We talked about our desires for live musicians for the ceremony, the look of the DJ setup, uplighting and a photo booth all of which ROTN was able to arrange, and at a great deal less than if we tried to organize each on our own. ROTN's template was so much help for choosing appropriate songs for the ceremony, introductions and parent dances as well as how to convey our style of music into guidelines for their DJ. In our final meeting a week before the wedding we covered the step by step details, including our first dance song combo, and all the other little timing things to make sure the day of our wedding was flawless. We visited Kevin's office before booking, and he let us try out the photobooth. Love that this one is different in that you get a remote to control how many pictures are taken. And if you take a series of 2, 4 or 6 pics, it shows up on the same 4x6. Everyone in the pic gets a copy of the pic, which was important to me. I hate fighting over who gets the picture when I'm in a picture with others. Super easy to work with Kevin. And the two attendants were on time and were working hard the whole night. This is a pricier photobooth, but what really made me pick this one is that you get an album with a printout of the first 100 or so pictures (how ever many pics the album can hold) and it serves as a guestbook too. The coolest thing is that you get a link to a stop motion movie of all of the pictures in order. Lots of fun to watch that! And everyone can go to the gallery and download their pics too. From my initial meeting with Mackenzie, I felt right at home. After I signed the contract, I dealt with Nikki who was an absolute sweetheart and professional. She emailed and called in a timely manner and made revisions to my schedule 100 times with a smile on her face! Then of course there was Nela, my photographer. I cannot speak highly enough of Nela. Nela arrived Thursday evening and got right to work after getting off the plane. She walked around the property scouting locations and met with me to discuss her ideas. I was blown away by her tenacity and dedication to her craft. She was studying, taking notes- a true professional. Nela and I walked around the property for around an hour, discussing the plan for the wedding day. Her professionalism didn't end there. My now husband, Max, HATES taking pictures. I know most grooms say that but he truly is the exception. I warned Nela and I don't think she even believed how difficult he was going to be. Max refused to take getting ready photos, complained about the heat, was angry the sun was in his eyes- you name it, he complained about it. Nela handled Max's opposition with ease. She struck a balance between being firm while also making him feel comfortable. She instructed me on what I needed to do so that we could get the best possible photos. She was incredibly successful at getting great shots, despite a very difficult client- a testament to her professionalism and personality. Further more, Nela was an energizer bunny and ninja rolled into a petite frame. She was running around for 8 hours getting every shot, no matter the angle. I truly thank him for being there throughout the day to make sure all of our hired vendors were on time and on task. He even greeted my guests as they walked in! Being an event planner and decorator myself - it was hard to find a venue that pretty much let you have the freedom to decorate and hire outside vendors to get the job done according to my own standards. I must say, we were assured by Gary's professionalism and courtesy that we were in good hands. Although I work here NOW, the price I paid for the Yacht Club was affordable (even then) for a New Years Eve wedding. I paid less than $5,400 for a wedding with 115guests. That includes food, dessert, liquor, and service. I know it took a while to write this review. But, we want to take a moment to thank Gary and his team at the East Rockaway Yacht Club. Mainly for working with us for what we needed and wanted for our Wedding day. That will never be forgotten.
