioned. Medium high angostura, low cherry, and low vanilla aroma. Medium angostura, medium low cherry, and medium low vanilla sweetness on taste. Another unique beer in the line-up! read more

This is a very interesting looking place with good beer. We were served quickly. We chose a flight since it was our first time here and we wanted to try different things. Smokin' Hot a blonde beer with a smoky, spicy flavor is a good choice. The PB porter has a good peanut butter flavor with a bitter finish. They are very dog friendly and there were 3 while we were there. It has a Norse theme and I really liked the keg sink in the bathroom. We've been here twice to support a friend playing for a live music night. They have a large indoor and outdoor (canopy) taproom. HUGE selection of beer with an amazing variety. They have gluten free drink and non alcohol drinks. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They often have different activities like bingo, corn hole tournaments or themed night. There often are food trucks which delicious grub. We Love when our friend plays here and would recommend it to anyone! read more

Tonight was my first visit to Aegir Brewing in Elk River - 4 stars! First of all, this place is really tricky to find. The main problem is most of the internet listings (as of this date) display their old address in downtown old town Elk River. They're now in a big industrial park on the far northwest end of town (north on Proctor Avenue), just west of the bus company. The main road does a big U into and around the industrial area. Aegir is in the back. Once you find the building, the entrance is in the back, on the northwest corner. I really like the atmosphere at Aegir. All of the employees were very nice. The customers were totally chilled out and friendly. It's definitely a "come as you are" kind of place, dress however you want...Carhartt work clothes or a suit & tie...whatever. Everything has a Viking theme. Even the flight caddy is a long metal thing that looks somewhat like a Viking long ship. They have incredible number of beers with a dazzling array of flavors. Want an IPA? They have it. Want something light? They have it. Want a sour apple beer? They have it. Want a peanut butter flavored dark beer??? They have that too! I got a flight of 6 (see photos). But they had a total of 20 taps on the back wall. They also have a few other beverages (like seltzers), a cooler full of beer to-go, and lots of snacks. There's a room in back with lots of merchandise. Finally, this brewery is totally dog friendly. In fact, this is one of a hand full of places that actually allows dogs inside the main room. They have a goody bag full of various dog treats behind the counter. Ask them, they'll pull it out for you. Very fun! My big Mastiff and I had fun hanging out, visiting the food truck, saying "hi" to customers & employees, and sharing pretzels. Thumbs up! -Maxx read more

First time here. Stopped on way to St Cloud. Ordered a flight of these: Shield Maiden: Blonde 5.2 ABV. Nice and light, very good. Heimdalls Hefe: 4.5 ABV, easy drinking, good hoppy aftertaste. Homestead Farmhouse Saison: 8.7% ABV good Smoking Hot Blonde: 5.2 ABV. One word Yuck! Tasted like cigarettes and ashes dumped in beer. What were they thinking? Ran Amber Ale : 4.5% ABV good. What sets brewery apart as Beertender asked about my beers and I said that I didn't care for Smokey one and she replaced it with another one I liked. Talk about going above and beyond! I made conversation with guy next to me at bar. He said brewery is pronounced "A Year". He also told me about 2 breweries in Monticello named Rustec and Nordic and other one Hayes in Buffalo. He suggested I try Hammered Double IPA at 9.3 ABV it was surpisingly good and hoppy. The place was tiny but the beer was solid. The logo was cool. They had a collection of other breweries growlers, so they exchange them. Highly recommend. read more

Love the outdoor space (as well as the indoor - though a little dark) great place to catch up with friends and relax. I was not a fan of the beer though - I'm an IPA person and none of theirs stood out to me. I got a flight just to give the others a chance but wasn't for me. Also - would love more selections. Aegir has become the 93rd brewery in Minnesota that I've visited. For some reason I did not have high expectations but ended up being pleasantly surprised. My two friends and I headed straight for the bar area and were instantly greeted by our amazing bartenders. We ended up chatting with them during our entire visit; about the brewery and their beers and also just discussing the entire MN beer scene. They offered us samples of other beers on tap (whatever we didn't order). We had a great time and it was one of the best services I've ever received. That alone will make me want to come back. The taproom is small but super cozy and nicely decorated. The tap list is also humble in size but there are definitely some gems on the menu. I personally decided to go with the Call Me a Cab Wine Ale which seemed like the most adventurous choice from the offerings. I was blown away and loved it! It's one of the most unique beers I've ever tasted. At 8.8% ABV, it packs a great booziness and tastes exactly like a Cabernet Sauvignon. I really wish I grabbed a crowler of it to go! I also got to try the Mojito Ale which was also delicious and refreshing and I definitely hope they keep it around! As far as the more standard beers go, my friends seemed to enjoy their brews. Those were not quite as exciting but solid good classics nevertheless. I will definitely want to stop by again in the future and would recommend this place to anyone looking to try a new brewery or looking for good drinks in the area and lovely service. read more

The beer was fine. The bartender was eating a pizza behind the bar and not wearing a mask. He was talking to people and pouring beers without a mask as well. It was gross. Also, there was no heat on so everyone was in a winter coat. I went to Lupelin and Rustech the same day and experienced great covid protocols. These two places were awesome!! This might fly for the locals, but you are not going to get many people to come back. Hope you fix it. read more

On a long traffic filled trip down 169, I tasked my husband with finding us a new brewery to stop at. He pulled up Aegir Brewery - ooh, we haven't heard of that one! So the plan was set. Aegir is set off Main Street in I guess what would be considered downtown Elk River? So lots of little shops, restaurants, etc. Walking in through the front door and you can tell it's more of your small neighborhood type setting than say some of your NE breweries. Everyone walking in seemed to know eachother and be from the area. Love the décor! Lots of wood and Norse-style themes. Thor's hammer rests on the bar. Really love their logo too and it looks great behind the taps! Nice selection of beer. I initially asked for the coffee DIPA, and the gal was like, have you had it before? Do you want a sample first? I tried to shrug it off as I've had and loved coffee IPAs in the past, but she insisted, so I relented and took a sample. Wow am I glad I did, it was strong AF and just a biiiit too overpowering. Turns out this beer (which was fittingly called Whoops There It Is) was their first run at the DIPA which they mucked up, so the brewers added a bunch of coffee to try and downplay the hops. After that I opted to go with their beermosa, which was fresh OJ mixed with their Shield Maiden (blonde style IIRC). Now that was refreshing, especially considering the heat outside. Hubs got their saison, which he liked so much he went for it a second time. My 2nd beer I went with the DIPA - the noncoffee one - and wow it was delicious, not to mention gorgeous looking in the glass! Really solid for only being open since March. We talked a bit with the owner and of course some of the locals who had to come get a look at Starling ;) It's nice to know this great little brewery is here serving up good beer, it'll be a for sure stop every time we're coming back from up north! Good beers and a cool atmosphere. Definitely one of the smaller taproom I've been to. The Allfathers Porter is excellent.

My wife and I stopped in on the keep your glass night. Parking was quite limited. Even though they don't have food there we were able to have food brought to us from the café next door (that food was good and their service was also good). The service was okay and the crowd was good. All in all it was a good experience and the choices of beer was quite the variety. I didn't taste a bad one...good times. read more

Great new brewery located in the heart of downtown Elk River. Went the day after the grand opening and I'm already a fan. The three beers that they had on tap were all excellent. First time here, my wife and I got two flights so we could taste everything they had at the time. First-timers get the first flight free, and when I went back to get the second flight they insisted on giving us that one for free too! Absolutely excellent customer service, and the beer is fantastic! The Peach Heffe was my wife's favorite, the Smokin' Hot Blonde is something truly unique, I liked it quite a bit, though being both smoky and spicy, it's definitely not for the faint of heart! The Skalliday Stout was excellent and the Shield Madien Blonde was a very tasty Blonde Ale. I really liked both the Valhoppa Hazy IPA and the Fenrir Dark Rye IPA, and I'm not normally much of an IPA guy. Great friendly community atmosphere; Jeremy gave us a very warm welcome and made us feel like old friends. We will definitely be regulars here! read more
